Snow had been falling for days now, almost non-stop except for those few breaks every now and again, but those didn’t really count because they never lasted long. Along with the snow, freezing weather came holding the snow to the ground in what seemed like feet. Finally, though, the snow had been stopped for a few hours, but the white substance stuck to the ground with all its might and there was no way that it was going to be going anywhere anytime soon.
That was just fine with Beckett, though. While he knew it was dumb to go outside while the snow was actually falling, he found it was okay idea to go out there while it decided to stop for a while. The male cat had kept himself curled up for a few days inside the school where it wouldn’t get too cold; he slept most of the time, caught a few rodents that had made the school their home when he was hungry, and he slept some more. When he finally decided that it might be a good idea to run around for a bit, the snow had stopped itself and he was ready to play even if it was only for a short time. He knew it wasn’t a great idea to lie around every moment of every day.
So, now was his monthly play time. The lazy cat shivered at the first touch of the white snow against his paw pad, and shivered again with each step farther into it, but he pushed his play forward slowly. The snow was deep and it was going to be a slow trip if he wanted to get anywhere. For a single moment he wished he could be bigger, but the thought drifted away as soon as it came; he liked being the size he was.
Beckett sneezed and shivered, but the cold wasn’t going to send him running just yet! He was determined to have a great, super, awesome, fantastic, wonderful time and then go curl up in a ball for another month and a half. Maybe more, it all depended on what he felt like doing, and right now he felt like playing.
The tabby flung snow in the air and it showered all around him and he shook himself as the flakes landed in his fur. He sat there for a minute and looked left and right. He was all alone out here, and that was certainly a negative. Where was everyone? There weren’t any footprints anywhere, though it had been snowing for days, so that was to be expected, and there were no signs of anybody.
Maybe if he called out, someone from somewhere would come to save him from his boredom. “Hello! Is there anybody out there?” His voice seemed to echo in the empty snow covered streets. If no one decided to rescue him, he was going to go back to his makeshift home and sleep until the Spring when he knew fellow loners would be out and about.

Walking down the streets of pavement through the town was surely not the top things on her wanting to do list. Everything seemed dead since the humans went bye bye. For some reason they seemed to keep this place in pretty good shape, other than the chemicals they released into the atmosphere daily, no wonder they died. She chuckled to herself on the previous thoughts that ran through her head. This place was a definite dump. The humans garbage was everywhere, mysterious object that were still intact was scattered across the floor. Shaking her head not wanting to see any more of this trash, she turned a sharp corner near something marked ‘bank’. She walked straight up to a large tree near the building and climbed up to the very top. Her nails digging into the tree allowing her too climb it with ease. When she did get to the top she leapt onto the nearest building top. A grin formed on her lips as if in satisfaction.
She walked to the edge of the roof so she could see everything in the town. Her whiskers twitching to the area around her, her paws padded silently across the roof making no sound to detect her, her tail in the air as if to balance her when she leaped onto a beam near the edge. Green eyes looked out onto the city, the feeling of freedom pounded in her heart. ”Hello! Is there anybody out there?”
A male voice seemed to echo through the street that she was looking down on, a silhouette of a cat stood on the street. Green eyes zeroed onto the cat, trying to see it better, but the only thing she could see was black. She giggled at the new thought that formed in her head. “Hello! Is there anybody out there?” she called back to him, holding back her own laughter. She was quit bored, but this new game made everything seem a bit more fun, and since she was answering him from a tall beam, he would probably think it was just an echo, but if he was smart then he would be able to tell the voice that came back too him was not his voice, but a females.
