HEDLEY
------
Three years • Male • Canine • Red Fox • Lexis • ??
------
PERSONALITY |
A sneaky man can get the secret, a sarcastic man can fool the unintelligent. Hedley is a rather secretive fox, keeping secrets to himself and controlling them with ease - however, he is a very sneaky and cunning male. Much like how the humans refer to foxes being sneaky - Hedley lives up to this stereotype - being as sneaky little fox since birth - however not everyone is sneaky enough that they never get caught, and when Hedley is caught he reserves back into a natural safety - his sarcasm. Hedley is a difficult male to understand when he gets into his 'safety net'. He will answer everything asked towards him with a sarcastic tone - or imply that a straight answer is not needed, and waddle away.
But this does not imply that he is a sarcastic, sneaky bastard. Oh no - he is in fact one of the well rounded males, who has a balanced soul - his heart is kind, and he will let anyone in with ease and accept their dark sides before he takes any action in judging them. He seems a little bit shy or reserved when you first greet him, but he slowly opens up just for those few he can call friends. He's loyal to all those who are willing to have his back, and quite a brave male to stand up for his beliefs in peace and calm for the city of Hexasol. However the loyal, kind-hearted and brave male is quite the gentleman too. He has been known to offer a female his meal in hopes that he can prove he's not always that sneaky, cunning, sarcastic bastard.
But sometimes while he can come off as a very friendly and outgoing male, with an intelligent side - he can be that cursing and hateful male. He's got quite the temper that can unleash a rather rude and unpredictable male who will snap his jaws are just about anyone. Which leads one to question if he does have any mental disorders - which in fact he does not. He is just a well rounded male with a few flaws that can be called upon easily. But he's friendly most of the time - or at least tries to be. He can not be blamed for felines or canines who repeatedly ask him questions that egg him on.
One can call him creative. He's got a wicked imagination, that can lead to some outstanding - fictional - stories. Of glorious battles between humans and animals, to stories of the star-cross lovers. He enjoys the youngsters of the tribe and enjoys spilling stories upon their paws even if some of them are twice the size of him. He is always eager to help with the youngsters, even going as far as babysitting them for the parents if they are needed elsewhere - and Hedley does not mind at all. He is quite light on his feet and enjoys playing mindless youngster games such as tag and hide & seek with them. However while he loves youngsters, he rather not have a mini him running around the place.• likes | Walking. Hedley loves to mindlessly walk around Hexasol. It is an interesting city and he has a lot of desire to explore the home that he has come to love - despite the rivalries. Story Telling. Hedley loves telling stories, fictional or stories with facts - it is always a joy to read to the youngsters and explain history, or fiction to them. Youngsters. They are his pride and joy in the pack - he enjoys playing games with them, keeping their youth and even restoring some of his lost youth.
• dislikes | Pointless War. Of course, if you actually provoke the war, you've brought it upon yourself. But when the town can hold the three groups of animals, why can they not live together in harmony? Pointless war disguises him, he rather die in a battle provoked, not pointless scuffles for territory. Traitors. Loyalty in a Tribe (pack or pride) is important and one would do well to understand that. Hedley has a clear mind set that traitors should be treated as such, and punished heavily. However he is not all cruel. Liars. Liars are a personal dislike he has - but he can not say much on the subject, because he has told his share of lies. He may hate liars - in a sense himself - but he will not acknowledge that sometimes a liar needs to lie in order to remain alive.
• goals | Become a Father. Despite his rather forward personality of not wanting a mini-him running around, he very much would love his own kits. However adopted kits or his own flesh in blood, he already has partially complete. He considers the youngsters he tells stories too his person family.
• fears | Abandonment. He fears abandonment, rejection and being forgotten. He does not want to be forgotten, for he fears he will never be remembered. He does not want to be abandoned in fear of loosing his only home. Rejection is something he could live through but the pain of rejection would leave him in a haunted mood.
• strengths | Creativity. He has a certain creativity that can be called upon a strength, he can entertain a youngster is he tries hard enough, and yet he can creatively think of many aspects of war in his mind, but speaking such is not want he wants. Loyalty. He is loyal, which in it's self is a great aspect to have in a group of felines and canines. He trusts his fellow tribe members to have his pack and he is trusted to back them up. He however shows loyalty as much as he can in everyday life. Hunting. He is a stealthy hunter and uses his small size and fox instinct to catch small enough prey for the tribe - however he does do well with gathering as well.
• weaknesses | Youngsters. He has a weakness for youngsters, they are in fact young and don't know what they are doing or what they have to do. He would rather put his own life in danger then let a youngster die - so swapping him for a youngster of his own tribe being held capture is a must in his book. Old Injuries. Some days his old injuries will act up - like his old sprained ankle; which leaves him unable to really move his leg - waddling as such to keep from being a annoying lazy bum. Injured Canines/Felines. Regardless of your pack, pride or tribe Hedley is quite caring when it comes to the injured - he would protect them if he could and offer shelter, but he doesn't - honestly know - if it's because he's been injured and no ones helped him willingly - or if he just feels like he needs to help.
• mental disorders | None. Hedley has none known mental disorders - but one has been known to accuse him of bi-polar. However he does not have any and is just a moody fox sometimes. He sometimes will play along with felines or canines if they accuse him of disorders - just to see what they will say.
APPEARANCE |
Described as a slightly just about avenge from the shoulder down in height - one will see that not only is he of bigger built but he is slightly lighter then most males. He however is a far better runner then most will know and so he is leaner because of this. However when the weather acts up his hind leg acts out and he waddles a bit. Now from built to his fur, you can tell by the texture that it's appears rough, but it's in fact very soft and slightly shorter then normal - however from the base of his tail is short hair, it grows longer and fluffier until at the tip it's a darken brown colour. He however will admit that he loves his very fluffy tail because it provides the best pillow. His fur is mostly a ginger colour - a trait that red foxes have and are more commonly known to have. He however has black paws that have small patches - splashes - of dark ginger-red on his paws as well. The white of his fur is mostly located on his chest, the under part of his muzzle and his underbelly and the inside of his legs. However within the white he has some black as he does upon his ears. HISTORY |
Let's start from the very beginning. Back to a time where Hedley wasn't even alive, back to his parent's time on this planet. It's not a known fact, but Hedley is actually Hedley II. So let's start with a bit of a parental background. I will explain Hedley I first.
Hedley was a wild-born red fox who's mother was run over by a car - six and a half years ago. The woman who ran the Hedley I's mother over brought the small fox into her house to raise - clearly not thinking about the fact that she could be charged - just simply helping the helpless fox grow. Hedley I looked exactly like his only living son - and despite growing up in a home with humans - he kept that wild adventure-seeking side. However when the humans were wiped out of the town he fled through the opened window and vanished without a trace into the night. Hedley I would emerge two years later, more mature and with a young vixen with him. This leads us to Gwen's upbringing.
Gwen was a forest-born fox who grew up wild and at the tender age of six months, Gwen took her independence and fled from her family. She however stumbled across Hedley I and in fact when they first met her name had been Fern - but because of her dislike for the name - and Hedley's idea that Gwen would be better suited - she changed her name willingly. Gwen helped Hedley I adept to the life of a wild fox and when they stumbled back onto the city of Hexasol Gwen was heavily pregnant with her and Hedley's kits and alas - stumbled upon the Iris Pride. Gwen fled and Hedley passed away as she fled. She gave birth to three kits - two stillborns but the last was born breathing and she named him Hedley after his late father.
Hedley was born in April Third, a nice spring day. However Hedley II (we will just call him Hedley from here on out) was a bit of a rascal. He and his mother joined the Lewis Tribe not long after Hedley grew to be seven months. Gwen - much to Hedley's displeasure, left the tribe one day and never returned - leaving Hedley to live with the tribe. As a young male fox, he would run about the tribe exploring things and sticking his nose where he shouldn't. He was eventually hurt because of his curious nature - which led to trash cans landing and spraining his hind leg when he was a year old.
At a year and a half he was able to walk normally again and do as he pleased - but his pride was hurt and he became a bit of a sarcastic male. He used sarcasm to cope and after another half year and he was playing with the youngsters - enjoying their youth compared to his two years. That was when he began to tell stories, his first was about a Princess of the Canines who fell in love with the Prince of the Felines and they strived to be together - like the animal version of Romeo and Juliet. He was excited by the excitement of some of the youngsters. As he aged he decided to play games with them and even went as far as to play physical games that wore him out faster then it would others. Now he is three years old and still rolling.
• season born | Spring.
• place of birth | Hexasol.
• family | Hedley's name sake was his father, a red fox himself who at a young age had lost his own mother and was adopted by a human for his young age. When the humans died out, Hedley's father broke free from the house and fled the dying humans. Hedley's father soon meet Hedley's mother Gwen who gave birth to Hedley three years later new the Lewis Tribe. Hedley had two sisters who were stillborns.
• memorable events | Story Telling. He remembers the first time he ever told a story to the youngsters, it was fun, and entertaining to watch a few youngsters.
SAMPLE |
Picture the landscape - hilly and covered in white fluff. Snow glistening so white that is could blind a creature if the light bounced off it right. Sore, tired eyes cast their glance upon the glistening snow. The hill's shape transforming to that of metal buildings and crumbling stone. Barks in the distance signalled a pack of canines and in the opposite distance the mewls of felines challenged the canine's barks. The softer mewls and barks in a much shorter, closer distance brought warmth and safety to the ears of the creature in the shadows. Brown eyes turned a sharper orange colour as the light steadily shown down into them - giving way to the canine structural of a fox. Long swishy tail flicking against the steadily fall snow as it drifted in lazy lumps from the sky above. 'How beautiful... the sky is weeping frozen water droplets.' Of course the fox stepped forward once more and this time the small limp that accrued from it's hide leg made it appear as if the fox had waddled slightly.
"Damn leg." The curse left the fox's lips in a lower tone - clearly imply the fox was non-other then male. Muzzle thrust forward sniffing the snow that floated from the sky - only then did the fox lift his leg and wince at the pain. "Why does it have to snow!" He whined slightly, his lips curling into a frown angrily at the pain shooting from his claws to his spin. 'Good heavens, will someone make it stop?!' He snarled as he thought this and moved forward once more tail flicking from left to right sharply pain edged onto the frowning face. His body tugged through the snow - over the littering trash and into the heart of Lewis Tribe's section - but the peaceful environment was not something he was looking forward too - although peace was a great thing, right now he wanted to rank his claws and teeth into something and let out his frustration. 'Like a log... oh yes a log would do just fine.'
Jaws parted slightly he slipped into the nearest building. Lips turning upwards as he spotted his favourite little kit. "Prickle... where is your mother?" He whispered lying down onto the cold stone, brushy tail wrapping around his paws as he settled to get comfortable. He heard the mewl of hunting! come from the kitten and waited for her siblings to arrange themselves around him - his frown turning into a smile. "Shall I tell you the story of love, hate or fear today?" The mewls of 'fear! ew... no hate!' Echoed from the six kittens sitting in their nest - however Prickle lifted her head and asked for Love!. He smiled softly his lips parting slightly and he began.
"Once, there was a female named Gwen who lived in fear of the world around her. She was but three years old and lost in the world of war, terror and hatred." He began, hearing the greeting of the kit's mother echo in his ears 'Good morning Hedley.' before he continued. "But Gwen was not alone in this - oh no. She had fallen for the head canine on the opposite side of the war, and he could not love a feline like her - never." Pausing again, he saw the enchanted love from Prickle, and he smiled. "Devon was his name and he was a proud German Shepard - he fought many fights against the felines and not once did he regret it - however, it was the day he meet Gwen that he saw something he never wished to see again."
Pausing to take a breath (and accept that lovely offer of food) he smiled up at the single mother and nodded his head. "They meet each other on the battle field - but they fell for each other, love so open that they hide it for a while - denying their desires until the day they stumbled across each other. 'My, my, my if it isn't Princess Gwen.' Devon barked in a charming tone. 'Ha Prince Devon - how fairs your father?' She mewls back and the two chat - at first with a caution tone, but the meetings they arrange and their caution turns to friendliness and from their to love and passion. Devon confessed his love one night as they laid below the stars watching - and Gwen replied to his confession 'And I shall love you until death parts us.'" He watched the kittens stare up at him with wonder.
"It was months later, that Gwen's father started a war against the canines - declaring them murderous creatures that should lay down and bow to the felines. But Devon did not dare do that and so he went to war with the King of Felines - his father approving of this choice. Devon fought Gwen's father, injuring the King of the Felines and within one strike Devon could of killed the King, the red covering Devon's version and all he could think of was winning this pointless war and rejoicing with Gwen later. But that was not what fate planned for him or for her." He paused dramaically, watching as Prickle and her sisters squealed 'More! More!'
"But his paws made contact with the face of a beautiful white cat - Gwen. 'How can you! You know he is my father Devon! Y-You truly are a murdering scum! You shall not hurt my father!' She cried. 'Move aside Gwen - I do not wish to hurt you.' He barked in panic, his whole body rigid as the barks and mewls of encouragement and anger rose from the crowd. 'Kill them!' Howled the canines. 'Murderer!' Hissed the felines, and Devon stood in the middle Gwen's face bleeding and her eyes pleading him to stop - to think and Devon's body tensed. 'I will not hurt you... Gwen...' He whispered softly but stepped back when the hissing cat leapt forward, 'My father! He is my father! You don't see me hurting those you love! I care for you Devon, but this.. this'" He stopped once more taking a deep breath.
"'Is to much Devon, allow me to make you choose. We can leave them - leave all this pointless war and start our own life together - or you can choose your pack and kill me as I stand.' Gwen yowled and her muscles tensed as she heard the hisses of 'Traitor! Canine Lover! Kill the Traitor!' from her side. Her family and friends hissing at her because of her heart's choice. 'Gwen... you know I can not leave the pack leaderless... oh Gwen... please don't walk away!' Devon snarled leaping after her, watching the smaller felines back up and away from his jaws as he grasped Gwen's scruff with his teeth. 'You, you stupid feline... always you.' He whispers as he see's her eyes look up as him with excitement and love. 'Then let us go - let them fight for their pointless war - let us rejoice in love.' She whispers and as he puts her down to touch noises, the two hear the loud mewls and barks of 'Traitors! Kill the traitors!'
He blinked as he noticed the kittens sleeping there eyes closed and soft snores coming from their lips. "It was kind of you to do this... thank you Hedley." Hedley - the fox - shook his head grinning and chuckling under his breath as he touched noises - friendly of course - to the female feline and grinned. "Not a problem, same time next week?" He barked excitedly and watched the female nod softly. Waddling from the building and into the building snow. The sun was setting now and Hedley shook his head softly, the sky seemed to bright before and now it seemed like it was dying giving way to the fear of night and Hedley waddled to wards his territory shoulder's hunched and head lowered. "I hope it's warmer tomorrow." He whispered to the growing shadows as he slipped from the street into the alley way.
