[scrolly:h(290),w(236),sy] The day was humid and warm, pleasant to the short-furred cat. On the horizon, dark clouds promised a shower later in the day, but for now, the marbled cat would be kept dry. Lying on a rooftop near the hospital, the large Iris warrior watched over the pride territory, his emerald eyes attentive to the slightest detail that could be out of the ordinary. He had only joined a few days ago, but the clouded leopard was happy of his choice. In the ranks of the group, he had found friends that shared much of his opinion on the Tempest, and the feeling of purpose was refreshing after many years as a loner. He wasn't blind, nor deaf though, and he sensed that the pride was not at it's strongest. Neither was the Tempest for that matter. Alcyone strongly believed that with the right cats, the pride could become stronger than it had ever been. It only needed strong leadership and loyal supporters. Although he had only been in the pride for a short amount of time, he already felt a strong loyalty towards the group, and was committed to making it better. Which was why the warrior did as much as he could to keep the pride safe. He had taken to patrolling the territory in between his training schedule.
Today, his training would start after sunhigh, and the cat had loads of time to spare. It was still early morning, and he had hours to kill before his task. The male stretched in the sunlight, his yawn displaying his abnormally long canines. Walking gracefully to the end of the roof, the warrior paused, prioritising what needed to be done and making a plan. It would take him a few hours to patrol the borders, which would leave him just enough time to arrive to the training area before he was due to be there. He could probably grab a snack on the way back, to quell the hunger that was beginning to tug at his stomach. Satisfied, the leopard looked over the edge of the roof, judging the height and landing possibilities. There was a strange metal contraption just below him, of which the roof was just the right height for him to jump down upon without injuring himself. He let himself drop down, his front paws taking the most of the force of the landing, which made the metal thing shake. He pounced from the contraption, landing silently on the asphalt. The marbled cat started walking quickly towards the border of the territory. His mind had already mapped most of the intricate maze of alleys and roads, and it was with confidence that the feline set out.
The clouded cat soon arrived at the scent marked border. A patrol hadn't been there recently, so the male pricked his ears, listening for any suspicious sound. His emerald eyes swept the alley, looking for the faintest hint of movement. He opened his mouth, letting the air bring him the scents from around him. There was no danger in the air. Cautious, the male climbed a building on his right, using his sharp hooked claws to cling to the brick work. The feline kept these meticulously sharp, as they were his primary tools of attack and defence. Slipping quietly onto the rooftop, the cat started walking along the border, watching for any signs of suspicious activity. It wasn't because there was a respite in violence that the pride had to let it's guard down. Time wore on, the sun rose higher, gaining in intensity.
Suddenly, the scent of a canine hit him. The feline stopped dead, his fur bristling along his neck and spine, fluffing his tail. His eyes narrowed, and the cat started towards the source of the scent, crouching as he walked along the rooftops, his paws silent. Closer, closer he crept, now outside of the border of the pride territory. The canine was now in the alley right below him. Checking the wind, the feline insured himself that he was downwind and that the canine couldn't smell him. He crouched, preparing to pounce. . .

The young brindle male couldn't quite decide whether what he was about to do was a good idea or not. He was partly torn between the uncontrollable, powerful desire to impress and prove himself and the terrible, nauseating fear of getting caught. His mind raced with horrific thoughts of being imprisoned, or tortured and visions of huge black panthers peeling his skin from his writhing body plagued him terribly. The juvenile Tempest member shuddered as they padded forward in silence, Bear was accompanied by two friends. A red and white husky yearling and a young black spotted pointer bitch. The husky, despite being the eldest was by far the jumpiest. He had also been dared into stalking all the way out here, alongside his best friend but it was the pointer female, Ari, that had challenged the pair to it in the first place. Her long elegant muzzle was raised defiantly, and her dark eyes glittered in anticipation. Bear glanced sideways at Ari, swallowing hard.
Bear scolded himself internally, remembering the previous days' conversation with the other two, with several other pack members gathered round. He recalled his own words of how he would send any Iris feline scampering for their life, if he ever came across one again. His husky friend, Rocco, has been in awe of this statement; gazing at his brindle mate wide excited eyes. Ari however had merely stared through narrowed eyes at Bear, a snide looking passing across her face. That was when she had dared him. He had faltered, just for a moment, he had simply gawked at her once she had challenged the both of them to walk straight into Iris turf and bite a feline's tail. The brindle Akita mix's jaw had dropped to the ground but he quickly regained composure, blurting out that the task would be as easy as pie; he could apparently do it with his eyes closed. Rocco however had simply whimpered and after a jab in the ribs from Bear, agreed with a singular nod.
That wasn't to say however that he didn't have ripples of exhilaration running down his spine, oh no. They were their alright, heck, this was pretty incredible and the young male grinned silently to himself as he thought of telling his siblings all about this dare. If he survived that was. don't be silly, of course you will, those kitties won't stand a chance he sneered, his tail lifting higher and curling over his back. Bear thought of his father, the General of Tempest and how proud he would be when he realized his son was a brave, fearless member of his pack. This was what spurned the brindle Shepherd cross on, and he puffed out his chest as his heart swelled at the thought of his parents being impressed. He wasn't going to let them down, and when Ari saw that he could do this, it would shut her up forever. His tongue began to loll out of his mouth as the canine relaxed a little, though Rocco's fear-scent was coming thick and fast.
Finally they reached the Iris border. All three juveniles came to a halt, even the pointer looked slightly dubious as they stared down the darkening alleyways. She quickly snapped out of it though, turning her bold gaze upon the two males. Bear gulped, his previous confidence draining fast, perhaps this .. wasn't such a good idea? No. He was not a coward, he was a courageous Tempest warrior and no ickle kitten was going to scare him off. Haughtily, he shoved his snout high into the air, his tail shot up vertically as he obnoxiously stalked over the territory line. Ari blinked for a moment, shocked that Bear had actually gone through with it but cackled after a second or two; "Don't stop there Teddy Bear, you've got to find an actual cat first and don't come back before you do." She glanced up at Rocco, and rolled her eyes. The handsome husky was shaking like a leaf, his blue eyes peeled wide and staring manically. Bear paused, glaring at Ari briefly before turning to coax his other friend over. Before he could say word, Rocco turned tail and fled out of sight. Gone.
For a moment there was silence. The remaining pair staring after their friend in mild amusement, when Bear realized the pointer bitch hadn't stepped over the border markers yet. To be honest the brindle male could barely believe that he was actually standing three metres into Iris territory. He wagged his thick tail profusely, staring pointedly at Ari with one raised eyebrow and a look on his face that clearly read "Hah, look at me and how brave I am." It was at that moment that everything changed, a light breeze drifted towards them carrying the repugnant scent of an Iris feline. Ari and Bear froze, twisting their heads immediately in the direction it was coming from. Bear's heart pounded in his throat, and he took one step back closer to the border. He felt hot all over, and his spine tingled with instant fear. The brindle youngster glanced over his shoulder at Ari, only to find that the female had also scarpered.. leaving him alone with the evil creature.
Part of him wanted to flee, like his friends, but at the same time something told him to hold his ground; he was a proud, strong Tempest warrior. Why should a mere cat make him run till his legs dropped off? He shook his head, his hackles raised, Bear prowled forward. He was aware that the .. Iris feline was probably watching him, as the stench was almost overpowering now and he gulped. Flattening his ears, the brindle Akita mix glanced around in hope of spying his enemy. This was stupid, bloody stupid! What if he got ripped to shreds, what would his Ma do with another of her children missing. WAIT! Maybe he could get some answers from this kitty scum, force it tell him where his sister was. He growled lowly, coming to a stop once more, worry making his paws prickle in anxiety. Hold on, he could hear something above him. The slight creaking of the roof beneath the weight of a large cat, and Bear looked up wildly, his brown eyes wide with fear.
He spotted the marbled feline, male, huge. Bear curled back his lips in terror, revealing pearly canines and backed up against the wall as he faced the Iris cat. This was his first encounter with Tempest's most hated nemesis and his fur stood on end at the thought that he might never return home. What if he couldn't fight it off, what if it killed him, he wasn't brave enough, he couldn't do this. Terrified thoughts burnt across his mind, but he was running out of time. The leopard was sure to pounce any moment now, and he was trapped against the dirty wall.. He snapped out a bark, though it sounded feeble in the eerie pregnant silence. His eyes blazed with defiant nervousness, his front paws splayed out and his neck fur bristling. What the Hell was he going to do now and where had Ari gone!? He sighed, glaring up at the cat through uncertain eyes, Bear swallowed hard; awaiting his fate.

[scrolly:h(290),w(236),sy] There were two other scents present with the one that Alcyone had picked up. One was a young bitch, the other was another young male. So young, thought the warrior, his blood burning at their stupidity. How could they had done something as foolish? Didn't they know that he now had to capture them, lock them up in a cell, to be tortured? Disgust made his lips curl at the thought of the brutal treatment given to the prisoners in the Iris hospital. No, he couldn't let their moment of youthfulness and idiocy get them locked in a cell and tortured, to have nightmares and painful memories in the years to come. Besides, the scent of one of the canines was similar to one that was present in the cells of the Iris prison. Siblings probably. They already had leverage upon the Tempest pack, it surely couldn't hurt to let these live. He would have to ensure that they did not commit the mistake of coming into the pride territory again. Then, it would probably be the last thing they ever do. His face burning with cold fury, the male crept closer. They were so close to the border now. The cat paused as the sound of rushing pawsteps passed him. One of them seemed to have had the good idea of fleeing. The sound of the escaping dog faded, and the male crept closer.
He looked over the edge of the building, into the alley below. A young brindle male was now a few meters into the Iris territory. Despite being tall, the youngster was lanky and gangly from youth. The youngster had the advantage of sprinting speed, and all dogs had a lot more stamina in a flat out run. But the cat was a lot more powerful, and the dog couldn't rival his strength. The marbled feline would clearly have the advantage, especially with his experience. The young bitch, on the other hand, had about the same advantages as the male, maybe with a little less strength. The only chance they had against him was to unify. But as soon as that thought crossed his mind, the wind changed, and his scent blew towards the two dogs. The young female ran away, the flurry of her pawsteps fading quickly. The only male left prowled forward, his hackles raising, his ears flattening. Despite this, his fear-scent was overwhelming. The breeze, which had blown back into his direction, now carried the scent of the young dog towards him. The cat's ears flickered backwards as he heard the roof creak. Oh great, he thought. The cat's face only showed ice as the cat gazed into the young dog's brown eyes. The dog backed against the wall, his lips curling back and revealing sharp canines. He barked, but the sound was feeble, and the cat gave a soft, menacing hiss that pierced the silence like a shard. He had to make this youngster feel as scared as possible to ensure that he didn't do it again.
He knew that the dog was expecting him to pounce on him. There a glint of defiance in the canine's eyes. Gathering his muscles, the cat pounced gracefully onto the asphalt, feet away from the canine. His emerald gaze drilled into the young male's, dangerous, icy and merciless. His lips peeled back in aggression, revealing his two inch fangs as a deep growl wormed it's way from his chest. His claws unsheathed as he took a slow, deliberate step forward. He made a disapproving sound. ”You're in big trouble, young idiot. I hope you have a bloody good reason for being here, mmm?” his deep baritone voice was low and menacing when he spoke, and his words slow, designed to slither fear into the heart of the young canine. Sometimes, a cold, low menace made a deeper impression in the mind than a downright yell. He let his words become a distraction, making the dog concentrate on them. Then, he might be thinking more about how to answer than how to block his attack. In a flash, without so much as a warning, the leopard pounced onto the young dog with lightning speed, hoping to bowl him over and pin him to the ground. That would give the young dog a definite scare, to have his fate in the leopard's claws, hopefully enough to keep him from coming back. . . |

"Talk"
The tense crackled with hostility, the silence impregnated with spine-tingling anticipation. Bear's wide brown eyes studied the large muscular feline's muscles in rapidly increasing horror. His tail involuntarily whipped between his hind legs, though he internally snapped at himself for showing such an obvious weakness. His brindle hackles bristled like a porcupines spines, and normally straight, pricked ears were plastered against his young head. The devilish creature hissed like a cruel, venomous reptile and it make the fur on Bear's back quiver and tingle in fright. It sounded like something that had risen from the depths of Hell itself! The akita cross attempted to push himself further against the wall, his backside already crammed up against the dank brickwork; there was no more space to retreat to. Bear gulped hard, glancing anywhere but this piercing green eyes and though he longed to pant with fear, the youngster kept his maw firmly shut. All he could think about was the marbled leopard lunging for his vulnerable lolling tongue and ripping it from his soft, malleable mouth! Jesus bloody christ Bear, you've really gone and done it this time?
The young canine braced himself hard as he saw the sudden momentary lowering of the leopard's body, the tensing and coiling of his muscles; knowing he was about to spring. Bear was determined not to flinch, or leap away no he had to stay and fight for his sister, for his family and for his pack. Yet the urge and instinct to bolt back home, flee with his tail between his slender legs was almost overpowering. Fear rolled from his youthful body in giant crashing waves, despite his meek attempts to control his foreboding anxiety. Ripples of electric trepidation pulsated through his veins like a live wire, his claws scraping nervously against the harsh bitumen surface. He was ready for combat, he had to believe that, he just had to. Regardless of this silent, internal preparation when the larger enemy pounced effortless to the ground before him, Bear still recoiled violently; turning and pressing his body horizontally against the wall, almost shaking as it took a step towards him. The juvenile turned his head to face the cat, his breath coming quick and fast now, eyeing the huge fangs within the powerful jaws.
Bear was plagued by images of his return, Ari claiming that she had been watching him all along, observing the cowardice in his body as he clung to the dirty wall like a yellow-bellied rat. It was this chronic phobia of humiliation that drove the brindle male to turn towards his fear, his natural-born enemy and, look him for the first time, properly in the eye. His mocha eyes were still wide and anxious but they held a glimmer audacity now. Hatred churned in his unsettled stomach. All he could think about was his beautiful golden sister being locked away, probably terrified out of her wits and absolutely starving. Though it was highly unlikely that this big cat, that loomed threateningly towards him, was responsible for the capture and possible torture of his eldest sister, he was part of their pride. Bear did not think for one second that this demon wouldn't bat an eyelid at ripping the eyes from Estelle's sockets if he was ordered to do so. In fact, knowing felines, he'd probably enjoy it.
He felt scared, of course, that was natural, but now spurned on by his boiling blood. The brindle dog's stance seemed to change and he moved back to face the leopard straight on again, though their heads were very close together now. Almost touching. His enemies' deep reverberating voice ricocheted from wall to wall in the dark, narrow alleyway. He puffed out his chest in resentment, trying to make himself look braver and peeled back his lips in distaste at the cat's cold, menacing words. The tone of his voice was like harsh and glacial, he meant business yet Bear could not back down now! No, he had gotten way too far to bow down and kiss this kitties toenails .. plus, that haunting thought that Ari was still spying on him lingered on. The brindle akita and shepherd mix growled, narrowing his eyes in defiance though he couldn't help cringing away from that venomously soft voice. The attack came all too suddenly for the young, inexperienced juvenile. Before he even knew what was happening, the canine saw a blur of marbled dark fur before feeling the full impact of the leopard's paws upon his chest, very suddenly. He was completely thrown, flying backwards with with an ''oof, aghh!'' Bear howled in shock and terror, so this was it, this was what it all came down to?
How could he have been so stupid, how had he allowed this great lump bowl him over so easily? Bear lay on his back, head swimming as he had knocked it hard on the asphalt after falling, and tried to focus his swaying vision. He could, however, clearly feel the heavy pads and sharp claws lightly piercing his soft chest fur. Bear heaved upwards, wriggled from side to side but no matter how hard he struggled there was no escape. His eyesight intact, the yearling glared up at the Iris scum with hostility blazing scathingly in his mocha eyes, the loathing was so brutally clear. How he hated this stupid fish-face, who did he think he was, pushing him around? Canines were the superior species, so this cat had no right to lay a claw on him. Bear snarled despite his quickening, rapid heartbeat and snapped his small yet strong jaws upwards towards the feline's skull; hoping to snag some skin at least. His voice was shaky, unnerved by such an unsuspected attack but his defiance and cockiness held strong. "GET OFF OF ME! And I am no idiot, kitty scum, I am a Tempest Warrior and you are nothing but a worthless waste of oxygen, just like the rest of your wretched abominate species!"

[scrolly:h(290),w(236),sy] Despite the cold and controlled exterior, the insides of the clouded cat writhed with anger. The incredible stupidity this young canine was showing just made his blood boil. How could he just risk his life like that? Obviously it was some stupid dare that had driven the youngster to step into the Iris pride territory. Did he really care enough about his reputation that he would risk his life for it? Stupid, youthful mistake. Thank goodness it was him who had found the dog and not another Iris member. Any other would have probably killed him or captured him, no questions asked. But this young male had so many years in front of him. . . it would be a crime to end his life so soon and extinguish so much potential for doing the right thing. But there was a tiny voice inside his mind who couldn't help thinking that his young dog might be already indoctrinated with the hatred of all felines and killing him would take another Tempest warrior out of the equation. No, he couldn't think like that. . . He would end up just like Brooke or Florence, who both did unspeakably evil things to win the war. The clouded feline's emerald eyes studied, calculating, the brindle canine at the bottom of the wall. Obviously he couldn't condemn this youngster to brutal torture at the hands of some of the Iris members. He was committed to destroying the Tempest, but not it's young, who still had the choice to be something their parents were not. He was aware that he was infringing the rules, but his conscience wouldn't let him harm the youngster too much.
The brindle dog was backing up to the wall, his butt already squashed against it. Alcyone didn't need his fleeting eyes or his tail momentarily whipping between his legs to see that the canine was terrified. Good. He would be less likely to do it again. He had to show this dog just how vulnerable he was, how any member of the Iris could have killed him already, or worse maybe, captured him to be starved and probably tortured. Obviously, the fact that he was a clouded leopard helped a lot. His size was something he could use to his advantage, even though he had met many house cats inside the pride who were surprisingly deadly for their stature. There was something almost desperate in his need to make this young dog understand how the Iris pride was not something to be meddled with, unless he wanted to die. Not all Iris members had his view on canines. He wouldn't have any hesitation to kill a Tempest warrior. But a youngster? No way. The dull scraping of the dog's claws on the hard asphalt resonated in the silence. Suspense, still more suspense. The moment seemed almost hung in time. Like the clock had suddenly stopped ticking, and the anticipation made the atmosphere heavy. Any onlooker would be probably holding their breath, waiting for the unavoidable move from one or both of the opponents. Two natural enemies, locked in a hostile confrontation.
His smooth pounce onto the hard bitumen didn't alleviate any of the tension. It wasn't meant to. The young dog, whose fear-scent was almost overpowering, recoiled against the wall like he had been stung. The canine's quick, sharp breaths pulsated in the leopard's sensitive ears, masking almost all other sounds. It felt as if the whole world had suddenly shrunk, leaving only their bit of alley, small and intimate. Everything else had little importance. Then, a change seemed to take place within the young dog. Something even more powerful that his fear made him turn towards the cat, stop the cowering attitude he had had. His body rose from it's plastered position on the wall, the young dog's eyes meeting Alcyone's own for the first time. Emerald locked with chocolate brown. Icy and calculating were the green, fearful but audacious were the brown. Finally some spine, thought the feline. The more scared he was, the better, but some courage was always welcome. There was hate in this young dog's eyes, fiery, scalding hate. The very same the cat reserved for most canines. He had been right to think that the mentality of the Tempest pack had gotten to him already. He hated cats with all his heart, just like Alcyone had hated dogs at that age for having killed his family. The familiar burning shame and anger gripped his heart, but he chased it immediately. He couldn't think of that now.
The dog came closer. They were nose to nose now. Two deadly enemies inches away from each other. His words triggered a reaction of hostility in the young canine. His chest puffed out, his lips pulling upwards in a snarl. He seemed to be battling his fear. A growl wormed his way from his chest and his mocha eyes narrowed. He didn't seem to want to back down. Good. It would make this all the more fun. His hatred of canines had flared again, burning in his chest. Without the goddamn Tempest, his family would still be alive. His life wouldn't have had all that fear and anger in it. He might have been someone better. But no, life hadn't gone like that. They had ruined it all. Canines. It was most satisfying to feel the impact of his paws upon the young dog. He knew that he shouldn't take out his anger on this youngster. But he couldn't help it. The young dog's body flew backwards onto his back and the cat wasted no time sinking his claws in the canine's chest, his hind legs on either side of the youngster's body to stop him from wriggling free. The full weight of the feline rested onto the dog's chest, rendering all escape very difficult.
The look that the young dog gave him after recovering his senses was one of pure hatred. Loathing at the purest form. He had seen that look on many Tempest warriors. Ignoring the young dog's glare, the cat gave a cold, calm smile. The only response from the dog was a snarl, uncovering his sharp teeth. He would have to be wary of those. Just as the though came to his mind, he felt the yearling's muscles heave. He raised his head and the jaws came snapping powerfully near his nose. The feline sank his claws a little further in the canine's soft chest. His lips peeled back in a snarl, uncovering his abnormally long teeth. He could hear the young dog's heart beating quickly in his chest. How satisfying. GET OFF OF ME! And I am no idiot, kitty scum, I am a Tempest Warrior and you are nothing but a worthless waste of oxygen, just like the rest of your wretched abominate species! The feline rolled his eyes, a snort escaping his nose. ”Whatever,” said Alcyone with a mocking smirk, ”You have been caught on Iris territory. You know what that means now don't you?” |
his voice had sunk to a deadly murmur. ”Pain, lots of pain. . . and maybe after a while, I'll kill you.” his voice was a whisper now, cold and soft. As Bear lay there, pinned to the ground by the heavy feline, he considered the idea of giving up. Of letting the cat win, allowing him to tear him to pieces right then and there. Maybe it was the easiest option, because Hell, the effort alone of struggling against the crushing weight was exhausting enough without trying to throw the scum off. His attempt to bite the enemy had failed and frankly there wasn't much more the young dog could do, his claws certainly weren't as sharp as the leopards'. That much the brindled Akita did know, as he could actually feel his claws piercing his flesh! He snarled again but this time it was weaker, quieter and you could really hear the uncertainty now. He'd only been pushed over a few minutes ago but already Bear was wearying, he didn't have the faintest idea how to fight back. He did not have anything clever or witty up his sleeve, nor did he know how to direct his hits at the clouded cat.
The brindled akita mix closed his eyes, trying to block out the sharp pain upon his chest and the fact he was struggling to breathe. Oh how disappointed his parents were going to be when they found out he hadn't been able to defend himself! The sense of failure and shame choked him slowly, silently. Though by the way things were going the likelihood of Bear seeing his Mother and Father was growing increasingly slim. Shivers of fear rippled down his spine internally, what if this was cat was actually going to rip his throat to shreds. The young canines' big dark pupils expand tenfold and instinctively he sprung into action once more, his internal voice screaming at him not to give in yet. He was way to young to die! His muscles burned with the effort of heaving upwards, his jaws snapping frantically upwards at his face and sideways at his paws and legs. With a growl, Bear lifted his hind legs up and underneath the feline's underbelly and scrabbled hard. Though his claws weren't half as sharp as his enemies, they were strong.
Bear was simply disgusted by the cold, ruthless sneering smile that the cat served up on a silver platter. The voice that had told him to chase away his cowardliness spoke up once more, and the dark brindle dog snarled lowly. For all he knew, the leopard had been the one to actually capture Estelle and Ryku in the first place! Suddenly Bear spat, his sticky, smelly saliva soaring upwards and with any luck would land solidly upon his enemy. A small childish carefree laughed sounded from Bear, he couldn't help it. That had been quite funny. It was only when he felt the claws sinking even further into his skin, that the juvenile was brought back to the seriousness of the situation. He shifted in pain and whined involuntarily. How embarrassing, now he knows he's got to me! Bear grumbled, but he was panting by this time. Well and truly exhausted by the violent excursions, the dog didn't know how long he could keep this up!
The leopard dismissed his angry words and this caused a strong anger to burn once more in his chest. How dare he treat him as though he were nothing but a worthless worm! The cat's next words however sent a wave of chills throughout his small, growing body. He's was going to torture him, oh my god. So this was what it all came down to. His family were going to lose not only his sister but Bear too! Yet something didn't seem right.. Bear hissed "If you were really going finish me off, you would have done it already. You wouldn't have even thought about giving me the chance to live, to fight you. Instead of pouncing onto my back and snapping my neck, you pinned me down and started chatting with me." Now it was the pup's turn to smirk, "You're not as scary as you think, now leave me alone. Why are you so pissed anyway, it's not like I killed one of your precious Iris buddies. I .. got lost.." The biggest lie ever told by an animal. The felines' eyes alone were enough to give Bear the heebie-jeebies, let alone his soft menacing voice but if the youngster was going to survive then it meant calling the kitties' bluff.

[scrolly:h(290),w(236),sy] The seconds were ticking by, almost in slow motion. The clouded cat could sense the fear, hear the canine's heart racing in his chest, feel the quick breathing of the young dog under his paws. The writhing body under him slowly started to weaken, almost as if he was giving up. Laying still, at his mercy. Such youth. Such foolishness. Thank goodness it was him who found the youngster. His heart burned with a hatred of canines, but in the mocha eyes of this yearling, he couldn't help but see himself at the same age; scared, angry and helpless. For a second, a wave of sadness overcame him. His anger was spent out, the newer emotion taking over. The large cat almost sighed, but caught himself in time. Only a tiny amount of what he was really feeling managed to filter out into his eyes.
The large cat shook away his emotions, a new determination flooding him. His eyes went cold and hard again. He needed to make this young dog understand, he needed to make a lasting impression. The leopard looked at the canine, who's eyes were closed, and a sense of abandon came to the body pinned under him. Was he seeing his friends, his family, everything that made life worth living for? The clouded feline almost shivered, a lost memory resurfacing. He had been in the same situation before, pinned under a large dog, certain of death. He remembered the crushing feeling of sadness, of anger. The moment where he had almost given up. Then the burning will that had coursed through his body. The will to survive. It had been only luck that had saved him.
The body under him trembled as the muscles heaved into action once again. The fierce fire of survival burnt bright in this youngster. The cat struggled to keep the young dog under him, the snarl he wanted to put on his lips failing to come forth. Because he understood. Because he knew how it was to feel like it was your last day. The dog was strong, and his jaws fierce, and the youngster managed to scratch the skin of his left paw with his teeth. The leopard shook himself mentally. He had to be cold. A snarl came to his lips, revealing his pearly white teeth, hissing as the strong hind legs scrabbled at his stomach. The adrenaline gave the young dog great strength, and for a moment, the cat felt his breath knocked out of him. Gritting his teeth the cat managed to stay on top of the dog, but only just. He had to release the dog when he decided, not when the canine had had enough.
The burning mocha eyes locked with his own cold emerald ones, and he could see all the anger and the hate directed towards him. Such a pity there was a war. But the Tempest had to be stopped, and Alcyone would make sure that that was going to happen.
What the canine did next, Alcyone wasn't expecting. The spittle rose quickly, and the marbled cat barely had the time to move his face to the side. He wasn't quick enough. The spit caught the side of his ear, just barely, but enough to disgust him. The leopard flicked his ear dismissively, hoping to keep the sneer that had angered the dog so much, his eyes still cold and ruthless. With any luck the spittle would land back on the dog's face. He dug his claws more deeply into the dog's chest at his childish laugh. He had to admit this youngster wasn't a complete coward. Few would have dared to do such a thing in a situation where they were at a clear disadvantage.
If you were really going finish me off, you would have done it already. You wouldn't have even thought about giving me the chance to live, to fight you. Instead of pouncing onto my back and snapping my neck, you pinned me down and started chatting with me. You're not as scary as you think, now leave me alone. Why are you so pissed anyway, it's not like I killed one of your precious Iris buddies. I .. got lost.. The clouded cat burst out laughing, his eyes suddenly losing the cold pretence. He stepped to the side, liberating the dog from his hold. He looked back towards him, locking his emerald eyes with the youngster's brown ones. ”That's one bold lie, kid,” said the cat with a sneer, ”But. You're right. I never had the intention to kill you. If I did you'd be dead.” |
The feline placed himself between the dog and escape. No, he had to talk to the dog first. He started taking slow steps forward, willing the canine to give him his full attention. ”No. What you did was foolish and utterly stupid. Do you think this is a joke? Do you really think we would have hesitated to kill you? You would be DEAD by now if I hadn't been the one to find you. Your idiotic dare could have been your sorry end. A DARE. Do you care about what people think of you so much that you will risk your life for it? Is that it?” the clouded feline snarled, his emerald eyes drilling into the youngster. The cat stopped. When he continued, his tone was icy calm, cold. ”Now. You will leave. And don't you dare EVER come back. If you do. . . believe me when I say that I will have no hesitation to kill you.” The cat meant every word of it. And with that, the feline stepped to the side, opening the way for the dog to go back home. ---------------------------- words; 959 muse; 8/10 tags; Kezzeh with Teddy-Bear! <3 notes; Omg, sorry it took so long!
