Xarkla Xarkla once more was here to hunt. The feline knew she was breaking the laws but she was having hard time finding food. Iris Pride was loaded with mice and rats as they ruled the city. If she caught a rat or two she'd would of left. There were other hunters so she didn't need to catch a lot. Sighing, she remembered Buddy's words. The cat knew she shouldn't be in Iris territory but this time she was on the rooftops. Now, she could see what was happening. Knowing she could get caught she crouched along the tiles. The wind blew through her fur. Xarkla prayed a Iris feline wouldn't catch her scent on the air currents. Of course she could jump from roof to roof, but she wasn't the fastest creature out there. Would Buddy capture her if he caught sight of her? Why he didn't tell his pride about her trespassing, confused her. Was their something about her that he allowed her to run away? She had to admit the wild cat was handsome. Though the female was loyal to Lexis Tribe and wouldn't mate with a Iris member. Her kits would be hunted and killed. Sighing the Leopard Cat sat at the edge of the roof, sun bathing. The sun's rays bounced off her golden coat, causing a reflection. Flicking her tail she smiled as she had been her for a while and hadn't been caught. How long would her luck last?

Buddy strode down the streets of the Iris Pride’s section of Hexasol. His mind wasn’t really on his duties, even though his keen eyes scanned the areas in front of him, and his nose readily anticipated any scents that were out of place. For the last few days, he had been distracted, barely comprehending what his fellows had being saying, yet managing to respond in the right way to each and every one of them. The hulking tomcat was a born actor, and therefore no other feline of the Iris Pride had noticed, so far at least, any change in his demeanor whatsoever. He normally kept his emotions hidden beneath a mask of politeness and arrogance, though the two did not normally go paw in paw.
Looking around him warily, the guard bunched his muscled and leapt neatly onto a brick fence, and from there onto the still-intact roof of a tall city manor. The view was superb; he could see for miles in all directions, which suited his purposes perfectly. Sitting in a sort of half-doze, Buddy allowed his mind to drift. Three days ago, he had met a Leopard she-cat from the Lexis Tribe, Xarkla by name, who had strayed into Iris Pride territory to hunt. He had been bewitched by her beauty and courage; while clearly scared of the huge tomcat, she had retorted sharply to his warnings to stay away from the Iris Pride, showing wit and indifferent to his words.
Buddy had never fallen in love before; he had flirted with many she-cats within his pride, but never really had felt anything for them. Xarkla was different; she made him want to behave himself, to show her how gentlemanly he could be. She was everything, he realized, that he could want in a female; everything except the fact that she belonged to a sworn enemy of the Iris Pride. Alerting himself as a tantalizingly familiar scent drifted slowly to his sensitive nostrils, the Scottish Wildcat got silently to his paws as he stared keenly around. The scent was the Leopard Cat’s; he was sure of it. It was the scent of the Lexis Tribe, feline, and female all rolled into one.
A flash of movement caught the hulking’ tom’s gaze, and what he knew already was confirmed; Xarkla had, despite his dire warnings, had returned to Iris Pride territory, most likely to hunt for her Tribe. Admiring her determination and yet cursing her foolishness, Buddy shadowed her silently, leaping from roof to roof behind her, barely making a sound as he did so. The tomcat wanted to send her back to her territory before one of his Pride mates saw and intercepted her; he wanted to keep her from all possible harm, which was virtually impossible. For her, the dangers of this place were terribly high, and for him, if he noticeably tried to help her, were equally alarming. s she lay down, enjoying the feel of the sun on her golden pelt, Buddy padded over to her. He prodded her with a paw, meowing in a quiet yet urgent voice, “Xarkla, what on earth are you doing here?”

It had been an uneventful day. Florence had gathered the strength to male her way up to the roofs, yet she immediately regretted it from the bitter wind slapping ruthlessly at her face. She turned her head away and stared down at the ground for a long period of time, knowing she should make her way back to the hospital and let the guards be forced to walk out on the roofs. Yet she missed roaming the hundreds of rooftops that she was once easily be able to jump between. Things got complicated because of pregnancy, and it made it harder to jump and leap, yet she could still do it. Florence just hoped she wouldn't misjudge her leap and fall to her death between one of the gaps. Oh how that would be ironic. Her paws curled over the edge of the roof, and she raised her head again to look over at the view. In the distance was the lapping ocean, whilst in the other direction were the rolling Stranglers Mountains, covered in ice and snow already.
A new scent suddenly filled her nostrils, and Florence whipped her head around immediately, ignoring the burning cold that coated her face. Narrowing her eyes, she saw figures in the distance. Two of them, stood close together, perhaps talking. It was clear one of them did not belong here, and that made her growl. Immediately, Florence was moving. She smelt of Lexis, and if she smelt of Lexis she most certainly didn't belong here. Why wasn't the other cat killing her? Florence leapt from one roof to another almost soundlessly, her belly dragging her down, but she wasn't bothered as long as she reached the two conversing cats. Soon enough, she was close enough to have the scent overwhelm her. One was Buddy, one of the cats that was in her Pride, however the other was an unknown female. She couldn't hear what they were saying with each other, but Florence wasn't happy that Buddy wasn't killing her immediately.
Florence jumped one last time, her paws landing hard on the brick, before she approached the two cats. Her eyes were like stone as a growl erupted in her throat. "What are you doing here, cat? Buddy, kill her." She snarled to the other feline, eyes piercing through him and wondering whether he'd actually do it. This would prove whether they were just strangers, or something more. Florence's fur prickled along her spine as she waited for a reply, a reaction, anything.

Xarkla Xarkla was shocked as a paw prodded her side. Turning, she jumped and puffed out her fur. Hissing, she moved away. Once, her brain realized it was Buddy, she calmed down. "Don't sneak up on me!" she whispers, harshly. Huffing, she relaxed and sat down on her hunches. The wind had been blowing in her face. It caused her not to hear the cat or smell his scent. The she-cat was about to answer the tom when she felt her fur prickle. Turning her skull to the left, she widened her eyes as the lioness, Florence stood besides them. Xarkla realized how stupid the situation had turned out. They were on the edge of a roof top with the ground below them. How worse could it become? Though as her brown eyes scanned the feline she realized that the lioness was pregnant. Deciding to use that to her advantage, the feline leapt to the next rooftop. A sigh escaped her lips as she felt the tiles beneath her paws. Looking back, she flattened her ears as the female demanded for Buddy to end the cycle of blood flowing through her veins. The Leopard Cat knew she should of listened to Buddy's warnings. Now, this a regret, mistake she had done. In hopes to get the lioness off of Buddy's back, Xarkla flattened her ears. Turning, she bounded across the rooftops, leaping to each new roof that was closest to her. This was her plan until' she found a roof, the lioness couldn't leap to or a escape route to the empty streets below her.

Buddy was about to reply to Xarkla when he heard a noise behind him; he turned abruptly, and his heart sank when he saw Florence. He was not accustomed to panicking in a situation like this, and he did not. "What are you doing here, cat? Buddy, kill her." The lioness’s voice was a dangerous growl, and pregnant though she was, he dared not disobey her, at least not openly. He met the Iris leader’s gaze evenly, even as, inside himself, he discovered that he did not want to kill Xarkla; whether he would and could was a different matter altogether.
“I will do all in my power to do as you bid me,” he meowed, inclining his head slightly. This was about as high a gesture of respect that anyone could command from the hulking tomcat; he did not like being told what to do, but he tolerated Florence because he knew that she was much more powerful than he, and that she would lose little by banishing him. Killing a member of her Pride was another matter altogether, because there were too many political issues involved. Yet, he admired the lioness in some ways, even if he did not particularly like her.
Buddy wheeled around and bounded across the rooftops as Xarkla fled. He was glad that she had not stayed; if she had been caught immediately, even he would not know what to do, except pretend to kill the she-cat. He hoped that either she was a very fast runner, or a very good actor, for he did not want to have to kill her. If she escaped, he would, most likely, be punished for not catching her, but that was a very small price compared to having to kill the one creature whom he possibly loved. He would never forgive himself if the Lexis cat died at his paws. He didn’t care who else he had to kill- just as long as it wasn’t her.
The chill breeze stung his eyes, but hardly affected the rest of him, as the Scottish Wildcat had thick tabby fur that protected him from most things, including bad weather. His jumps were big and even, and soon he was catching up to Xarkla. “Stop right there, or your death will be longer and more painful than it has to be!” He yowled as he bore down on her. His voice was loud enough to be heard, clearly, by Florence and other members of the Iris Pride, and convincing enough to reassure the lioness that he was wholly on her side, at least where the Leopard Cat was concerned.

Florence watched proudly as Buddy ran after the cat. There was something odd about this situation, but she couldn't place her paw on what it was. Instead, her eyes swung around as the Lexis cat jumped across a roof, and immediately Florence began to follow with Buddy, leaping across the large gap and landing on the other side. Her breath caught in her throat, but Florence didn't stop. If Buddy couldn't catch her, then Florence had to. She looked forward to tasting her blood as she ran across the large expanse of roof, until they reached another gap. Florence didn't even think twice before she jumped across, barely listened to Buddy's thread that was drifted away by the bitter wind. Other cats were beginning to turn their heads at the sudden commotion, but they were too far away to catch up with the cat now. It was Florence and Buddy against this intruder. She wondered what this cat was even doing, trespassing in her lands. What would she accomplish from doing that?
Florence didn't have much time to actually think upon it, as they were too busy running. The pregnancy, however, was slowing her down too much. The cubs weighed her down and wriggled in protest, and Florence let out a shuddering breath as she ran out of energy. She hadn't eaten in a few days, and knew she needed to soon. Florence knew there wasn't a chance in hell that she would be able to catch up with the cat when she was running low in energy, so she stopped and shouted after Buddy instead. "Catch that filthy rodent!" She exclaimed, breathing heavy and laboured, "Buddy, if you let her slip through your claws, you'll be sorry!" Narrowing her eyes, Florence slowed down her pace into a walk. She was going to follow the scent of the Lexis Tribe cat.
Raising her skull to the air, Florence let out a mighty roar, warning all cats to be on the lookout for this feline. They should all try and kill her when they had the chance. She knew too much about the network of their pridelands and Florence didn't want her to run back to Streiter and tell him all that she found. She had to be killed before she could escape. Florence was just going to count on Buddy and the rest of the cats to catch her. Cursing her own, stupid body, Florence wished that pregnancy wasn't such a barrier. She could've gotten that cat, had she not been carrying all these cubs in her belly!

"Speech!"
When Xarkla heard Buddy's threat she whimpered. Wasn't he on her side? Did he really mean he would kill her the next time he spotted her trespassing? Gulping with worry the feline continued to sprint along the roof tops. Even with her slim figure the muscles the wild cat had, allowed him to catch up easily. Turning her head she flicked her tail, with anxiety as Florence started to dash along with Buddy to catch her. Clearly she wanted to rake her paws through her pelt but was Buddy thinking about the same thing of torture?
This is where the she-cat's luck came in. Florence only made past few roofs before she slowed down. As she screamed out the lyrics of a command, Xarkla noticed her breathing heavy and labored. Being thankful the pregnancy slowed the lioness down, she continued to dash across the titles. That was until' her luck once more diminished. Up ahead, was a gap Xarkla knew she couldn't jump. Slowing down, she pushed out her claws, sliding against the worn out titles to keep from falling off the roof. Sighing, as she now stood on the edge, she turned her head at Buddy.
The Leopard Cat felt threaten as Buddy still ran at top speed towards her. Would he push her or both of them off? If he didn't slow down, it might cause the death of them. Crouching down, Xarkla flicked her tail as a warning. She'd fight if he attacked her. The feline was slightly confused as to why he starting to yell the threats at her. She didn't know he didn't mean any harm.
Puffing up her fur in a attempt to look bigger, she flattened her ears tight against her skull. Keeping her claws fully out she pulls back her lips to reveal sharp canines. As much as she hated to hurt him it would be a fight for her life. Something she wouldn't give up without putting up a good battle. As the last attempt to warn him off Xarkla hissed loudly, narrowing her pupils into a glare.

Buddy knew, from the sounds behind him, that Florence must be following. Heart his his mouth, he hoped that his leader wouldn’t be able to reach Xarkla before he did. The Scottish Wildcat kept running and jumping, running and jumping, his eyes fixed on the Leopard she-cat’s lanky frame. He wondered how she’d taken his threats; well, if she took them seriously, she was more likely to go faster and escape. He saw other cats noticing he chase; the intruder, out in front, running for her life, the hunter, only a few rooftops away from his quarry now; and Florence, who by now had slowed to a walk. She thundered after her flollower, "Catch that filthy rodent! Buddy, if you let her slip through your claws, you'll be sorry!"
The hulking tomcat was gaining on the Lexis Tribe she-cat with every passing second; he was much more used to roof-jumping than she was, and he knew the lay of the land better than she did. Cursing his partially good fortune, he kept on going, finally catching up with Xarkla. He panted loudly as he jumped onto the rooftop that held the Leopard Cat, and at first he wondered why she wasn’t still running. But then he remembered that here, there was a huge gap, and only a confident jumper would even dare to try getting across, because they risked death by falling, and the she-cat obviously wasn’t willing to risk her neck.
Taking a deep breath, Buddy bounded over to her, behind her, so that he was right on the edge. From there, he jumped onto the main part of the roof, right at Xarkla, hoping to pin her down as he had several days ago. If she got away, the huge Scottish Wildcat would be in big trouble from his leader, and if he successfully caught her, she wasn’t exactly in for a first-rate dining experience or anything; in fact, it would probably be better to kill her now, quickly, than to have her captured and something worse done to her. But it was up to Xarkla now, either to get away, or to get caught. The choice was hers.

"Speech!"
Xarkla yowled as the Wild cat pinned her down. Hissing she pushed her hind claws into his stomach. Xarkla wasn't going to attack the tom, not yet. She didn't want to harm Buddy but if he started snapping at her neck she would only cause injuries that would easily heal. Using her front paws she pushed at his throat in hopes of keeping his fangs away from her. The Leopard Cat was nervous as her slim tail hung over the edge of the roof. She prayed all the struggling wouldn't cause both of them to fall.
Xarkla searched Buddy's eyes, hoping they would show he wasn't going to kill her. Or, that he would regret doing such a crime. The feline decided to take her tail and wrap it around his hind leg. Maybe he would take the bait and look back. Xarkla would then proceed to push off the tom and run once more. The feline continued to fail, struggle, wiggle, anything to loosen his grip. Florence had stayed behind and the feline wasn't sure what the cat would do, if Buddy kept her pinned.
As the she-cat slowly became tired with her efforts, her struggles decreased. The feline became still and meowed softly. She didn't speak any words, the meows were one of stress. The efforts and beating heart she had, took a toll and stressed her out. She felt tired and didn't have much energy to think about fighting. Xarkla had to blink a few times as she felt the urge to doze off.

Buddy didn’t know whether to feel despairing or triumphant as Xarkla lay beneath his paws. The Leopard she-Cat hissed and struggled, pushing her paws against his stomach. He could tell that she fully expected him to kill her, or at least attempt to. Gradually, her struggles decreased and stopped. The Scottish Wildcat knew that he could finish her off, if he wanted to. But he discovered that he didn’t, and wouldn’t kill her. He propelled himself and the Lexis she-cat away from the roof’s edge, keeping one green eye fixed on her face. He couldn’t let her escape now; if he did, he would be the laughing stock of the whole Pride, not to mention a traitor, or a weak cat in Florence’s eyes, and he did not wish to be seen as either. He wouldn’t do that, not even for Xarkla.
The hulking tomcat looked over his shoulder briefly and yowled to his leader, “I’ve got her, Florence. What do you want me to do with her?” Turning back to the pinned Leopard Cat, her curled back his lips in a snarl, but spoke softly to the she cat, so that to all intents and purposes, he looked as if he were threatening her. “Xarkla. I can’t let you go now, but if she tells me to kill you, you have to do something to change her mind? Do you understand me? I can’t let you go now. If you agree, just blink, don’t nod.” He needed her to understand that it would be a form of suicide to let the Lexis Tribe she-cat go free now; that was all he could do for her, at least at the moment.

Florence saw Buddy catch the trespasser, and they tumbled across the roof, with Buddy getting the upper paw and managing to pin her against the ground. Florence stopped and watched, wondering whether she'd give the killing blow, but nothing happened. Instead, there was just silence as the struggles ceased. Florence leapt from the last roof and landed on the one the other two cats were situated. As she approached, her eyes scanned the Lexis cat and wondered what she had been doing up here on the roofs. There was no prey to kill her, and it must've been on purpose. Narrowing her eyes, she stared down at her with mocking clear on her face. No, she wouldn't order to kill. Florence was intrigued, and it'd be much more fun if she tortured her first. Florence turned to Buddy when he asked what he should do, and Florence nodded, making up her mind.
"Take her to Huntington Hospital," She ordered, voice full of authority, "Take her to the scum floor and lock her in a room. I will be back to torture her shortly. And Buddy," She added quickly, "You will help me with the torture." Florence didn't know what it was about Buddy, but she swore he was keeping something from her. Florence didn't like to be lied to, but Florence couldn't prove anything. Instead, she raised her skull and looked over at the large building in the distance. The hospital held every scum that they caught. Most were starved and had been turned mad. Florence often visited them, torturing them to the brink of death, before she'd leave them again. Florence turned to look at the pathetic Lexis cat, and wondered how long it would take before she would break. Florence shivered in anticipation, and she nudged Buddy along.
"If you lose her on the way," Florence snarled, "You will be the one to be locked up and treated as scum. Bear that in mind."

"Speech!"
At Buddy's words the she-cat had the urge to nod, but did a quick blink. She put on a feared expression as to along as the wild cat was made threats at her. Xarkla turned her skull as Florence arrived. At the mention of being tortured and locked up the feline pinned back her ears. She wouldn't put up a fight, not now at least as she was fatigued and not ready to be killed. Who knew if she pissed off the lioness what would happen?
Xarkla flicked her tail as she waited for Buddy to get off. She wasn't going to run. With all her energy wasted, Buddy could pin her in a heart beat if she tried to leave. The she-cat looked away from both creatures, decided to just accept her punishment. She deserved it as she ignored Buddy's warnings. Xarkla pinned her ears once more at the thought of Buddy helping. She knew he wouldn't want to and probably do it but in the least possible painful way. At least this is what she was hoping. The feline sighed and waited. Who knew what the Iris Pride used or called torture? The she-cat had never been abused and wasn't in any mood to find out what it was like.
OOC: Short. Shall we make a thread in the Hospital?
