The sun disappeared behind the horizon leaving streaks of brilliant color spread across the dark blue canvas of sky. On the opposite end large, violent rain-filled clouds lurked promising a severe storm at a later hour. On top of a hill a large brick building rested. It appeared to be quite old, and adorned with several crosses. Amber eyes peered out from the tree line, staring at the odd building with such different architecture than all the other buildings found deeper in the city of Hexasol. The creature's brows furrowed as he noticed something else quite odd about the structure before him. It had a glowing orb of light. Something that had mostly burned out around the city by now. The little orb burned on, setting atop of it's pole. The canine stared at it for a bit longer, comfortably enveloped in the world's silence and darkness.
CAWH-CAWH! Seconds later a large black shape busted from the undergrowth, causing the canine to jump up in surprise. The fur on his neck bristled into an erect position, as the crow flew past the canine snapped viciously at it. Agitation rolled off him in waves. Another final deep snarl was released before the male's muscles relaxed and he settled down once more. Only a few ebony feathers floated down around him. The bird had made it's way into the fenced in area around the large structure. Picking at some mound of flesh. Just then the wind direction changed, sending a whole new batch of scents into the canine's nasal passages.
A multitude of scents came to him most were the regular, a few fellow tempest dogs, a feline or two, but there was more. The dog breathed in closing his eyes to focus solely on the scent. Death. Humans. The dog's eyes flashed open and ears stood totally forward. Giving him more of a german shepherd like appearance. Humans. This bust have been a burial ground for humans. Intrigued by this, the large male strode forwards heading towards the large building. Every step closer the stench of humans got stronger. What if one of them had survived? What if? Thoughts sped through the male's mind. None of them quite making sense. Finally, the mutt reached the door. Two large golden crosses adorned it. Just as the dog started to paw at the door a newer scent hit him. Tempest. One of his own pack was in the area.
A few seconds past and the sound of paws scuffling through the grass caught the male's attention. He didn't feel endangered, but he stopped his small attempt at opening the door, and looked up at the crosses. Sighing softly, the male released deep german accented tones directed to the unknown pack mate.
"Good evening,"

It had been a typical day in Tempest. A few little squabbles had initiated in the asylum, leaving some other dog to come in and break it up, sending the brawlers off on their way. The hunting had been fair, or so it had seemed, and the hunters had returned with a good sized catch. And just like the rest of the week, the heat had been horrible, the heavier coated dogs were miserable, and even those who had lighter coats hadn't been too happy, because even if the heat wasn't as bad for them, it was still very hot.
June had spent the day to herself. She'd gone around to the cliffs, the cemetary, and wandered the asylum without really seeing anyone, and eventually she drifted out of their territory. She stayed to the side of the main roads, in the dirt, to keep her paws off the heated tar, and made her way through the city. Along the Straight Bit there weren't many dogs or cats about, only the occasional sight of a tail disapearing into a shaded alley or off towards the river for a drink. It was nearing sunset, and she knew it would probably be smarter to return to the asylum for the night. She shook her head, trotting on towards the church, knowing it was a nice place to stop, and there might be a rat or two for food. As she approached, she sniffed the air, noticing a fresh Tempest scent. A packmate was nearby, probably had the same idea as her and wanted to get away from the madness. As she approached the church, a loud rustle of wings and a bout of 'caw's jumped her, the crows surprising a yelp out of the female dog as she stopped, spinning towards the sound. She growled, muttering about the idiocies of birds and how they were worth nothing more than the meat on their fragile little bones. She then continued on her way, walking now as she appraoched the church, only to be surprised by a voice. "Good evening," June looked over, spotting the dog at the door. She sniffed the air, identifying the Tempest scent from earlier, she smiled faintly. "Evening. It's nice out, isn't it?" She responded, keeping her voice soft. "I don't believe we've met. I am June, and you?"

"Talk"
A storm was coming. For the first time of the summer, a decent shower was going to loose water upon the baked earth. It had been so unbearably hot in the last days that even for a short-furred cat like himself, the heat had been difficult to live with. Fortunately, the river was close by to have a dip. He was returning from it, damp but cool, his pawsteps quiet on the ground. He kept of the asphalt, as it would surely burn his paws, having burnt in the sun all day. Now gone, the light was slowly declining, the orange in the sky beautiful in the horizon. There was a kind of magic to sunsets; the end of the day, return of the night, the never ending cycle of light and dark. Look at me, getting all philosophical, he thought.
He veered towards the church, knowing he could take shelter within it's wall and that it wasn't in any pack territory. He could see the bell towers, looming high over the trees and houses. It was rather beautiful with the golden crosses at the top there. The doorway was large and ornate, but the huge oak doors were hanging on their hinges. He slipped inside, finding a nice place on one of the benches. He closed his eyes, only aiming to rest his eyes. He had underestimated his fatigue because in moments, he had gone to sleep.
He was walking back with his two sisters, their hunt unsuccessful but proud of having escaped the dogs. They were just entering through the broken window, their parents greeting them with relief. It was their first time out after all, couldn't they be a little worried? The young kits were just telling them how they had escaped the canines when the group of dogs crashed through the door. Alcyone watched with horror as his parents attacked ferociously, telling them to run. But he couldn't move. He was petrified. The dogs killed his parents, and they turned toward him. . .
He woke up with a sharp gasp, eyes wide with fright. It took a second or so to figure out where he was and that it was a nightmare. He had had that dream before. His ears suddenly picked up the end of a phrase: - June, and you? He froze, scenting the air. They were canines, one male, one female. But what was worse was that they were both from the Tempest pack. His heart skipped a beat, concern settling in his heart. He forced himself to think logically. They may have heard him because of his dream. He looked around him, looking for an escape route. He saw a big contraption with many pipes sprouting out of it which he could use as an escape. There were also a couple of broken windows. He would have to see what they did to formulate a plan.

I don't believe we've met. I am June, and you?" soft female tones answered his greeting only seconds after his own greeting. Franz allowed his eyes to linger upon the golden crosses for a few seconds before turning is full attention to the Tempest female. He'd seen her a few times. She was pretty enough, her coat closely resembling that of a wolf. He let his eyes trace her frame. June. June was her name. "Pleasure is mine, liebe*. I go by Franz." he nodded stiffly in her direction. Conversation wasn't something he was particularly searching for tonight. A sudden 'zap' followed by a 'pop' sound caught his attention then the entire area was coated in darkness. The human constructed ball of light finally died out. Franz stared into the direction of it's pole. Sighing, Franz shook out his pelt and turned his attention back to June, who was still standing in front of him. "Did you happen to witness this evening's events in the asylum?" he asked tones laced with handsome depth, yet a hint of fatigue. Jaws parted to release a yawn when it hit him. A small gasp came within the building.
All senses stood on end. Franz's tail instinctively rose, showing whomever it was if they could see that he was not in the mood for games. Amber eyes grazed over June, trying to gather if she had heard it or not. Franz gave her a short nod to try and silently excuse himself. For leaving a lady in mid conversation was quite rude, but it would be more rude to expose her to unknown danger, even if she was a solider. Franz took a few soundless steps closer to the doors. As soon as he did so scent almost as fowl to him as the scent of urine or feces blasted him in the face. Cat. Even worse, a fairly large cat. Franz immediately became angered at himself for missing it the first time. How long had that feline been in there? The male's fur stood on end and his hackles raised showing long, white canines. This creature deserved instant extermination. In fact, it was his duty as a Tempest dog to do so. Before entering the building, Franz looked towards June trying to call her over with his eyes.
Long snout pushed the door open sharply, creating more sound than what was probably necessary but seeing as this creature probably outweighed him by a considerable amount it was a good idea to try and throw in some intimidation factor. Rising moonlight flooded into the dim cobwebbed building. Long rows of benches spread in front of him with a wide aisle way separating them. Franz released a vicious snarl before taking another confident step forward.
"Show yourself!" he barked loudly, making his words very loud, quick and threatening. No matter how large this feline was, he would be exterminated. Just like the rest of his pathetic race.
