Turns ago, Pern defeated their enemy, thread for good. Or so they thought. No one expected an asteroid to hit the Red Star, sending it back on its old orbit, but it happened. In the days that followed, thread rained once more upon Pern. There were few dragons by this time, and fewer came out of the first weeks that the New Fall began. In a last effort to raise numbers, two Queens and a few wings of dragons were sent back 50 turns to a small island between the Northern and Southern Continents. Here, Trelis Weyr would be formed secretly, and it would save Pern.
Trelis has come a long way since that time all those turns ago, and now Pern waits for a new Pass to start. The youngest Weyr didn't expect to be the middle of a revolution. It was hard enough when the Weyrwoman, Sahelli, passed away leaving the leadership to the younger Inali and Loraketh. Then, the new WeyrQueen's first clutch brought new colors to Trelis Weyr. Fear grew in many hearts in the weeks to follow, and no one really should have been surprised when S'vrin of Ista Weyr took his wing and retaliated against the "Unpure" hatchlings and Weyr. The worst was when they kidnapped children from the clutching feast after JuniorQueen Maelath laid a Gold egg.
Trelis did gain back those lost though, and welcomed even more new colors with Maelath's hatching as well as a Topaz Sub-Queen and young Gold. Everything seemed to be fine after that, then Junior Weyrwoman Iskra announced she was leaving. The news rattled Trelis' confidence that they still had, but somehow they still stood firm. After all, the realization that they are perhaps the strongest Weyr came to them. The Sub-Queens were found capable of both clutching and flaming, and with that Trelis realized they had the most clutchers out of any Weyr. All the Weyrs look on them enviously now, some would do anything to get in the Weyr's favor even.
Then the Great Storm hit. It devastated Sollace Hold, and Trelis Weyr ushered in the refugees and calmed the grief-stricken people. In this, a wher clutch was hatched, and the final bondeds were found to have mutations as well. The old Pern is now no more in The Island's eyes, and that has angered some. Particularly Southern Weyr. Weyrwoman Inali went to ask for the aid in rebuilding the lost hold, and they greeted her with sabotage, keeping the Goldrider in the South long enough for her Gold to enter her second mating flight. Angered, Loraketh chose a brown male to be her champion, and the rider is now Weyrleader at Trelis....it is not for the best. With a clutch warming on the sands, Inali and the rest of the Weyr must think fast...before all they know is changed by these outsiders.
