”You take that one!” she barked as she pushed one of her friends hard with her forepaws so he fell to the ground. The two other puppies wanted to be a part of the fight as well, so they threw themselves into the fight and the four puppies were soon caught up in their own game, snapping and pushing each other around for fun. The three other puppies had teased Victoria because she was deaf on her left ear so she’d become angry and attacked the “leader” of the “bullies” to make them stop teasing her and the bullying had now become a play fight between everyone where no one was on anyone’s side. Victoria was now almost half a year old, and fewer and fewer of her friends teased her with her deaf ear. They’d started to respect it by learning that she was just as good a fighter as anyone else of them; if not one of the best. She was big and strong of build and she was definitely not a crybaby so if anyone dared to tease her, she would take them down in a fight. Just like now. The two other puppies, the two beagle-siblings, ran away because their mother called for them so Victoria could now focus on the male Rottweiler who’d been the worst of them. He was almost a month younger than her, but he was strong, so it still took some time before she could force him down to the ground and make him surrender. But she did it! She was so cool! Now she definitely had something to tell her family about – and Kai too! She was still pretty excited that she’d befriended a dog so much older than her, so she almost couldn’t wait to see the other female again. ”Ouch, let me go!” the Rottweiler-puppy exclaimed as she’d bit him a little too had in the neck. ”Ha-ha! Now you know not to tease me again Ethan! ” she teased him victoriously has she pulled away from him. The two puppies jumped around in front of the Asylum for some time as other members of the Tempest Pack passed by, watching the two puppies playing peacefully. But it didn’t take long before the male Rottweiler had to go too. It was lunchtime, so there weren’t many puppies of her age to play around with at this moment of the day. She said goodbye to her friend and watched him walk inside of the Asylum. Victoria’s parents were both Soldiers so it would take a little while more before they came with food. Her and her other siblings were now allowed to walk around on their own once a week where both Nemesis and Clegane had to work, but they still had to stay inside of the Pack’s borders, so Victoria had never been outside of the Pack’s territory. But she would as soon as she was old enough! The air was cool because winter was coming. She didn’t know what winter was, so she’d asked a lot about it to her parents and the other Packmembers and all of them had said that winter was a hard and cold time of the year. Then it’s good I’ve got such a warm coat, Victoria thought as she strolled around on her own. [/blockquote]

It had been a couple of months since she had befriended the mortal enemies' spawn. She knew she was playing with fire, she knew what dangers she faced and yet Natiri didn't give a damn. She liked the fact that she had knowledge that practically no-one else in Tempest did, she knew that felines weren't all evil. It was all lies, all of it. Puppies were brainwashed to think nonsense like all cats were mindless selfish devils. Natiri knew this couldn't be less true. She herself had first hand experience, Denim was her friend. The son of Florence, leader of Iris Pride. It felt strange to say it, even inside her head. She wasn't too keen on the idea of friendship, Iri wasn't one to make friends easily. She was too strange, too abnormal, too different. Yet Denim didn't seem to mind and Natiri was pleased by this.
What she wasn't pleased with however, was the amount of racket her sister and her playmates were making. Natiri was next door to them, snuggled down into a warm quilt left behind by the strange upwalkers that General Hueso told stories of. She was alone in the room, as usual. She tried to avoid Tempest pack members as much as possible, all they seemed to want to talk about was fighting and how much they wanted to sink their canines into felines, which always made her shudder. Just the thought of her lion friend being attacked by one of her fellow pack members made her head spin with anger and concern.
She had missed out on a decent night's sleep because she had made a visit during the evening to see Denim. They met at their normal den in the banks of Laredo River, and the trip there and back had exhausted her. To make matters worse, Denim hadn't been in the best of moods. His siblings were captured by her pack, her pack were holding his brothers and sister captive. The husky mix pup tried to think how she would feel if Hendrix or Victoria or any of her siblings were kidnapped by Iris. Yet would she defy her parents, her pack, her extended family who fed and cared for her? Defy them completely and rescue the lion cubs? She didn't know, she really didn't. It was really grating, and the weight of it all pressed down hard on her shoulders. To make her mood even worse, Victoria's loud domineering voice wrung in her ears.
Growling inaudibly, Natiri lifted herself slowly to her paws. She wasn't going to get any sleep was she? Irritably, the fluffy black, tan and white canine padded out of the small dark room. Just as she entered the hallway, a large rottweiler pup shoved past her, smirking over his shoulder as he dashed past. Little Iri stumbled aside, narrowing her eyes in icy contempt. Ignorant, arrogant fool.. what does he know of the world? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Snorting to herself, Natiri steadily plodded outside as she tried to blink the sleep away from her mind and eyes. As she did so, the tall strong figure of her litter-mate appeared. Iri sighed, and made to step around her. She wasn't exactly keen on conversing with her overly-confident, loud sister at this time of the morning.
Especially seeing as she was the reason Natiri was up.

Of the corner of her eye, Victoria saw a familiar figure coming out of the Asylum and she raced toward her sister and was in front of her in no time. ”Yo, sis!” she barked with a grin as she looked on her smaller sister. She and Natiri was about the same height, but Victoria was slightly bulkier than her sister who didn’t seem to be as fond of play fighting as she was. But Victoria didn’t mind. Natiri might be softer then her and as far as she knew, they hadn’t gotten that much in common. But that might change. Besides, they were sisters, and even though they were quite different, Victoria knew she would stand up for the smaller dog if she should ever need it – even if it was Ethan himself who would try to mess with her! No one (but herself) was going to tease her sister, and definitely not making her feel bad. Of course, Victoria had no clue that the other puppy didn’t share the same enthusiasm when it came to conversation at this moment. ”What’s up littl’ Iri?” she asked and nudged her sister with her muzzle as she walked by with a sigh. It was hard to look concerned because she was still quite happy of her victory over Ethan just before. But her sister looked really tired and Victoria came to think that she hadn’t seen her sister much these days and frowned slightly. ”I haven’t seen you much lately, sis,” she complained and went on, walking beside her sister. ”What are you doing these days? Won’t you come out and play with some of us?” she asked, referring to her and her friends. Maybe they weren’t really Natiri’s preferable circle of friends, but she realized that she had no clue of whom Natiri was hanging out with and she wouldn’t want her sister to walk around with no friends at all. Natiri was more than just a pack member - she was her family of flesh and blood, so Victoria would feel bad if she just let her sister run around on her own. Just when she thought she had managed to escape the sharp eyes and ears of her sister, the familiar tone of Victoria. "Yo sis!" Natiri couldn't help but feel her heart sink with, not resentment, but disappointment with herself that she hadn't been less conspicuous. Slowing to a stop, the black, tan and white puppy sighed and sat down. She knew there was very little chance of her getting away from her larger, louder sibling for at least ten minutes. Still, she was her sister and Iri supposed she should give Vic the time of day. She swallowed her reluctance to converse, and wrinkled up her nose. Perhaps this time she would make an effort to please her sister, maybe.. Well she could try at least couldn't she?
As the grey puppy bounded to her side, Iri heard her words loud and clear. Although Natiri knew that Victoria meant no harm in her words whatsoever, she couldn't help but feel grated by the comment. "What’s up littl’ Iri?" They were the exact same age as each other, and granting the fact that Natiri was marginally slender in bulk, the sisters were at the same height. Everybody took Iri for a quiet, thoughtful pushover but deep down she was far from weak-minded. In her head, she had more to think or say than perhaps all of Tempest Pack put together, or that is how she saw it. She just didn't know how to express these opinions to others, no, she hadn't quite got the hang of that yet.
Turning to face her relative, Natiri forced a slight wag of her tail and tried to relax her stiff posture and facial expression. Very quietly, Iri swallowed and opened her maw "Morning." Well, that hadn't exactly come out as she had planned. It was as if her voice box had a sensor on what came out of that little mouth of her's, and no matter how she staged it in her mind, her speech always stopped too short. As Victoria seemed intent to keep moving, Iri stood up and padded in a vaguely similar direction; her concentration was already waning. Then something her sister said caught her attention, perhaps better than anything else she could have tried on Iri. "I haven’t seen you much lately, sis"
Natiri tensed immediately, and came to a sharp halt. Swiveling her fluffy ears towards her sister tentatively, she hung on every word, her heart pounding in her chest. Natiri was struck by how unnerved and fearful she felt, simply at the thought of her sister discovering the truth about her mutiny to Brooke. She hadn't really thought that anybody would ever find out, not if she was super careful. The idea that perhaps Victoria knew all about it, and planned on telling their parents and the pack shocked her to the core, and her paws quivered in uncertainty. It also brought out her darker mood, in a defensive manner she shot back at Vic "I don't hang around with your bunch." She narrowed her ears and flattened her ears "I'm usually trying to get some peace and quiet from this hellhole we're supposed to call home." She snorted, and took a deep intake of breath. It was highly unusual for any sort of outburst to emerge from Iri's lips, so the puppy surprised even herself when the words burst out.

They went side by side as her shy sister greeted her. But as Victoria noted that she hadn’t seen Natiri much around, her sister tensed and came to a sudden halt, and the grey puppy wondered what was wrong. But she continued talking nonetheless, which didn’t seem to be a good choice at all. Her sister had clearly been offended by something she’d said and now shot back an answer. "I don't hang around with your bunch." Natiri said and Victoria pricked up her ears, not entirely believing what she’d just heard. It wasn’t like Natiri to be so blunt – and especially not rude on the same time. But whatever Victoria thought she knew about her sister was wiped away as the other puppy continued, eyes narrowed and ears laid back. "I'm usually trying to get some peace and quiet from this hellhole we're supposed to call home," Natiri burst out with a snort. ”Hellhole!?” Victoria exclaimed as she tried to get the meaning of the words her sister had just said. ”Natiri what are you talking about?” She shook her head disbelieve. ”Iri, just listen to yourself - how can you say such a thing? You have your family here; mom loves you, dad loves you, I love you – your entire family loves you and then you call this a hellhole?” she narrowed her eyes a bit to see her sister’s reaction. How dared she say such a thing about this place? But then her features softened as she looked back at her sister. She was usually so timid… ”What’s wrong Iri? Something must be nagging you since you’re acting like this. You know you can tell me if someone is mean to you, I’ll help you if I can – mom and dad would certainly help you as well if needed,” she said while sitting back on her haunches, waiting her sister’s answer. Her heart skipped a beat when a look of confusion passed over Victoria's grey muzzle. Had she suspected something through the way Natiri had reacted defensively? How could she have been so foolish, it wasn't like her to blow her cool which was something she seemed to be doing more often that she liked these days. Perhaps it was the pressure that her friendship with Denim was becoming more and more dangerous and taught by the week, the longer his siblings stayed in their little cell.
Nonetheless, the look of curiosity vanished from sisters face as she continued to speak in a sour tone. Iri rolled her eyes as her sister exclaimed in disbelief, of course, Victoria was infatuated with the whole idea of Tempest. She had no idea, she really didn't have a clue what real troubles lay beyond the four corners of Tempest territory. She didn't have to worry about whether she should come clean to her family about her real beliefs, she didn't have a care in the world. Her life would be perfect all the way through, she would become the best fighter, bear puppies to a handsome dog that also liked ripping cats heads' off.
Natiri had only once thought about courtship, romance, love, puppies and her own family. It had left her with so much revulsion that the young bitch felt nauseous, to be honest it was unlikely that anybody would love her anyway. From what she had seen, young males like sweet yet bold, bubbly little females. Natiri was bitter, shy, selfish, incredibly quiet and fiercely particular on the people she hung around with. If you didn't fit into the personality criteria then you didn't stand a chance of gaining Iri's attention for longer than 30 seconds.
She stopped now, and turned to face the grey pup. Victoria looked agitated, angry even, not the feeling that Natiri had desired to stir up inside her sister. An angry family member meant that they were more likely to aggravate her, and cause her to blurt words that perhaps she should keep to herself. Taking a deep breath, letting her provocative words fly over her head. She wouldn't let anything get to her, that was the last thing she needed right now, more stress. So she decided to lie.
Twisting a cold smile onto her lips she attempted to cover up her irritation. She had to force out the sickly words from her mouth, it was almost physically painful for her to be so.. kind. "Of course, I'm just tired is all. I know that I am loved, its just sometimes I feel a little claustrophobic, don't you ever get the desire to wander from the confinement of our territory?" She had to make it believable, and the desire to explore would no doubt hit a nerve with her sister, Victoria was a curious little pup.
"I'm fine Victoria, seriously, no need to worry at all!" But it was what her sister said next that really riled Natiri, the fact that she was already willing to use violence to sort out their problems. It really hit Iri hard then, just how much her siblings had been brainwashed by Tempest and Iris. To use their brute strength instead of intelligence and communication skills. Maybe it was time that she said something, she couldn't hide her true self forever..
"Oh alright. You want to know what's the problem? You, all of you, all of these ignorant fools in Tempest. We are fighting a war which is nothing but destructive to our lives and families. How many dogs and cats could have been saved if some of us said no to killing each other. It is simply mindless slaughter Victoria. Just think for a minute, or has your mind been so brainwashed by deception and lies that thinking for yourself is inconceivable?!"

She’d just sat back on her haunches as Natiri literally exploded. The words flew out of her sister who normally was quite a timid character and she was far angrier than Victoria had ever imagined she could be. And if she wasn’t shocked by her smaller sister’s words, then Victoria was definitely taken aback by her sister’s words. But as Natiri was done, Victoria felt her blood started to boil in her veins. ”How can you say such stupid things Natiri!?” she asked loudly, almost yelling at her sibling while standing up on her four. ”Do you really think the Iris Pride would stop killing us if we said no to fighting them? No, Natiri, they wouldn’t – they would laugh in our faces, spit on us and then tear our heads off out shoulders without considering our suggestion about peace.”She panted for a second and then gestured with her head to the place around them while speaking again. ”Look around you Iri,” her tone was calmer now, put still demanding answers from her sister. ”Why do you think we’re here, huh? The Tempest Pack, why have we gathered? I’ll tell you; we’re here, gathered to fight the evil that has tainted our lives. Every single adult in this pack has had his or her life ruined in one way or another because of the felines. Just take a walk around and talk to them, Iri. I’ve done that, I’ve heard their stories. Have you?” she shook her head and looked down on the ground shortly. Then her lips parted in a laugh that never reached her eyes and she looked at Natiri again. ”One of them even tried to kill Mother, Iri… Daddy told me that. They’re evil… why should we give them a chance to kill us off as easily as sheep?” Her voice had become almost fragile. Her parents had always seemed invincible to her, but she’d seen other adult canines who had been wounded by the felines and her father had told her that neither he nor her mother were any different. That was how it was in life – you had to be careful and not think yourself invincible. If you slacked on one of them, you would easily be killed.
