Up on melancholy hill There's a plastic tree Are you here with me? Just looking out on the day Of another dream
The day was unusually cold, and many would choose to sleep in few minutes later on this type of morning. The sun would arise in a few moments, and the encircling mist drifted about, knowing strangely it was soon to disappear. Frost outlined every blade of grass, sending the ground into a chilly, white world. But as many cold morning do, this one would soon disappear. But at least there was one feline there to witness it come and go.
Well you can't get what you want But you can get me So let's set up and see, love
Aberdeen sat carefully on the edge of some old, wooden bridge. The railroad tracks the feline had come across ran across it in the middle, rusty and sad. The feline contemplated whether they, the tracks, felt as dead as the rest of this landscape did. So empty. The feline was quietly at ease, her mind playing a soft melody she could say she knew and enjoyed. A sad song. But, a good one none the less.
'Cause you are my medicine When you're close to me When you're close to me
Looking down, the white and orange feline tried to grasp at why the humans would build such a bridge. It was hardly a few feet off the ground, and there was what looked like a stream bed underneath it. It was dried up from what Aberdeen could only fathom the drought of the summer. Since the harsh season, the world seemed a bit quieter. A little bit smaller. Not that the feline didn't like it that way; she most definitively did; she just wasn't use to it yet. Not running into anybody on a journey which left her a long way from where she had originally begun was surprising, and the feline didn't expect it to last much longer. Her solitude would be broken soon enough.
So call in the submarine 'round the world we'll go
One might ask why the feline was up so particularly early that day, and Aberdeen would shrug it off, avoiding the question all together. She had woken up not far from here, in the dead of night, after being held in her narcoleptic condition for who knows how much time. She knew she was hungry, that was all. Maybe she slept for a day or so. The weather hadn't seemed to change all that much. As the train tracks led further away from Hexasol, the grounds sloped further downwards, and turned away into a large patch of brush. And back behind her was a place she already knew. Perhaps...?
Does anybody know If we're looking out on the day Of another dream
And with that final thought, the feline leaped from the bridge somewhat ungraceful, and landed in the dry stream bed. The mist parted as the feline landed, moving in either direction away from the thin mass of fur. From there the feline headed forward, unknowingly coming closer to Hexasol with each step. She had heard rumors of the place, of the great war that affected life there. Aberdeen wasn't necessarily fond of war, but what would come her way when she got there? She had no idea.
If you can't get what you want Then you come with me
After a little while of walking, the ground sloped steeply upwards, and the river bed was lost in a tangle of weeds and thick plants. Aber considered what could be on the other side of this place. Paradise was always an option. And that soundly like reason enough to brave the vines and tendrils that hung from the large trees. The felines paws crunched the frost that coated the plants as she pushed forward, slipping through the undergrowth. She though little of any of this, she was just going on her merry way. Alone. Who would find her out here if she were to suddenly fall asleep? If she awoke without a clue to where she was. God, she'd be lost. At least she'd have this delightful music. It seemed to pull her up the steep slope, guided her paws as they hit the ground and propelled her up. Faster and faster and faster...
Up on melancholy hill Sits a manatee Just looking out on the day When you're close to me When you're close to me
Crashing through the underbrush, Aberdeen came to a stop at the top of the slope. She was atop a large hill, that stood over top a large meadow. Scanning further, the feline came to terms with the fact she could see for miles. And on the horizon, bathed in the new morning sunlight, was a huge, city. The feline could only place it as Hexasol. Eyes like crystallized tears, the feline sat down and let out a small sigh, before settling down and letting her mind drift away.
When you're close to me -- Welcome to Hexasol, Aberdeen! Open to whatever, just kinda wanted to make her story of coming into Hexasol. Yeah.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://i53.tinypic.com/67rv9g.jpg] It had been awhile since the she-cat had been out here. She couldn’t remember the last time she had left Lexis territory. It was probably when the kits were born, or a short while after that. But that was a long, long time ago. With a soft sigh, she blinked a few times, remembering when her kits were small and clung close to her and their father. Those were the days, when she was surrounded by the ones that she loved.
Lately, though, she only rarely ran into any of them. It made her sad that she didn’t know what her kits or Pancake were up to. And then there was Quincy; her poor daughter who had passed away. It made her sad to think that one of her children wasn’t able to live to see her adulthood; she wasn’t able to live life to its fullest. Doll smiled at the memories, though. It was great times when she was with Pancake and her four kits.
She hadn’t come out here to remember her past, though. She didn’t want to think about anything at all. That was why she came out her; to get away from all the painful memories that came with constantly being in Lexis territory. It was lonely there, and she was tired of her mind taking her to painful place. Maybe out here she would make a friend that she could talk to. That would be nice. She wouldn’t have to be alone anymore.
This morning was a cold one, with winter approaching Hexasol fast. The she-cat shivered as a cold breeze blew by her, but she kept walking. She didn’t necessarily know where she was headed, but forward seemed like a good option. She hadn’t really seen any active animals, but that was probably due to the cold, early morning. She was about to give up hope, though. She wanted someone to talk to and she was going to find someone, even if it took all morning.
Only then, though, did she actually think about where she was and what she was doing. She wasn’t in Lexis territory anymore, not everyone was going to be friendly. Out here, while there were some friendly animals around, they were a lot meaner and rougher and she wasn’t going to be able to tell which they were from afar. She sat down with a sigh. Maybe she should have stayed on Lexis territory and found someone new to talk to there. At least she knew they weren’t out to get her.
Then the she-cat looked up to the top of the hill. A small orange and white, cat-like figure was settling down into the grass. Doll’s ears perked up and she stood and took a few steps forward. Disregarding her previous thoughts about danger, she slowly made her way closer to the figure. If worst came to worst, she would be able to run. She took careful steps up the hill, and when she knew she was in earshot, she called out a simple greeting. “Hello?”

Aberdeen's prediction for company was proven correct rather quickly. Not long after she appeared on the hill, a small orange feline came into view. Well, maybe it was a feline. Squinting, the white and ginger feline couldn't really tell. Perhaps it was an alligator. She'd never seen an alligator before. She hoped it was, the feline felt her fur prick at the thought of having somebody near her. Sure, she knew she wasn't the most sociably feline out there, nor did she want to be. So people gave her the shivers. Aber just hoped the creature would pass by without looking at her. Just to her luck, it did the opposite.
And, sadly, was not an alligator.
Aberdeen shifted where she sat, ears twitching. Her huge, bright blue eyes stared intently at the approaching feline, but it was as if she saw right through it's fiery ginger pelt. Like it wasn't slowly making it's way up to her. A buzzing sounded in her left ear, and Aberdeen lifted a paw to bat away at it. It continued like a drone, the the feline decided to ignore it, shifting her ear as to lessen the sound.
Aberdeen cocked her head, in a birdlike manner, one might say, as the feline called out to her. A simple "hello". The white and ginger feline stood up, and awkwardly dipped her head in greeting, shifting her paws all the while. "Ah... hello." She called back, "How, are you?" Yes, it was an odd thing to say, but Aberdeen felt it the best thing to say at the time. The alligat- NO. The cat was furred with the dying sun, and had beautiful summer fields as eyes. Aberdeen stood looking at the feline, scanning with her own brilliant eyes, waiting for whatever kind of answer she could get.
ooc;; Ahh! Sorry for the short crapiness of this!

Doll relaxed a little, though she still stayed far enough away so that she could run if she needed to. Now that she was close, she looked at the other cat on the hill; she was a female as well, and she reminded Doll a lot of her daughter, Flurry. This cat, though, had big, stunning blue eyes that seemed to shine even brighter in the morning sun. It reminded Doll of water during a sunset in the summer. She smiled and sat down wrapping her tail around her feet. “I’m good!” she said, just loud enough for the other she-cat to hear her. “How are you on this lovely morning?”
Doll wanted to move closer, but she was still afraid that she was going to be attacked. The she-cat looked harmless, though. Still, a lot of things looked harmless that really weren’t. She was going to chance in this once; the she-cat wasn’t really in the mood to have a conversation that had to be carried out be yelling. Slowly, she stood up, and made her way over to the ginger and white she-cat and sat close enough so that could talk at a normal volume, but far enough away that she was comfortable with being next to a stranger. Maybe if they would have known each other, she could have curled up right next to her so they could share warmth on this cold morning. But no, she stayed a few feet away and curled up in the grass, shivering as the cold blades touched her warm belly fur.
“I’m Doll, by the way.” She said as she realized that she hadn’t been told the other cat’s name, yet. “What’s your name?”
ooc- Yours isn't short and crappy, but mine is, though Dx

It seemed to Aberdeen that the feline was just as nervous about her, then she was about her. If that made any sense at all. It did to the ginger and white feline, and the thought calmed inner turmoil, if only slightly. The sunlight cat called back a reply, catching Aberdeen's attention. What had she said to the feline, anyhow? She couldn't remember. Before she could call back to the female, she got up, and slowly came closer.
She sat near Aberdeen, not incredible close, but not so far away as they had to yell just to be able to hear one another. The ginger and white feline sat down awkwardly, clawing at the grass. She fidgeted nervously, and her tail twitched several times before she finally spoke. "I'm, uh, doing well." She paused. Should she ask how she was doing? Was that polite? But, before she could ask, the feline spoke again, this time giving over her name. Doll. Odd, Aberdeen thought she'd be named something extreme, elegant, like her coat. Something like fire. How disappointing, she wanted to say. However, the feline didn't want to explain herself to this... this Doll person.
"I am called Aberdeen." The feline nodded at her, slightly. "Though I often call myself Aber, as a way to shorten things." She looked pensive as she said this, but quickly oriented her thoughts, and cast a wide eyed look in Doll's direction. She hoped Doll would continue talking, as she really had nothing to say. It wasn't her fault she was a mess; that ringing in her ears was becoming more bothersome. Alas, the sunlight cat, Doll, said nothing more. The silence stretched between them, racked with an electrical tension. Aberdeen lifted her paw, examining it quickly and swiping it with her tongue.
Her eyes were bright, sparked, when she came up with something to say, as to avoid the silence from stretching more then it already had. "Do you come from that city?" Aber asked, motioning to the tops of the metal buildings that drifted on some distance away. She had figured that if she wanted to venture into the city, she should know a little bit about it before hand. Though it was entirely possible that she'd forget it in a manner of hours.

Doll watched as the other cat clawed at the grass and twitched her tail. She could clearly see that she wasn’t the only one who was nervous in this situation, but knowing that, it didn’t make her feel any less awkward than she did. Doll nodded her head to acknowledge that she had heard the ginger and white cat’s words, but she said nothing else, as she waited for the other feline to speak again.
Aberdeen. The name sounded strange to her, but that was no different than usual. Most of the names of the creatures she met sounded weird and different to her. But Aberdeen, the name fit the other she-cat, and it had a nice ring to it as well. “I like your name.” Doll murmured quietly looking at the cat next to her. Aber looked at Doll with wide-eyes, as if for her to continue the conversation, but the she-cat didn’t really know what else to say.
She placed her emerald eyes at her feet as the awkward silence grew between them. Slow breathing and the blowing of the wind was the only thing that filled Doll’s ears. Doll looked back up at her ‘conversation partner’ and saw she was looking at her paw and licked it. She wondered if maybe she should do something, as well, instead of just sit there.
As Doll continued to stare at the other cat, Aber’s eyes became bright and Doll’s soon followed suit. She hoped that the other cat happened something to say so that they could be thrown out of this awkwardness and into an interesting topic. The ginger cat’s face sort of fell, though, when she heard the question that was asked. She thought about it for a long second, before she decided to speak. “Not exactly…” were her first words, but she didn’t want the other feline to be let down, so she continued to speak. “I come from a little further than that. I live in a Tribe, the Lexis Tribe to be exact. I don’t know if you know anything about them or anything, though.” Doll let out a quick, shaky laugh before she continued to go on. “But, if you have any direct questions or just little bits of information, I’m sure I can help you out! I’m not saying I know everything, but I do know some basic information, so, Doll at your service!” She hopped onto her feet and stepped a bit closer to the other cat. “I can even show you around someday if you’d like! Though, I haven’t been everywhere… Maybe we can explore together!”
Yeah! the she-cat jumped for joy in her mind. Exploring would be a good way for them to become friends; if the other cat even wanted that. She hoped she did, though. Doll didn’t really know her well, but she seemed like she could be friendly if she got to talking more. The ginger cat hoped that someday Aber would take her up on her offer.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,450,true] | [atrb=background,http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/7818/aberdeentable1middlecop.jpg] Aberdeen shuffled nervously, watching as Doll's expression shifted from excited to somewhat disappointed. Had she said something wrong? The ginger and white feline watched intently, eyes staring hard into the sunlight cat as she thought about Aber's question. The nervous she-cat became somewhat impatient, as Doll took her time before she spoke again. What exactly, was she taking so long to answer for? The white and ginger feline was unaware that the 'long, impending silence' was but a few seconds. It seemed like a lifetime, to her.
When Doll did start to speak, however, Aberdeen couldn't help but focus her attention on the flaming ginger she-cat. "Tribe..." she echoed, absorbing what the stranger was saying. When Doll let out a silvery laugh, Aberdeen was rather shocked. The sound surprised her, and her ears flicked back a bit. They were, however, not there for long, as Doll seemed to be positively brimming with optimism. Aberdeen felt encased by it, and however much she despised company, the feline couldn't but give a small, encouraging smile that grew as Doll's words flew on.
A thousand questions flew to mind when Doll offered herself as a informer. She could inform Aber, perhaps, where she was to go next if she wanted to enter the forest of building that lay just a little ways off. The fiery ginger she-cat jumped to her feet, and Aberdeen quite nearly sprung up herself, as she was surprised by this motion. Thinking it was right, the ginger and white feline stood as well, giving her whiskers an excited little twitch.
So Doll was an explorer! How perfect! She would most definitely help Aberdeen search for paradise, wouldn't she? Aber nearly felt her fur rising from excitement, partly because they other feline was becoming so overjoyed that it just poured into Aber's simple, yet complex, brain-case. "That sounds like a wonderful idea." She purred, once she was sure Doll was finished speaking. "I love to explore, it's the only way that paradise can be found!"
|
[/b] While she was sure Doll wouldn't understand what she was going on about, Aber's icy eyes were brimmed with hope and longing for knowledge. However, Aber was a bit skeptical about ever seeing this feline ever again. What was wrong with exsploring right now? The chilly day was just beginning! The white and ginger cat held her tongue on this issue, though, and instead spoke of other things that had been cooking up in her brain. "I'm very unfamiliar with the area," she began, sitting down again, this time closer to Doll then before. "Can you tell me a little bit more about this... Lexis Tribe?" Aberdeen asked, intuitive look on her face. She had heard of Tribes and such before, but she clueless to the hierarchy that when on in them. Or what they did. Aberdeen let out a deep breath, waiting for the sunlight cat to start talking again. Doll's attitude was like a cloud around her, a suffocating, happy, cloud. It was as if the roles were reversed, Aber's normal attitude of somber and nonsense was blocked by a cloud of friendly and go-lucky. And honestly, Aber didn't mind the change. -- occ; AHH! I'm so sorry for the wait! School has been sucking the life out of me! D: [/size][/blockquote][/blockquote][/color][/td][/tr][tr][td] [/td][/tr][/table][/center]
