[x] Grant the mortals power, and they will do with it what they have always done in the past – abuse it to their hearts’ desire. Oh, of course there are always the select few who try to use it for the greater good, but their efforts are always a waste. The only effective outcome of their gaining magic is the stress it adds to the Gods’ day-to-day lives, and when one lives forever, such stress tends to grate one’s nerves…
[x] Generations had passed since Nyx and his siblings granted the mortals magic upon Nyx’s urgent demand. It was to be their protection from the peril Nyx had dreamed was coming to Eylar. He had foreseen the world’s demise through his dreams. The three Gods wanted the mortals to be safe, wanted them to have some form of defense against the prophecy Nyx was certain would come true. However, great powers often bring destruction and misery. Mortals from every corner of Eylar had used their gift to take the life of another, to force them to bend to their will, to entertain their sadistic desires as they saw fit. And where did their damned souls wind up? With Sephryne, of course.
[x] Sephryne’s Underworld had amassed countless numbers of horrid souls over the years the mortals had spent with their magic. It was overpopulated with the damned, and she began banishing some to Netherhell – a place far worse and less merciful. With no other options available, she decided to request that her brother, Nyx, rescind the mortals’ magic. When he refused, she was furious. The dark goddess sent her own creatures to earth to act as guards of a sort. They were to stop the mortals from abusing their magic. The vixen weakened the boundary between the Gods’ realm and the mortal world. Unbeknownst to the Goddess, however, other creatures of the Gods’ realm were stealthily slipping past the weakened boundary, unleashing themselves on the mortal world with no one to control them. Creatures of untold power and strange abilities were running unchecked through Eylar. Oh, what chaos this was sure to cause.
[x] With the escaped creatures running rampant, are the inhabitants of Eylar safe? Will the dark Goddess’s children do as she bade them, or will they take their own path? Are Nyx’s dreams something to be ignored, or is Eylar truly in danger? The only dependable thing about the future is uncertainty. Can you handle it?
