PERSONALITY |
Jaeger is, seemingly, a mess of contradictions. She hates war and loves to fight, can't stand other animals and still goes insane if she isn't part of a pack, argues over everything but makes compromises with admirable ease. Somehow she manages to be absolutely fearless and calm in every situation, and is still horribly paranoid and constantly worries about every bad thing that could happen.
In her sleep, she runs battle simulations, and loses half the time. When she's awake she runs around like a crazy person trying to get everything she thinks needs to be done finished. Not that Jaeger really spends a great deal of time asleep. Sleeping is a waste of time.
She likes other animals. Probably she likes them way too much, since Jaeger tends to be horribly attached to everyone she meets fairly soon after meeting them. This tends to be more of a problem than a good thing, since most other creatures tend to be a little alarmed by her overprotective instincts.
These extend themselves to everyone she meets that isn't overtly hostile, of course. Sometimes, even those that are. The elderly and children immediately become part of her group of protectees upon meeting her.
What Jaeger really wants out of life is to stop the war, or at least to bring it out of it's current stalemate. She doesn't care who wins particularly. She'd just like it to be over at some point.• likes | fighting, puppies, rainy days
• dislikes | lexis and iris, the war, unjustice
• goals | to stop the war and abolish the packs in general
• fears | fire, death, being captured
• strengths | is a fast runner, a more than decent soldier, and basically a good person
• weaknesses | tends to somewhat paranoid, doesn't care about other people who don't agree with her ideas
• mental disorders | none
APPEARANCE |
Jaeger is fairly average for her species. She is somewhat more scarred than normal, due to spending most of her life getting in and out of fights and accidents. Most of these are invisible under her fur.
She is of average build and size, with somewhat longer legs than some and a great deal of muscle. Her teeth are somewhat longer than usual, but otherwise she is more or less unmemorable.
Her fur is medium-length, mostly tan with black on her back and legs and red on her ears.
Her body language is really what makes her stand out. It's as contradictory as her personality; sometimes she seems to be on solid footing, as aware of her place in the world as any alpha. Other times she is remarkably shy and submissive in stance, and stutters horribly, and can't figure out what she's supposed to be doing. And, well, nobody else can really figure it out either, which tends to estrange her from most other animals.
She speaks with a very thick Russian accent.• height | 140 cm
• weight | 95 lbs
• fur colour | black, light brown, red
• eye colour | gold/yellow
• scars | various
• noticeable features | besides being a wolf, Jaeger is mostly identifiable by her body language rather than any special colors or scars.
• physical disorders | none
HISTORY |
She was born into a huge army in Russia, the daughter of one of the lieutenants and a camp follower. She had several half-siblings, but the only wolf she considered part of her family was her brother Markus. Her mother died when she was just weaned; she caught a plague that was going through the rest of the camp. Jaeger's father took her to another wolf, a white female who was mated to an uncle of hers, and she grew up under this wolf's care.
Markus and Jaeger saw little of their father, who worked very closely with the rulers of the pack. They traveled a great deal, and rarely saw the same place twice during the first eight months of their life. They found themselves in training to fight at a young age, under the tutelage of an older warrior named Carius. She was a natural for the soldiers life; Markus, not so much. He was more like a natural assassin and spent a great deal of time getting in trouble for stealing things and playing (unpleasant) tricks on other young wolves.
Fala, her surrogate mother, died when she was a little over a year old in mysterious circumstances. Her father told her that Fala fell from a tower, although Carius said she was pushed, and a cousin of hers said that she jumped. Jaeger barely knew the female wolf, having taken up with Carius. Markus, however, was devastated and set himself to discovering what had actually happened. Jaeger began to see her brother less and less often.
In the meantime, she saw more and more of Carius. Carius was not unhandsome - a big gray wolf, and not nearly as old as he seemed to be when she was a pup. The two were not so much in love as just assuming, life being what it was, that either one of them would die before their time. The fully expected happened.
Then the army was on the move again. Jaeger was two. They went from their castle and headed south, on the move to Germany to fight some mysterious pack of wolfdogs. There was a storm one night. Lightning struck a tree and burned acres and acres of poopies. Then the muttering started.
The army was saying that there was no reason to move from the castle, that the general was senile, that his lieutenants were dead, insane, murderers, adulterers, and/or traitors. Her brother reappeared and tried to kill the general. Her uncles slaughtered him and, afterwards, Carius, who was (apparently) training him as an assassin and (therefore) a traitor himself. They searched for Jaeger, who quickly made herself scarce amongst the camp followers and started making plans to escape.
As it turned out, the alpha really was senile. There was a fight, she heard, between her uncles. Peregrin had won and fled the country, headed south. The camp followers figured out who she was and began to give her looks as if, were they to turn her in, perhaps they could get the empty beta spots. Jaeger saw which way the wind was blowing. She took off southwards, staying on the move constantly and hoping that nobody would follow her.
Somebody did. A cousin of hers, a son of Volkav whose name was Terrence, tracked her down. It turned out that he wasn't trying to kill her, as she thought, but was just bringing news.
Her father Roland, as Jaeger knew, was dead. So was Bain and Volkav, her other uncles. The alpha of the pack had been killed during the night, presumably by Peregrin, who was now gone. Terrence was on his way east, he said, but he was injured and was really only trying to draw the headhunters off of the rest of her assorted kin so they could escape. Turned out the new alpha was another student of Carius and blamed everyone in her family for his death.
Jaeger took her leave of Terrence and headed southwards, on what she hoped was her uncle Peregrin's track. She had it in her mind to kill him, which he deserved, and therefore avenge everyone - Fala, Markus, Roland.
A year passed. She wandered, keeping on the move as much as possible, and arrived in a city called Hexasol at the beginning of her fourth year. In Hexasol another war was going on, which she was almost immediately caught up in. Jaeger decided to hide out in the Lexis Tribe while she continued looking for her uncle, and then ended up a permanent member, and now she's..
Still there, fighting a war she isn't part of, again.
