Makayla walks. Makayla talks. Makayla's thoughts.
The wind was gentle and the temperatures were hot and it was proving to be bothersome for the tigress. Because of her species, she wasn't designed for hot summers and it was getting to her. Her limbs ached and her tongue was hanging from her jaw in an effort to cool herself down. It was at times like this that she would usually find some sort of water source, but she just wanted to visit the zoo first.
Coming to the zoo was something Makayla did a lot. It reminded her of her life as one of the zoo's attractions. Even though it felt like she was being exploited, it was still her home for the majority of her life. She was born and raised at Hexasol Zoo and she still considered it her home. She would visit here at least once a week, just wandering around the area thinking about all the unfortunate animals that didn't make it out.
A gentle rumble escaped Kay's throat as her stomach made a complaint. Now the Siberian tigress wasn't just dehydrated and overheated, she was hungry now too. Sooner or later, she would have to go hunting, or find something to eat but for now, her top priority was getting something to drink. A few more minutes wandering around, then she would leave to find a water source, perhaps by the river, or the lake. Turning her head, Kay gazed in all the fenced enclosures, her head held low as she thought about the poor animals trapped inside. Carcasses littered some exhibits but she wouldn't think about eating them. Maybe as a last resort, and if they weren't rotten... The six year old feline shook the thought from her head and continued on her journey.

Sota walks, ”Sota talks”
She hadn’t been on the Pride’s territory for a few days now. She’d been busy finding water sources for the Iris Pride like many of the other spies had. Water was scarce these days, so it was important to patrol at the water sources which were to find in Hexasol and beyond. The heat in itself wasn’t a problem to the female cheetah – it was the lack of water and prey. It was all about the water. When there was a drought, the game disappeared in their need to find water. But the Iris Pride, Tempest Pack and Lexis tribe were all holding their ground instead of leaving Hexasol in their search for food… and water. Just a few weeks more, then the rain would fall, hopefully.
Sota had a day off work and had spent much time in the shadows already just to cool herself down a bit even though the heat wasn’t her biggest problem due to her short fur. But she’d been bored while lying in the sun, so her soft paws had carried her nimble body towards the Hexasol City Zoo. It wasn’t a place she came very often, actually, she’d only been here one or two times before. It was a place like this where her mother and “aunts” had been raised, in cages like that. A shiver ran down her spine at the thought. Luckily, she’d been born free. The 2-year-old cheetah couldn’t imagine how a life in an exhibit like that would have been like. It must have been terrible, nothing that she would ever have wanted.
The sound of heavy steps reached her round ears. Someone was here. And it was definitely a stranger. She sniffed silently in the air with raised head. A tigress, quite some years older than her, and Lexis. How could the Lexis Tribe have gotten an ally like that? Such a strong and noble creature? She knew they already had a male tiger among them which were bad news already to the Pride, but a tiger more? So they had Streiter and a tiger of each gender. She sneered at the thought. Florence wouldn’t be pleased to know that. Maybe she should give the big cat a visit? Maybe the Siberian tigress wouldn’t be that hard to have a chat with? Trusting her own intentions, Sota began to follow the scent of the older female.
It didn’t take long for the Iris Spy to find the big cat. A gentle rumble emerged from the tigress as she looked around in the zoo, probably looking for something to eat. And what a coat. This one certainly had a problem during this drought. She was after all a Siberian tiger. How magnificent if the Iris Pride could get a member like her. They would definitely have an upper hand against the Tempest Pack – as if they didn’t have that already with Florence’s seven cubs. Choosing not to stay hidden from the striped cat, Sota approached the tigress with a few steps while clearing her throat. ”Excuse me,” she said with a smile, trying to get the other female’s attention. ”You’ looking for something particular? I might be able to help you.” How gorgeous it would be if the tigress would choose to join the Iris Pride. She could only hope for the best, but if the tigress would show herself stubborn as a mule, Sota would have nothing but claws and fangs as a greeting toward the striped cat. But for now, she would be just as friendly as she was towards her fellow Pride members. And hopefully the tiger wouldn’t mark her as one from the Iris Pride from the beginning – she had after all been away from the Pride in a few days, but you could never know. If the tiger knew she was an Iris member from the start, it could mayhaps make things more difficult for Sota to make the big cat convert to Iris. But who knew? You always had the right to try.

Makayla walks. Makayla talks. Makayla's thoughts.
The large feline continued on her way with her jaws separated slightly in an attempt to cool herself down. Tigers weren't adapted for live in the city and it was getting to Makayla. Despite the fact that the air was starting to cool, it was still too warm for the female's thick patterned fur. She moved with slow paw steps as she tried her best to use as little energy as possible to get on her way. She wasn't traveling any where in particular, just somewhere that might contain food or even more important at this precise moment in time, water.
The six year old tiger hadn't been part of the Lexis tribe for very long but so far it was certainly better than the life of solitude. Tigers are adapted for single life but in circumstances such as this, having a group to return to each day wasn't exactly a bad idea. She wanted to prove to the group though that she deserved to be there so hunting was one of her duties. She longed to stumble across something descent to bring back to the tribe but so far nothing had really caught her eye. And even if she did find something, in her state it would be hard for her to stalk it and bring it down. If her panting wasn't loud enough, her growling stomach and large size would be sure to scare off any potential prey before she could get close enough to attack.
The scent of another feline distracted Makayla from her thoughts. She stopped instantly and lifted her head to sniff the air. This cat was certainly not of Lexis origin. The tigress lowered her body and took a few steps towards the scent. The strong smell of a female soon reached her nostrils. Her eyes opened wide. Kay was a hunter, not a protector but in times such as this she decided to take matters in to her own paws. The female refused to move until she was positive about the whereabouts of the Iris cat. A grin formed on her face, a tiger of her size would surely prove to be no competition against a tiny domestic pet.
The voice of the feline startled her slightly and she turned her head to face her opponent. Expecting to see a small house cat, Kay was surprised at what she had discovered. This cat was certainly no pet. Standing in front of her was a beautiful spotted animal with a golden coat. A cheetah. Makayla still had the upper hand in strength and size but in speed this creature was sure to have the advantage. Although Lexis was the tribe of peace, Kay wasn't afraid to attack if she felt it was necessary.
"I don't need any help thank you very much. I'm perfectly fine on my own." The tigress explained firmly, deliberately trying her best not to reveal too much. Even though the Lexis weren't at war with other felines, she still didn't trust this cheetah. She couldn't exactly mark this cheetah to a pride either which made her even more wary. Kay hadn't had much experience with the Iris pride so was unsure of their scent. Maybe this cat was a loner, just trying to find food like herself. Either way, she wasn't going to let her guard down quite so soon.

Sota walks, ”Sota talks”
The tigress didn’t sound very welcoming in her response. What a pity. But of course, who wasn’t aware of strangers these days when a war was going on? It could be dangerous to be too naïve, but still, with a feline like the female before her, she shouldn’t have much to fear – it was the fewest who could be dangerous toward a tiger like her, though Sota was sure she could give the tiger a scratch or two if it should come to that.
But she chose to stay nice a little more, who knew if the tiger would loosen up? She smiled genuinely before speaking again. ”No offense meant, dear, but you look like someone who could use a little help – most of us could in this drought,” she said light-heartedly, chatting in the friendly way she usually did. And what she said wasn’t a lie, since most creatures had a hard time during a drought, and this female certainly looked like one of them. She lifted her head a bit and sniffed in the air, pretending that she hadn’t caught the scent of the Lexis Tribe on the other female before now. ”Oh, you’re from Lexis, right?” she asked and perked up her rounded ears, but didn’t wait for a response before continuing. ”How can it be you aren’t getting any help from your tribe members in this heat, then?” She crooked her head while asking. She wanted to make a spitting comment about the canines being too lazy to help others, but she held her tongue like the professional spy she was. She hadn’t been in Hexasol for that long, but her ambitious behaviour made it easier for her to learn the ways of a spy, and she’d already learned not to let her tongue run away with her.

Makayla walks. Makayla talks. Makayla's thoughts.
The large female refused to take her golden eyes off the spotted feline in front of her. She couldn't tell if she was part of a pride or if she was a loner, but one thing for sure was that she certainly wasn't in the Lexis tribe so right now she couldn't be trusted. The cheetah seemed friendly enough but she wasn't going to let her guard down just because she was offering help.
When she mentioned the drought, Kay couldn't help but agree. Although the air was beginning to get colder, it was still too hot for a large tigress like herself. She was built for the harsh extremities of winter. Kay really did want any help she could get but from a cheetah she had just met? Was it worth it? After all she couldn't smell any distinguishing scents but that just made her even more wary. She would have to be careful what she said around this female.
Makayla's ears twitched at the mention of Lexis. The cheetah continued to state the fact that she wasn't getting help from her tribe and a low pitched grumble built up in her throat. "Tigers are solitary animals." She explained bluntly. "We can handle things quite well on our own thank you very much." She wasn't going to let some golden female talk about her tribe in such a way. As much as she hated to admit it though, she did have a point. Kay had always gone off to hunt on her own though, it's just what she did. It was rare that someone would hunt with her. "And anyway, why do you care about how my tribe behaves?" She asked with a questioning tone. She remained on her haunches, her golden eyes still following the cheetah carefully. Words: 298. Muse: Okay. Other: N/A.

Sota walks, ”Sota talks”
It was clear to Sota that their little friendship was going the wrong way, and she was afraid that she’d already messed around too much so that it couldn’t be fixed unless she chose to lie. When the tiger herself started to become questioning, Sota simply chose to be honest. [ color=effcdc]”I’m sure your tribe works absolutely fine. I simply just don’t understand how you Lexis felines can live side by side with canines. If you ask me, the Tribe would be an even better place without them and you would have fewer mouths to feed during hard times.” |
She shrugged.[ color=effcdc] ”But oh well, what do I know. I see how much help you get from them,” she said with a sarcastic undertone. ”I just don’t get how you can sleep at night when such creatures are present. Who knows which night they will do something terrible to you?” she asked worryingly but continued to talk. ”But I’m sure they won’t dare to harm you as long as you are as strong as you are. I’m just telling you to be careful. Right now they can use you in the Tribe, but who knows how they’ll react if you suddenly should be badly injured?” she asked the tigress as she slowly circled her, looking the magnificent creature over and stopped in front of her. ”You know, in the Iris Pride you can trust anyone. We’re like a big family just as your Tribe claim to be. We take care of each other, and you don’t have to be scared of backstabbing. We’re, after all, a pride full of felines, so there’s no chance anyone will fight each other due to different kind of breeds.” Her tone was gently enough as she spoke, but she didn’t sit down to wait for the female tiger’s reply. She didn’t know if her words had been such a big insult to the big cat that she would try to slap her, so she wouldn’t sit down and just look by if the tiger should deal her a blow. ((OCC; Not good, I know, sorry! XD)) [/div]

Makayla walks. Makayla talks. Makayla's thoughts.
Her deep brown eyes refused to pull away from the spotted feline that circled around her. She remained on her haunches, if she had to, she wouldn't be afraid to pounce. With her strength, she would surely be able to take down this cat, as long as she caught her off guard. In strength and power Kay had the upper hand, but the cheetah would surely out run her if given the chance.
Makayla's round ears twitched as the cat spoke. She could feel herself getting angered by her words. Who was she to speak so negatively about her tribe? She didn't know them. No, she wasn't a canine but just because they were different didn't mean they were heartless, selfish back stabbers. Kay's tail flickered, she was clearly getting agitated. Her eyes narrowed, if the cheetah didn't back off, she wouldn't be held responsible for her actions.
"What do you Iris cats hold against the canines? They're not all back stabbers. They're loyal and work really well as a team." She glared at the cheetah in front of her, her tail flickering faster now, an obvious sign she was getting annoyed. "And what makes you think they'll get me in my sleep? The Lexis tribe trust each other, that's what being part of the tribe is all about - trust and peace. We have no need to get in the middle of your little squabbles with the Tempest pack." Her tone grew louder and harsher after every word, her eyes flaring. "If you don't keep your mouth shut, missy, and stop talking badly about my tribe, I'm going to have to do something I really don't want to do." The tigress's voice was threatening now - she was ready to attack. Kay would do anything she could to avoid a fight but sometimes, you've got to do what you've got to. She certainly wasn't going to let some cat accuse the Lexis tribe of such things.
