The Lexis Tribe had such a wide variety of creatures in it, from large to small and young to old and silent to talkative and, obviously, canine to feline. This display of diversity pleased the male, and he stayed silent until the female spoke her name.
The massive golden beast dipped his head low to the creature coming into the Gathering, and he murmured, "Welcome to the Lexis Tribe, Andromeda. My name is Streiter, new leader of this wonderful group of creatures here tonight. I pray that you will find our Tribe to be most friendly and welcoming, miss." Catching a scent of the air as he breathed in, Streiter noticed fear. This hadn't been here before. Was it perhaps coming from the young female who had just arrived? Interesting - very interesting.
The male glanced around. The group had become quite large now, so perhaps it was his time to speak. He wouldn't bore them with a bunch of useless nonsense or empty promises. He would tell them the truth, tell them exactly what was going on. Raising his head and broadening his chest, the tom called in a loud, yet soft, voice, "Members of the Lexis Tribe, turn your ears my way. Open your hearts to my words. I pray you will hear me well enough." He glanced around as it became quiet. He'd had this sort of authority only once before... He shivered slightly at the memory, then let his cool gaze sweep over his followers.
"My dear ladies and gentlemen, canines and felines alike, I welcome you to this meeting. As I have just told you, my name is Streiter. Most of you knew this before I ever introduced myself; however, I feel the need to say it aloud." He swallowed. "I have not had the honor of personally meeting all of you just yet, and getting to know you, but I pray we will all soon come to be friends, if not brethren, under the name of the Lexis Tribe." He looked around, reminding himself of names and faces. "Many of you may be wondering where the former leader of this Tribe, Badeya, has gone. You may wonder why the power must be shifted."
The lion sighed very softly and shook his head, making his majestic mane wave softly in an invisible breeze, and he rumbled, "I dearly wish that I could answer all of your questions, but I cannot. I know nothing of the disappearance of your canine leader, Badeya. Wherever she is, may she be content. Let us all share a few moments of silence in honor of her service for our Tribe." He dipped his head and let his body go still, letting his voice trail off to linger in the air.

He had heard the mighty roar of someone, or something, that he had assumed to be a leader. The sound had originated from somewhere within the Lexis Tribe borders, a place the male had started to show quite a bit of interest in and had hoped for an opportunity to meet the leader and perhaps be welcomed into this group of felines and canines who appear to reside peacefully with one another. But, then again, what if they weren't so peaceful? Would a meeting of the tribe really be the best place to make his appearance? What if they were actually hostile and during a meeting they would surely outnumber him.
As the feline trudged through the streets, his pace slowing a bit as these dark thoughts struck him, his eyes began to widen in some sort of fear for his life. Was belonging really worth giving up his life? What other options did he have? The large, golden paws began to form larger strides as he picked up his pace to a full scale run, seeing off into the distance a troop of animals sitting in...silence? Prime Time's ears swiveled forward, trying to pick up any hints of conversation between them. He cocked his head in a confused manner. Why weren't they discussing things?
It was true, the lion had heard the rumors that the leader of the Lexis Tribe had disappeared. Was that what they were doing? Choosing a possible leader? No, that couldn't be possible for if that were so then who was it that let out that monstrous roar he had heard only moments beforehand? Were they having disagreements with there leader, leading into an awkward silence among them with a stare down in the mix?
Too late to worry about that now. The young male came running up full speed to where the group of both felines and canines sat and, trying to slow down steadily into a stop, completely failed and ended up sliding on the cold, condensed earth and landing flat upon his face with his front legs sprawled out in front of him. "Am I late?" he asked, a look of nervousness clearly plastered across his features. Bringing his gaze upwards he looked directly into the face of a larger lion.
Scrunching up his nose in an objection to his own actions, only one thought crossed his mind at that moment. 'This may not end well...'

His eyes shot over to where the scent seemed to be originating from, and he felt the growl ascend in his throat, only to be stifled by the creature's soft, "Am I late?" Streiter wanted to snarl at him. Yes, you are fucking late, so why don't you just piss off? But he didn't say that. Quickly he composed himself and murmured to the newly arrived male lion. "No, sir. We were only pausing for a moment of silence for our lost leader Badeya."
The tip of his tail twitched with irritation, but he thought quietly to himself, trying to calm himself down. You anticipated this. You know that you aren't the only male here in Hexasol. Don't lose your temper simply because he showed up late. Don't lose your temper at all. He's just a younger creature anyways. He doesn't know any better. Just calm down... He took in a deep breath and let it out, staring evenly back into the male's eyes and asking, "What's your name, sir?" He sniffed the air curiously, and he tilted his head, eyes narrowing slightly. "You don't smell like Lexis. You don't smell like anything, actually."

While they kept a moment of silence for the previous leader Badeya, the sound of an approaching creature made Jura look into the night. The feline who approached them ran in full speed, but when he tried to slow down into a stop, he failed. The ‘stop’ made him slip and fall down to the ground in a very clumsy, and probably also a painful way. “Am I late?" the young male lion asked, a nervous look imprinted on his young face, while he looked up on Streiter. Most of all, Jura wanted to go to the youngster and ask if he was okay, if he was hurt and if she should help him get up again, but she sat still. She didn’t know how Streiter would react to the sudden appearance of this young lion – who had made an unforgettable entrance. But he was young, so it would be wrong to blame him his clumsy nature. Well, after all she hadn’t been any better when she was younger – she had just grown out of it. It would be more than wrong to call her clumsy now. Enough of all this self-praising Jura, she thought to herself. The poor thing in front of them all seemed very nervous. And why shouldn’t he feel like that?
Because when she looked at their new leader, it looked like he had a displeased look in his majestic features. The black jaguar female couldn’t help but to feel Streiter was being a little rude, though the young male hadn’t arrived at the best moment. But maybe she was wrong, because it didn’t take long before the leader spoke to the newcomer in a murmur. "No, sir. We were only pausing for a moment of silence for our lost leader Badeya."She tried to relax a bit after that, and her attention was set on the young lion again when Streiter asked for his name. But there was still something inside her which felt wrong. Maybe she hadn’t just imagined Streiter’s hided hostility toward the young male lion. What if he didn’t like other male lions? But this one in front of them couldn’t be a threat at all to Streiter, so why should he be displeased by the newcomer’s arrival?
Jura’s attention was caught once again when Streiter spoke to the newcomer. ”You don't smell like Lexis. You don't smell like anything, actually." She laid her ears backwards at this and narrowed her golden eyes slightly. Was he a spy for the Iris Pride? Or just a loner? She hoped for the last one, but if he should show some signs of being part of the Iris Pride, she would chase his whole damn lion body off this territory.

How could he have lost track of time like that?! He sighed slightly as he neared the circle and calmly dis-engaged himself from the night to join the others, padding gently and respectfully - he was not one to rush in madly.
"I aplogise profusley for being late, Streiter; the sun is very misleading in the mountains. I promise it will not happen again." He spoke calmly but clearly, before settling down on his haunches, looking around at the others. There where some he did not know, others he did. He sighed silently to himself; it did not feel quite right being around others, though he would not avoid it on purpose.
The Rottweiler shook himself free of some snow that had stuck to his fur, before gently settling down onto his stomach so he could take part in the meeting in relative comfort.

Xarkla The feline had been late. She had heard the roar clearly, yet she had been to focused on watching to make sure no felines or Caine's had noticed her. This delayed time and now as she clearly bounded towards the group of animals, she felt fearful. Would she get chewed up for being late? The female arrived at the group of creatures and saw none of them she knew. Bowing her head she swallowed the fear that bubbled in her stomach. "S-Sorry for being late, s-sir" she whispered, loud enough for the lion's ears to catch. Xarkla shifted slightly as she kept a few feet away from the nearest creature. Fear shown in her brown gaze as she felt odd at being so late to this meeting. "I'm one of the new felines," she spoke as she looked back at the leader. Xarkla flicked her tail, anxiety gnawing at her sides. The female was so used to staying hidden from view, away from others. Every, since her sister was mauled she had kept to herself rarely speaking to others. Fear, that she would have the same fate as her sibling she stayed hidden in trees, the moment a kill was made or when she heard the slightest sound of a stick snapping. You couldn't trust others....not as easily as her sister did with those dogs.

His ears perked up, and his eyes began to glisten. He looked at the two creatures who appeared in the clearing of the junkyard, a canine and a feline. The lion dipped his broad head, his face becoming shadowed, his mane dipping over his angular cheekbones. When he lifted his head again, a genuine smile was on his face. This creature, this young lion, is of Lexis Tribe with me. I have a bad history with other creatures like me, but he is young... he is in my Tribe. I must make an effort, make a goal, to become his friend... I won't ruin my reputation with the Tribe already merely because I have instincts.
The lion murmured, "You all came rather late. I'd say 'Shame, shame, my dears,' but to be honest this meeting wasn't vital to your positions in the Tribe. I welcome you, and I truly hope to meet you all and hunt alongside you personally." He turned and looked out, over to the city, a little light shining in each of his eyes. He said serenely, "How many of you knew Badeya? How many of you had a certain place in the Tribe, a rank, I suppose, that you were comfortable with?" Looking back, Streiter asked, "How many of you would like a new rank? Or perhaps, you have not had any rank to begin with?" His tail flicked; it dance beside his paws. He took in a deep breath and said, "I assure you, all of this shall be covered tonight, or soon so we may find your best skills and interests."
He looked around the crowd, as if searching for something. He then asked, "Who feels that they could be a good assistant to me in getting this Tribe back in shape? Hm?"

In the short distance she was away from the meeting, Bianca heard the tribe was already speaking of important matters. She pinned her ears back, lowered her head, and out of an instinct that annoyed her the most, tucked her tail between her legs. She appeared out of the darkness, her solid white coat easily sticking out, making her feel even more self-conscious. She deeply regretted not being punctual.
But either way, she couldn't beat herself up over her mistakes right now. As far as she'd heard, there was a lot of business to attend to. She took her place in the middle of the crowd, gathering her composure. She took a few deep breaths, trying to bring her fluttering heartbeat down. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. She would be entering a very different lifestyle, but this would be for the better. She'd be under new rules, but never again would she be pushed around by humans. However, she would have another task to fufill; become a peacemaker and unite both canine and feline. She'd also have to defend her new home at the same time. But still, in a way, she felt no longer chained or held back.
Once she felt eased enough, she paid close attention to the lion. When he asked of rankings and told of how they would be settled, she found the opportunity to speak up. "I am a new canine to this tribe," she explained in a lowered tone, though loud enough for him to hear her. Her eyes went downcast to her large feet. "I have not had a rank within any tribe, pack, or any organization before. Also, I too apologize for not being on time." She added in awkwardly, her clear speaking voice wavering as she did.

I'M THE SON OF RAGE AND LOVE The Jesus Of Suburbia The Bible of none of the above On a steady diet of
Twitch continued to hum to himself as more and more people showed up at the meeting. Honestly, he didn't care so much about them being late; he didn't care about much of anything except having a good time, and of course, making sure everyone else did too. That was in his nature.
However, when the meeting went silent for Badeya, Strychnine Twitch stopped his songs out of respect for the fallen - or vanished - leader. He had respected her dutiful watch over the pack, her kindness to both species, and her ability to lead them peacefully. He of course, had no doubts about Streiter... the big ol' lion didn't even find him annoying! Now that was something.
Then the conversation switched to that of positions within the pack. Twitch's ears perked up as both canine and feline alike explained their positions. What was he? A lonely follower, a hunter. Sure, he would do his duties, and do them well, but he wanted to help more than just providing fresh kill for the Tribe. He wanted to make sure everyone knew that he supported them, not just that he was some random joker. That he believed in them, this Tribe, and this Tribe's philosophy.
"I'd be glad to help you Streiter!" he yowled over the murmuring of his tribemates. "Really, I don't mind! Maybe I can get everyone to start singing with me if I act as your right hand man, ahaha!" A small groan sounded out behind Twitch as he jumped up and started wagging his tail excitedly... though in his eyes was a look of pure determination. Sure, he was a goof, but a smart, and dedicated goof. "If you should fall you know I'll be there. To catch a call you know I'll be there. I'll go anywhere, so I'll see you there. I don't care if you don't mind, I'll be there not far behind. I would dare keep in mind, oh I don't care! I'll be there for you...."
He smiled up at his leader, wondering if the message was clear not just to him, but to his Tribe members as well. He was ready for some responsibility.

[/i] the large lion asked. Prime time could hint a bit of a command in his voice, the sound of a leader. His eyes narrowed lightly as if harsh words were striking his face, even though the words were not of that type. Quickly, the young lion situated his body so that his feet sat firmly beneath him - as they should. His eyes shown a slight curiosity about the group. He noticed the gaze of this leader strike down upon him. "You don't smell like Lexis. You don't smell like anything, actually."[/i] This statement caused Prime Time to recoil a bit, scooting back but remaining in his sitting position. He turned his face from the intimidating male in a short moment of thought before turning back to answer, the single tinge of fear struck and plastered across his face, buried deep within his eyes. "M-my name's Prime Time," he said in a soft voice. "I'm not from the Lexis originally but I hoped to join and that's why I've come..." his words faded into a whispered mumble as his gaze shifted towards the ground. His voice was timid sounding and unlikely to pose a threat to any of the others who had surrounded them, including the domesticated felines who were brave at heart. The male's ears lay back, flat against his head in shame, for he was not brave at heart as he assumed that most of this tribe was. 'How can't they be?' he thought to himself, 'They are fighting for peace and freedom amongst the canines and felines, their spirits must indeed be brave.' Prime Time's gaze drew towards the others who had gathered and he casually slunk back away from the leader of this tribe, his body low against the ground, but he didn't turn his face away from the strong features that made up their leader. Hearing the question about the previous members he knew it was obviously not intended to be addressed towards himself so he remained quiet, sitting off to the side, away from these tribe members, perhaps his future companions. Hop skip leap lunge. Pop drop loop plunge.
All in fair time, it was. All in fair time. Her wide brown eyes set themselves a flickering ont he lion leading the group. Now where had thatother one gone, the one who led Lexis before this? Now where oh wherehadhe gone!? Her flopped ears hunched backward for a moemnt. Switches in leadership aren't good! Oh no! Too much power on too new shoulders. Sorley unacustom shoulders. The black lips pulled back unhappily from her teeth. not good, but not bad either. For the time, any way. Op stared blankly at the lion, head slowly turning to the side. Her black face twithced, ears flashing abck forward, the half hanging ears pulling forwards instead. Indecisive.
The black and white mutt lurched around hte gathering group, her limber legs lurching out from under her in that odd military march she took up from time to time. "'Ello, new one" she piped, staring at the large golden feline with a look of interest for all of a second before turnign her head to peer at him sidewayswith mistrust. Askin' about ranks was he? Where did she fit into this one then? Omega? Probably. Not like she did much for anyone here. Tipping her head back around the Stabyhounmix plopped back on her haunches, taking on the aura of a fool.
She was amused, watching allof this. Where had the other one gone to? The question prodded at the back of her eyes, but even sheahd enough sence to keep it bottled up. Clamping her jaws, Operation stuck her tongue outbetween her front teeth in an attempt to silence herself. But that was rude wasn't it? Frowning now aroundher tongue, Op sucked it back in. Frowning intently at the congregation she had shoved herself into, she grimaced. Now where was Badeya? now this, frankly, would drive her mad for weeks. best find someone willing totlak to her bout it. After all that question would always lead to more.

He listened to his enthusiastic outburst, answering Streiter's request for a loyal, hard-working creature to come forward and offer their services. The lion could read the excitement on the dog's face as he began to howl. He's high energy, a fairly elder member who probably knows a thing or two, and he's not too shy to step forward. I'll certainly keep him in mind... But first to see if anyone else offers their services.
Streiter looked at the lion, the young male known as Prime Time, with curious eyes. Was that fear? What did he have to be afraid of? Streiter shook off the question. "Son, what are your skills? I'm guessing that since you've survived life in Hexasol thus far that you're a capable fighter or evader. Am I incorrect?" he queried in a much softer voice than he had first regarded him with.
Suddenly another creature entered the clearing. He rolled his eyes, in a barely noticeable fashion. Why did everyone find it right to show up so late? Oh, well, not that the meeting was mandatory. He dipped his head in reply to her greeting and said, "Alright, then, new approach to this whole deal. Strychnine Twitch is going to be my right-hand man from now on. All who oppose speak up now or hold your peace forever."

His ears faced forward attentively but he kept his head low. "I'm guessing that since you've survived life in Hexasol thus far that you're a capable fighter or evader,"
|
[/i] the lion stated. The adolescent allowed his ears to fold back a bit and he squinted his eyes in a sort of shamed manner. "Am I incorrect?"[/i] It was true that if there was one thing Prime Time could be counted on it was that he would run away at the first signs of trouble or danger. His gaze slowly made its way up to the leader's eyes. "No sir," he said quietly. After a short pause he continued. "You are correct. I usually avoid where conflicts occur, therefore," - he let out a short sigh - "many have a right to call me a... a coward." Even being that type of being he had stated he himself wasn't afraid to admit it, especially in front of Streiter, leader of the Lexis tribe. If this was the place he truly wanted to stay and live then he knew to just stick to the truth, even if it was painful. Turning his face away but keeping his body in its previous position, he wrapped his tail around the front of his paws. The feline's eyes squinted in the darkness, trying to clearly make out the forms of the others surrounding him. Instantly he felt regret towards mentioning this possibly fatal flaw in his personality. Momentarily he had forgotten their presence as well as Streiter's and his own. How would the rest of the tribe take it? He could never be sure but he assumed there would be those who would not handle the simple fact well. Streiter closed his eyes to listen, forcing his heart to slow and also for his mind not to judge. More likely than not, this male was more than his cover spoke. Insecure and fumbling over his own lack of confidence, softly stuttering. Streiter wondered, was he really so frightening? Would being such a large creature deter new members? That wasn't the point right now; again her focused on Prime Time, eyes opening as he mentioned being a coward.
Streiter shook his head firmly and replied to him, "No, son. Avoiding conflict doesn't make you a coward. Not in most situations." His eyes locked with the other male's and he continued with something of a smile, "That's what the Lexis Tribe is about. We avoid a battle as often as we can manage. We owe it to Hexasol, to the humans, and to the fallen creatures of the city before us to unite the canines and felines once and for all. Peace is what we're after, and by the looks of you, young sir, you will be of great assistance to our journey on the path of peace and resolution."
