Amos was lonely. It was not something he was used, or accustomed too. His parents had pushed him away, forced him out into the big wide world, his siblings too had dispersed off. The black and white tom supposed that this shouldn't have been a problem, that he would relish the freedom and excitement, well he had done in the beginning but after six months of dashing off alone in adventure, Amos was missing some company. He was a sociable little cat, craving the companionship of a good friend, or anyone to be honest with you. He made friends easily, but lost them quickly too due to his over-enthusiastic, loud nature. Amos didn't mean to drive others away but it appeared that everyone he met would rather be out of earshot of the dual-toned feline. Now a full time loner, the cat was just starting to get used to being alone instead of Lexis. He had never really fitted in anyway but it was strange not to be surrounded by friends and family all the time.
Still, Amos looked at the positives. He didn't have anyone telling him what to do, he could go and explore wherever he liked without his mother scolding him profusely. The rotund, short-limbed tom cat trotting forward unsteadily. His paws scrabbled at the pavement as he approached the zoo. Amos had been planning a day trip for some time, and Hexasol Zoo was a place even he had never explored before. Perhaps it would take his mind off of the constant emptiness that had consumed him since being permanently alone. Slowing to walk, he puffed loudly as he was out of breath, yes even from that short trot. You could say he had never been the athlete of the litter. Amos padded forward, halting at the rusted green entrance gates. Wide bright eyes stared at the ticket booth, old, worn and unused. Where to start?
The tomcat decided to allow his nose to lead him further, as this maze of paddocks and enclosures was already confusing him. A strong pungent smell from one of the nearby enclosures drew Amos closer, waddling and squeezing through the bars. He sniffed the air, meandering along in his own time, before he finally came to what he had been following. Amos gasped, stopped short and tripped over his feet to stumble backwards. Rolling over, he immediately scrambled ungracefully onto his fours before staring, wide-eyed at colossal decayed carcasses of three African Elephants. The bones were showing, after years of decomposition, they gleamed yellow in the early morning haze. Cautiously, the cat crept forward.. woah this was bigger than any animal he'd ever seen before, what could it be? His parents had never told him there were creatures this large once in Hexasol, and he felt a pang of sadness that he had never seen them alive.
Growing in confidence, and holding his breath against the awful stench, Amos now bounded up to one of the long ivory spears that protruded from the beasts' skull. He gaped in awe at its strength and size as he prodded it with one of his small chubby paws, amazing! If only he had some company to share this incredible discovery with, Amos sighed once more.

"Speech" • Actions • Thoughts
I'd be a wonderful hermit, Chell mused to herself, I haven't spoken to anyone in days. The tabby wandered through the city zoo, feeling right as rain in her solitary position. She honestly hadn't come close to talking to anything in Hexasol for the last few days. She'd been spending all her time in the zoo, collecting bone samples, and where she found it, decaying flesh. It was a little gruesome, even for Chell, but she lacked her sense of smell and taste. Thus being able to carry fowl things in her jaws (such as decayed flesh) without so much as flinching. It was the mental idea of such a thing that made Chell stop to consider, but science wasn't going to do itself, now was it? With these bones and skins samples, she could figure out the movement and physical body of animals she'd never seen.Of course, she wasn't always right, but she prided herself in the work she was doing. But she'd be able to see what confinement did to the bone structures of the creatures she found, see if it made them weaker compared too wild creatures. Also, the effects of toxins and chemicals on decaying flesh would be absolutely inspiring to see. According to her atlas (she looked at pictures mostly, but was starting to understand the concept of reading), she'd collected samples from an antelope, wolf, bobcat, and chimpanzee.
And today was the elephants.
She'd seen the pictures of them in her animal books, and simply couldn't believe how giant and massive they were. Completely fascinating! Chell decided that it had to have been fate that lead her to the elephants in the zoo. They were big and beautiful and gorgeous, regardless of their protruding bones and rotting skin. Chell had practically fainted when she saw them the first time. The tabby looked back on it as she trotted down the cracked paths, and chuckled to herself. She had been so excited and mystified by it all.
The tabby turned the corner, nearing her destination. The air was brisk and cool and clean, an enjoyable break from the hot, muggy weather of summer. Autumn was in the air, and everyone had a reason to celebrate. The prey was returning, and frequent storms provided enough water to sustain the population of Hexasol and its surrounding areas. Personally, Chell's favorite season was the fall, the colors of the changing leaves and comfortable breezy air were all very pleasant. But it was a subtle reminder to the striped feline that winter was not too far off. Chell was originally from Cario, and was not accustomed to the harsh, brutal winters of Hexasol. As she traveled, the winters had gotten worse, so she assumed this was the farthest north she'd been. And thus this would be the coldest winter she'd yet to deal with. The temperature as it was, was enough to give Chell a little extra in the fur department. Her course fur was very slowly beginning to develop its winter like features. Today was a nice day, Chell supposed. It was sunny, cool, and occasionally a grey cloud would drift over the sun. It was a nice day, but the tabby supposed that rain would come sometime in the evening, or early the next morning.
Chell padded through the elephant enclosure, a tad oblivious to her surroundings. Her sense of smell didn't warn her about the stranger who too had discovered the elephant carcasses, and she was to caught up in the weather to notice the small paw-prints in the dirt. When she did look up, however, the black and white feline made her jump. Where the hell did he come from?! She thought, flattening the fur on her spine. He didn't notice her as soon as she entered the enclosure, though, the smell of rotting elephant was probably enough to cover any scent. Chell stood awkwardly as the stout (if that's how one would put it) tom examined the great tusks. Chell stood back and admired them herself. Those huge bones could probably knock over trees in one foul sweep. Simply brilliant, it was.
Chell flicked her tail, and approached the stranger. He was a little black and white tom, a bit on the chubby side, but that was a sign of great health. Unlike the tabby, who could count the ribs along her side, and feel the hunger rake her belly. This stranger must be a fine hunter, an admirable quality. "Aren't they magnificent?" |
Chell meowed, as she came up along side the black and white tom. She gazed up at the mighty beast, imagining how they must have towered over all other beasts, and ruled their homeland with a graceful, lumbering, power. "They're called elephants, if you want to know. Loxodonta africana" The tabby told him. Chell was an introvert by nature and by choice, but she always loved to inform and to teach. And with somebody willing to learn, the tabby felt her tongue loosen and her worries slip. She could stop being a hermit-cat for just a little while, now. - - - OOC Words • 848 Muse • Good Comment • Sorry it's so late. Awe unfolded within him, deep resounding fascination filling his heart and mind. This was the reason he had strayed away from Lexis, from his family; exploration, investigation, adventure. The excitement of discovering new things daily was like an addiction for Amos, he just couldn't ignore the familiar tug in his chest no matter how hard he had tried. He just couldn't sit around all day and wait for life to cross his path, no he wanted to be the one to go out there and grab everything by the horns. Sure, he wasn't the cleverest spark and granted, he wasn't the quickest off the block but heck Amos tried. He was so full of zest, of life and nothing so far had spoiled that for him. The male had lived an easy, pampered life within the Tribe. Of course things had got harder, he wasn't the best hunter in the world but he found that hunting alongside scavenging from others kept him pretty well fed. The plump feline scented the air, wondering whether he was alone. Unfortunately for him it turned out that the stench of decaying bodies mixed with practically everything else in this strange, caged environment barred his nasal senses a little. It was only as he was standing looking into the eye socket of the large dead animal that he realized he had company. His ears picked up the soft patter of light paws, and then the curious voice of a she-cat sounded behind him. Amos whirled around in pure, undiluted excitement and quite honestly grinned madly, before bounding forth to meet her. Sadly, she too had decided to take a few steps forward and this meant that the young black and white cat collided noses painfully with the tabby. He grunted and landed in a heap in front of her, but despite the tears that streamed from his wide blue eyes, Amos merely laughed. Hysterically that was too. Some would have said it rude and bad-mannered yet they did not understand that the little tom never meant any harm to anybody. It was just a shame that he was somewhat foolish, and incredibly immature. He wanted to please the world, but in his attempt it seemed he just about got in the way of everybody. Swishing his short tail, Amos heaved himself to his paws and jumped up at his fellow feline friend, hoping to rest his padded feet upon her shoulder. She was a great deal skinnier than her, and as he realized this he dropped back down again; not wanting to push her over. He lay down, gazing up at the pretty she-cat though even Amos could tell this feline was more than just a pretty face. Wonder and great intelligence flickered in those brilliant eyes and a look of awe passed across Amos's chubby face. He recalled her initial words, something about an el-.. ellyphant? He gulped down his exhilaration, beaming up at her stupidly. She must be incredibly clever to know such things, to know what this deceased beast was and this stirred a flicker of intrigue in him. Perhaps the tabby would teach him all the incredible facts and knowledge that she so clearly knew.. the thought made his paws tingle and he raked the earth with his sheathing and unsheathing claws. It was then that the conversational bubble rose within him, higher and higher until it burst. With one deep breath, Amos gushed out; "HEY! These bones are so amazing, do you really know what it is? Elephants, did you say? That's so freaking cool! Oh by the way I'm so so so sorry about bumping into you, are you alright? It's just I haven't seen anybody in ages, and I'm lonely and it's just great to see and hear another cat other than myself. Can we be friends, did you want something to eat you look hungry, or maybe you could tell me all about this crazy-ass beast over here? Wow, wouldn't it be amazing if we summoned it from the dead and it like.. came to life again and it did everything we told it to and we took over Hexasol with our new-found power. I'm Amos by the way, you have super pretty eyes, what's your name?" He stopped, gasping for breath but the blazing enthusiasm in his big eyes. donedonedone! [/scrolly]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz129/sorrelpaw102/ChellPostingTable3Middle.jpg?t=1345236459] Chell wasn't a psychic, so the reaction to her speech was downright surprising. The black and white tom whirled about, and on his face was the single most excited expression Chell had ever seen. Before the tabby even knew what was happening, a soft black nose collided with her own, quite painfully she might add. Her face was always a soft spot. The amount of scar tissue around her nose and mouth meant she was more perceptible to pain. The tabby fur on Chell's back rose slightly, her nose hurt, and this stranger had yet to utter a syllable. She cast her eyes down at the black and white tom, who had fallen into a heap at her dusky paws. Chell stared down at the stranger, his huge blue eyes streaming with tears quite like her own. As he started to laugh, Chell couldn't help but crack a tiny grin of her own. She hadn't wanted to, because she had previously been irritated by the plump tom, but his unbounded laughter and joy had spread into her skin like wildfire.
Quite a distance away, several crows were disturbed by another creature prowling the zoo. They took to the air, screaming in their scraggly, harsh tones. Chell turned her view to them, watching them take to the sky with an unsteady pace. Their black forms flitted through the air for awhile, before coming back down to a halt on the other side of the zoo. Chell stood staring into space for a few moments, and suddenly a heavy weight fell on her shoulders. The stranger leaned heavily against her, all smiles and excitement. Chell flattened her ears and was tempted to throw a hiss at the stranger's face, as her back legs trembled with the effort of keeping both herself and the black and white tom on their feet. Just as the tabby thought she could hold them no longer, the black and white tom seemed to catch on. He lay on the ground, gazing up at her with undiluted excitement shimmering in his gaze. Chell took a tiny step back, as to avoid any more potential attacks from the stranger. She lashed her orange and tabby tail and gave him a hard look. Perhaps he's a mute, Chell thought, a lonely mute. It would explain why he had been so excited to see her, and hadn't said anything yet. Let's just hope he understands body language, the tabby thought to herself. She made a point of sitting down carefully, licking down her chest fur for good measure. After she had done so, she let herself relax, ears flicking back forward, and tail coming to a soft rest behind her. Chell even managed a small smile.
Chell couldn't help but marvel at what must have been going through his head. She bore into his eyes, trying to get into his head and move around in his skin. A lonely mute finding an elephant, and then another feline. It must be simply marvelous for him, and Chell vaguely wondered what life would be like as a mute. Painfully hard, she guessed. It was then that an excited voice, which could have only belonged to the ivory and soot tom, rung in her ears.
Chell furrowed her brow at this. He's obviously not a mute, she mumbled in her head, just lonely. The tabby was indeed overwhelmed by this speech, and simply didn't know where to begin. She stood with her mouth opening and closing, trying to grasp at one of the many questions the tom had asked. Finally, she clamped her mouth shut, knowing she must look silly flailing her mouth around like that. She twitched her short little whiskers before attempting a reply to Amos. She paused, rolling the name around in her head. Amos. Huh... "Uhm, thank you Amos. My name is Chell," the tabby meowed, dipping her head slightly. "scientist extraordinaire. It's very nice to meet you, and you don't have to worry about me," Chell rubbed her stinging nose gently with her paw. "I've had worse." She smiled, "Yes! Now, Elephants were the kings and queens of their realm. As you can see from these carcasses, they were practically the biggest animal on the savanna," She lept over Amos, careful not to land on his tail, and padded to the elephant, who lay crumpled and very much dead. She flicked her tail before taking a small jump up onto the elephant's tusk. She landed with a small slip, but managed to keep herself settled on the bone. "The savanna was where the elephants lived, along with lions and antelope, and a whole matter of other creatures. The elephants seemed to be so strong that lions nor any other predator could hunt them, even in their prides." She explained. "Unfortunately, I have no hopes as how to make this elephant become alive again. For something such as reanimation of the dead, I recommend a witch or wizard." Chell nodded her head softly. She'd once met a she-cat who had claimed to be a witch. She was quite the odd-ball, and Chell had scampered out of her sights long before she reached Hexasol.
The tabby wasn't all that high up off the ground, hardly high at all, really, and jumped down from the tusk with ease. She padded to Amos and sat in front of him again. She had nearly forgotten everything he had said, but the memory of food trickled into her thought and Chell's stomach made a low rumbling noise. "Perhaps a hunt would serve two better then one," She meowed, "We can always come back to our friend here." Chell took another look at the decaying elephant, her eyes sweeping over it, simultaneously gathering data and imagining this beast alive and well.

Amos's big blue eyes widened further when he saw the fur on the tabby's back rise, and he stumbled back a pace or two. Many a time the black and white tom had annoyed a character or two, and had indeed ended up with a scratch across his face. That was until she allowed a small smile to work it's way onto her pretty little face, and at that moment he straightened up once more and beamed brightly at her. The chap was still catching his breath after speaking so long and so quickly, his rounded stomach heaving in and outwards in a mixture of excitement and unfitness. His small fluffy ears pricked at the sound of crows taking flight into the bright air, and for a few seconds Amos simply stared in amazement as the black avians soared out of sight. He could never quite get over the fact creatures could actually fly! He therefore missed her lashing tail and hard gaze, merely staring at the sky as though hoping to see another bird or two.
Suddenly he heard a quiet, calming voice and Amos whirled his head round to face her, wearing delightful grin. She was actually talking to him, she hadn't made a run for it yet! Woah, this girl must be super cool and friendly to wanna chat to me. It was true that many felines barely wasted two minutes on the tiny rotund male, for his large voice and childish behaviour. This was therefore another reason for his desperate attempt to engage with her, to spark her interest in him maybe. Unfortunately, Amos didn't seem to realise that his astonishing dialogue was more likely to driver her away. Chell, what a pretty name. He smiled at her, nodding his head in greeting and admiration for her simple but attractive calling. "Blimey, I've never heard of a scientist ex-" He paused for a second, thinking the it over in his mind and frowning slightly. Once more the young male grappled with the word, "I've never heard of an extronair before. "
He gasped a little as she began to tell him about the elephants, his tail lashing from side to side subconsciously and his claws scratching at the earth below. How did Chell know of such things, "Woah, you must be the cleverest cat in all the world!" Amos's small mouth gaped open for a moment or two, staring up at her in complete awe. He watched her approach the great decaying beasts, following her movement avidly. The tabby queen reminded him of his mother a little, collected, controlled, calming. She never seemed out of her depth or control, and for a moment the dual-toned cat envied her. He was never able to hold back his thoughts, nor command his feet very well either. Everything he did was clumsy, un-thoughtful and just down right unco-ordinated. Speech and all. He sighed inaudibly, casting his gaze towards his paws for a second and gathered his thoughts.
His mood however was over in a flash, gone quicker than it had come and once more his attention was grabbed by her intelligent words. "Omg. Could you imagine that, never having to worry about being hunted by dogs or lions or anything. Sweet jesus, I'd give a months worth of mice for that." He frowned slightly, as thinking this through for a moment and sighed as she pronounced the fact she'd never be able to revive the dead pachyderms, however she did recommend a witch or a wizard. Amos nodded, memorizing her every word for he knew that one day this would all be useful information. The black and white tom smiled as she approached him once more, and mentioned hunting. He wasn't personally that eager for food but it would appear that Chell was, and Amos would do anything to please his new friend. The idea of losing her and with her, companionship, made his whiskers tremble unpleasantly.
Bouncing up and down, he grinned wildly. "I'd surely love to Chell, where do you suggest?" He gazed up at her with big blue eyes that swelled with admiration and warmth for the tabby queen, his tail curling up over his short body. His paws scuffed up dust that clouded behind him before settling on his short scruffy fur, "Hey, do you smell that?" A strong pungent stench littered the air, and Amos narrowed his eyes in concentration. Oh where've I smelt that before? Come on think you pancake! His back instinctively arched, and his claws retracted in out with involuntary fear. The horrible aroma was overwhelming now, and Amos glanced upwards. "I- I think we should leave." Suddenly a low venomous snarl sounded from behind them and a flash of red burst from the overgrown vegetation. Fox, of course! He squealed, pushing his tabby companion hard with his front paw and dashing towards the entrance as fast as his stumpy legs could carry him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i820.photobucket.com/albums/zz129/sorrelpaw102/ChellPostingTable3Middle.jpg?t=1345236459] Chell remained pensive about this stranger, Amos. He was a cute little character, for sure, full of awe and admiration of the world around him. The tabby wasn't quite sure what to make of him, for she had never really come across another feline quite his-self. The pudgy black and white tom seemed starved for a friend, and Chell could honestly see why he probably didn't have many. His antics were nearly enough to drive Chell away, but her curiosity for the stranger and the elephants planted the tabby queen deep into the ground. Chell couldn't help but smile at Amos, her eyes lighten into a tiny brightness. Though the black and white tom was strange, he wasn't boring, and Chell found herself to be quite amused with his dialect.
The tabby felt a slight warmth brush her cheeks, the mere thought of being 'cleverest cat in all the world.' made her smile, in short. She felt flattered my his admiration, and quite liked the idea of someone else thinking she was clever. Chell simply laughed lightly in response, shaking her head. "No, certainly not the most clever." The tabby queen did think about it for a moment. Certainly, there was nobody like her that she'd met one her travels to Hexasol. But certainly, there would have to be smarter animals out there, be them cats or dogs or even horses. Hexasol was just a speck of dust compared to the entire world.
Chell tilted her head, eyes narrowed with a slight confusion. Amos certainly had a strange tongue, not one that the tabby could say she was familiar with. Omg? She thought to herself, I'll need to be asking someone about that, such a strange saying. Chell though it was strange this black and white tom would go a month without mice to be an elephant, and so had a perplexed look on her scarred jaws. Glancing over at massive, dead beast again, she concluded that as big and magnificent as they were, elephants were not built for agility, or beauty. The tabby decided she wouldn't really like to be an elephant, especially a caged one, such as this creature. "Ah, I wouldn't quite say they were never hunted," Chell corrected herself, tilting her said at Amos. "When I said they never scummed to predators, I had forgotten about the man. Humans could destroy anything," The tabby queen paused, her expression changing from serious to a good-natured smile. "Except the virus." Chell watched Amos carefully, her yellow-green eyes staring through his, bright and blue. Sometimes it would depend on who you asked, but if you ever talked about humans with house-pets, many hidden emotions would surface. Chell looked over the black and white tom again, almost laughing at herself. Amos was much too young to have lived with the humans.
The tabby watched Amos bonce, literally, with excitement at the prospect of hunting. She couldn't help but chuckle at him. My, what must be going on in his brain... Chell thought to herself, twitching her short whiskers with amusement. "I'm don't really know, but I'm sure this zoo has rodents or birds scampering about. See?" |
The feline nodded her head at the decaying elephant, her tail motioning to the open sores and rotting flesh. "Some of them have taken a nibble of the elephant, unfortunately it must not have tasted to swell." Chell explained, but before she could go on Amos spoke again. The tabby felt her face become warm again. Amos was concentrating hard on something she couldn't. "Actually, I can't smell an-" The tabby queen started, but before she could the black and white tom became quite frantic and disturbed. What was he smelling?! Frustrated, Chell locked her eyes around the exhibit, searching desperately for something, anything, to give her a clue as to what was going on. When the tabby failed to find anything out of the ordinary, she instead concentrated on Amos. Her eyes were cold, calculating, lacking emotion in their concentrating depths. Suddenly, fear erupted on Amos, something that Chell could work with. Her fur stood, her back arched, and again her eyes raced around the enclosure, trying to find the creature that had upset Amos so. Just as the pudgy black and white tom spoke, Chell's eyes caught a tuft of red fur. The tabby glanced at Amos and nodded, but before she could speak a sound, menacing and great, sounded from behind Amos. The fox charged forward, menacing and ugly, obviously half starved to death. Chell's mind was a whirl, running through all the data she had collected or read about foxes, looking for weaknesses, speed, strength. Unfortunately, the tabby didn't know a great deal about foxes, they weren't particularly friendly animals, especially toward felines. Chell wasn't exactly sure where to go from there. Her eyes blinked rapidly, trying to process memories, data, and what was happening instantaneously. Her face warped, anger, fear, confusion, thoughts, seriousness, all in seconds. A hard shove from Amos brought her back to her senses, and the tabby pushed her mind farther into overdrive. Foxes were full of whit, speed, cunning. With Amos by her side, they'd never make it to the exit of the enclosure in time. Even if they made it that far, where would they go from there? Foxes can't climb, she thought, but they can jump. Chell lept into motion herself, charging at the fox, rather then away from it. "The door!" The tabby yowled, thinking as hard as she could. Hopefully Amos wouldn't stop to try and help. That was ruin the point of this. With two different targets, the fox wouldn't know where to go, which feline to choose. Once Amos was close enough, Chell was charge for the door and book it to the tallest tree she could find. Foxes either establish stable home ranges within particular areas or are itinerant with no fixed abode, Chell thought to herself in a whir, useless information speeding through her brain, each step inherently taking her closer to danger. The fox was mad, in simple terms, the tabby could count its ribs and could see the hunger in it's gaunt face. Poor thing. The tabby realized she was getting too close, the fox had slowed in confusion and was instead preparing to pounce. Chell skidded to a halt, turning on her hind paws and darting away from the fox, and also away from Amos. The tabby queen could hear the thud of the leaping fox behind her, and swiveled off in another direction. - - - OOC Words • 1087 Muse • Excellent Comment • ohhh, fox. if Amos wants to mess up Chell's escape plan feel free. xD Song • I HATE MUSIC. He managed to dart a few feet before skidding to a halt, what on earth was Chell doing? The black and white male whirled around to hear the tabby queen yell in his direction, she was charging towards the fox?! His big blue eyes bulged with confusion and horror, though he managed to pick up her desperate words. "The door!", panting fearfully the dual-toned fellow frantically searched for the entrance. He spied the open gates, but even for his small mind he knew that leaving now was an incredibly unjust decision. He could not just leave Chell here, if she died trying to save him Amos would never forgive himself. He had waited what felt like forever to be of some use to somebody, to mean something to someone. Maybe today he could make that happen. Taking in a deep breath of air, the tubby chap sprang into action.
He scrambled in the direction of the cat and fox, only to watch his feline friend's tail disappearing off in the other direction. The snarling, snapping red canine whirled around in an attempt to chase off it's potential threats. Amos slid to a halt once more and could feel every single fur on his little body rise in horror as the fox turned it's attention on him. The three year old took in the maddened creature for the first time, observing briefly it's gaunt and frail form. Every rib was visible and there was a distinct look of desperation in it's dark eyes, this alone made Amos feel for the poor guy. That however didn't erase the fact it was stalking towards him, brush raised aggressively. The tom floundered backwards, big blue eyes darting to and fro for any sign of Chell. It seemed she had made a dash for the other end of the enclosure, perhaps to slip through one of the bars? It's your only chance Amos, pull it together you pancacke!
Pushing hard on his stunted back legs, the black and white tomcat thundered off in the direction he had last seen his friend go. By the time he reached the bars, Amos was absolutely heaving and spluttering everywhere. He wheezed loudly, frantically hauling air into his expanding lungs. Glancing over his shoulder, the cat realised he was no longer being followed and he released a great sigh of relief. Grinning madly he squeezed himself through the tall green bars that surrounded the huge pen, though admittedly it took a small struggle to pop his rotund middle through the gap. In an almost strut-like manner, Amos strolled through an overgrown bush and emerged on a stretch of tarmac. It seemed this was a path the humans used to navigate around the zoo. He paused for a second and frowned. He felt as though he was forgetting something, something important. It took several moments before the light bulb shattered in his daft little head, Chell! Where had she got to?
Suddenly it hit him like a ton of stone bricks. She'd left him, alone. Forever. Emotion welled up inside his chest and Amos's behind slumped to the floor accompanied by a heartfelt sigh. He really thought he'd made a buddy back then, somebody who he could befriend and spend time with. The tabby had interested him with her wise words and speculations, she was intelligent and just darn right amazing. His black and white head hung low with sadness at losing yet another person, rubbing one of his blue eyes with a soft paw. What did you expect, nobody sticks around anymore. Amos knew that he didn't have any friends but this was just another reminder of how disliked he was. For the first time in his entire life, the tomcat felt like wallowing in self pity. "Why does everyone hate me?" Despite his embarrassed attempt to swallow the sadness, he could not help the singular tear drop that rolled down his small cheek. Amos watched it splash on the asphalt and pool by his paws.

"Speech" • Actions • Thoughts
No, no, no! Chell snarled to herself, neck arched over her shoulder just in time to see Amos charge for the fox. The tabby pushed herself, physically and mentally, trying to formulate some kind of a plan. The queen paused near the elephants, her face returning to the warping shock and whir of endless thoughts. Yellow-green eyes cast around the enclosure, looking for something to help her, anything! Any kind of sharp piece of rock she could maneuver, a rusted piece of iron... Foxes, also know as Vulpes vulpes are small to medium-sized canids (slightly smaller than a medium-sized domestic dog), characterized by possessing a long narrow snout, and a bushy tail. Ah, the hum of useless information. Chell was stuck in her place, thinking too hard to even breath.
The fox turned, snapping it's jaws in the tabby's direction before laying it's eyes on the courageous, albeit foolish Amos. The tabby queen ripped her eyes away, springing into action. I had a plan! She hissed in the back of her mind, Why doesn't anybody listen to the plan?! Her legs made haste for the edge of the enclosure. After the humans had died off, there was nobody to take care of the cages that surrounded the animal prisons. Shards of the turquoise, metallic material had splintered off, making for a fine weapon. Chell scanned several off them, looking for a certain shape. A shape she knew how to wield. Ah, there you are, the tabby smiled, delicately taking the rusted syringe shaped piece of iron in her jaws.
A million flashbacks, then. A syringe filled with a paralytic, and soft groan of pain as Chell let the venom enter her subject's blood. Now she could work with them, manipulate them so they wouldn't fight back or object to her musings. Forward, another syringe, a poison for those who were no longer of any use to her.
Chell approached the fox from behind. In the distance she could see Amos bumbling for the edge of the exhibit with a surprising speed. Tubby or not, the tabby thought, he can really get a move on when he wants to. That's adrenalin for you... Chell could feel the chemical in her own system, heightening the senses that remained and giving her paws wings. Finally, the tabby was close enough. Before the fox could start into motion after Amos, Chell lurched her head back, and then rapidly forward. The iron shard made contract with the course, flea ridden skin of the fox. The blow landed on the fox's left rear hip, leaving a sizable wound. A small amount of blood flashed up, settling on the bridge of Chell's nose and below her eyes.
The fox made a harsh cry, whirling around to face the tabby queen. It's eyes were a fierce, glowing amber, riddled with pain and fury. They were met by the cold, calculating view of a tabby and orange queen. Jaws snapped right over Chell's head, and the queen made an attempt to dart away, under the fox. It was a quick witted creature, though, even in it's current condition. The heavy body came down on top of her, flattening the tabby's underbelly to the soft, caked dirt. Chell writhed, squirmed with all her might.
She could feel the fox giving up. The tabby lashed out, breaking free of her the body over her. Chell dashed blindly for the edge of the exhibit, hoping to slip through the bars and make her escape. She had no idea where Amos had gotten too, she couldn't spot him anywhere in the exhibit. Hopefully he had gotten to safety and was waiting somewhere nearby. She'd just sniff- Chell cut the thought off, rolling her eyes. "You can't smell anything, genius." |
She mumbled to herself, slipping through the splintered bars that had helped her escape. How in the world was she going to find Amos without drawing attention to herself. The tabby queen had just about had enough of fighting for the day. Chell came through the underbrush, treading her paws on a soft path of sorts. She cast yellow-green eyes in each direction, figuring they both must have gone around the entire exhibit. This was probably where the humans came to view the prisoners. How very entertaining, watching caged creatures, She thought wryly. Now, where was Amos? The plump black and white tom mustn't have gotten very far, Chell herself was out of breath from all the panicked running she'd been doing. The tabby and orange feline tried to get herself back into order, her brain already felt weary from the hyper-drive she'd put herself through. It was incredibly interesting to her, what she did. When she was threatened, her mind went into into an endless stream of facts, hardly any useful information crossed her mind. Chell reminded herself to try and work on that. Now, back to Amos. Chell had been padding around the path for several minutes, keeping a cautious eyes out for the overexcited tom and other potential dangers. The tabby queen found neither, and she frowned. Perhaps she should risk called his name, if any unwanted visitors answered the call, she'd scoot herself up one of the large, barren oak trees that lined the walkways. It wasn't that the feline was lonely, no, no. She was taught never to dismiss an acquaintance with bidding them goodbye. Amos himself was a curious character, and Chell would've found it rude had she not said goodbye to him. His mind was perplexing, she almost wanted to cut it out of his head and examine it. Of course, that would be beyond rude to do to an acquaintance, and the tabby decided against it. Chell sat on the edge of the human path, a perplexed yet thoughtful look on her maw. She glanced around her once more, looking for any upturned leaves where the black and white tom might have upturned while walking. The tabby found none, and took a deep breath. "Amos!" She shouted, nearly at the top of her lungs. Hopefully the other feline would hear it, and attempt a search for her. --- ooc; No, I just ramble a lot. xD 1022 words [/blockquote]

He had wiped the tears from his big blue eyes and was currently attempting to put a smile on his little round face. Amos was usually top of the class when it came to cheering others up, or at least trying but he had never had to do so for himself! The young male heaved one more sigh before shaking his head, and setting off down the path. His long unclipped claws tapped against the asphalt as he followed the trail that had been laid out, for the humans back in the day no doubt. Though part of him longed to wallow in self-pity and misery not to mention ponder upon why Chell decided to abandon his company, Amos knew that was no way to live your life. One thing he had learnt from his mother was that you only get one shot to make it count, and moping around staring at his paws was most certainly wasting his precious time. Button nose raised to the sky, the tiny cat scented around until he arrived at a small decrepit construction. It was rectangular in shape, about medium height, with old deflated black wheels. Amos of course did not understand that this had once been an old burger van, abandoned by it's dying owners. He could however smell the almost repugnant scent wafting from inside the broken vehicle, it was incredibly strong and the feline could not help but step backwards. As curious as he was, he did not doubt that his gag reflex would kick in if he decided to investigate. Amos turned from the van and trotted off, his mind already distracted from his companion. It was an unfortunate really, his lack of concentration and perhaps simple mindedness. The black and white tom could be gazing in wonder at something for one moment and the next he could attempting to tackle a conversation with a Rottweiler the next. It had been a habit of his since his kithood, and it was most definitely not a good one. Maybe that was why he struggled to make and keep good friends. "Amos!" It was as he was padding aimlessly on that he heard her yell. The cat whirled around on his unstable paws, wobbling a little as he did so but his ears were pricked with excitement and his big eyes glimmered with hope. Not to mention pure undiluted joy. That had most definitely been Chell, hadn't it?! Amos wanted to bounce up and down with delight but he knew he had to find her first. So it seemed she had got lost too, therefore she hadn't abandoned him like he had originally believed. Yes! She doesn't hate me after all! His heart pounded as he scarped as fast as he possibly could in the direction of the sound he had heard, almost desperate to spy her lithe tabby pelt. His pads thumped lightly against the human path, dodging overgrown bushes as he did so. Though he wasn't so lucky when his uncoordinated paws bumped against each other and he went flying into a path of soil. Amos grunted as he skid along the mud, face first of course before ending up in a messy dirty pile. The tomcat spat out a mouthful of dirt as he clambered upwards, shaking off as much as he could before setting off into action again. It didn't take too long to locate her, mostly because she had ended up almost where he had emerged from the enclosure. Once Amos laid eyes upon Chell there was no stopping him, with his breaths coming hard and fast now, the tiny male launched himself skyward. Soaring ridiculously through the air, propelled by utter delirious enthusiasm, Amos landed at the feline's feet. Laughing through the sharp pain on shoulder, he gazed up from the path at the orange and tabby cat. "You didn't leave me Chell?" There was a moment of silence, as the dirtied heap on the floor looked up into her eyes, before there was an explosion of Amos. He flew up onto his paws with surprising speed and danced about the tabby in a hyper manner, "I thought you'd left me, oh gee whizz! I've never met such a good friend like you Chell, oh no you're the best! Can we be best friends, I'd love to be your best friend Chell? Oh yes I would indeed. He finished in front of her, panting and grinning an inch away from her face. ooc ; Heheh, he wants to be your friend! XD words ; 762
