Small twigs and dry leaves crunched underneath each delicate paw that the dingo pressed down in front of her. Branches stretched out and combed through her short sand colored fur as she made her way through the bushes. She clambered over large tree roots and and avoided sharp rocks that lay on her path. She was in the forest for pretty much the same reason any canine or feline came here. To find food. Billie hadn't eaten in a few days now and it was showing. He ribs were more prominent, her fur wasn't as bright as it was back in Australia and her body just felt weaker. The dingo held her snout low to the ground, eager to find something that would at least give her some nutritional value.
The female had been searching for at least half an hour now and still, she found nothing, not even a scent of something she could potentially eat. Billie just let out a deep, frustrated sigh. Her anger was building. She was naturally quite a bad tempered canine but on an empty stomach, she really wasn't someone you wanted to irritate. Her sigh ended on a quiet growl as her frustration continued to build. She wasn't getting anywhere on her own. Most animals would say it takes patience to find prey but Billie wasn't one for waiting. If she didn't catch a scent after a short while, she;d be off somewhere else to try and find something.
The two and a half year old finally gave up and took a seat against one of the hundreds of trees found in the forest. She released a second sigh from her throat, it too ending on a gentle growl. Right now, she really wasn't a calm and gentle canine. Her stomach continued to complain to her about lack of food and if she had to go another day or so with no food, she really wouldn't be in a good state to communicate with anyone. She could easily snap on a full stomach, who knows what could happen when she was starved.

Nothing. There was nothing, in the way of prey here in any case. The Akita x German Shepherd female could barely believe her nose, she had been hunting breakfast for the best part of half an hour and still she had no prize. Except out here, catching prey wasn't a prize, it was food. Zara sighed, it was as though all the hares, rabbits and squirrels in the vicinity were deliberately hiding from her, taunting her. The athletic bitch growled, her ears twitching for any sounds. Her acute senses picked up something to her right, the gnawing of a seed. But the footsteps were light and fast, a mouse. A mouse was too small to waste her energy and time on.
Hunger scraped at her stomach, and for a moment she questioned her actions. Should she have stayed with her mother and father, and the pack? Perhaps they had gone hunting and brought down a big juicy doe- no. That wouldn't of happened, and it was much better to go looking for food out here. In Tempest territory the prey was running low, even if it was spring. So here she was, her paws itching to dash through the long grass that led up to Puzzlewood Forest. But then, what hope would she have if she scared all the animals away with her pawsteps. The grey and white female shook head head, before moving on.
Upon entering the forest, she pressed her sensitive muzzle to the earth, desperate to pick something up. For a few moments, she sniffed around in silence. Still nothing, she sighed once more, this was becoming a habit of hers. Finally she found something, hare, a large one at that. Her hopes soared, and she fell into a crouch. For what she could hear and scent, the buck was about 10 metres away, the otherside of a large log. Steathily, the beautiful lithe female crept forward. She was careful not to step on any sticks, or rustling leaves.
She was just behind the fallen tree now, ready to pounce and attack with a hunger that would take no prisoners. One, two- someone sighed, finishing in a growl. The hare froze, lifting his proud head and Zara panicked. She leapt from behind the log, but it was too late and her impressive jaws clamped on empty air. The hare was gone, as fast as the wind. Snapping and snarling, the female coming up for two years old, whipped round to see just exactly who had lost her the best breakfast in days.
Her eyes landed upon a sandy brown canine, a dingo. She looked rather similar to Diablo, but he was someone Zara tended to avoid. Such an uptight temperement. Her fur bristling and on end, she glared at the dingo. "Do you mind!"

The dingo glanced around the area, her frustration continuing to build. She hadn't eaten for days and things were really getting to her. She felt weaker and she certainly looked it. Her fur was thinner and not as bright in color as it once was. She was still quite large but she was getting scrawny, her bones being more prominent than they should be. She constantly sniffed the air, hoping for something, even if just a tiny mouse, to pass in her direction. Nothing. The agitated and starving dingo was about to release another growl but she was stopped by a bark near by.
Billie immediately leaped to her paws and glanced around. She quickly spotted what had made the call. A smaller canine, quite obviously a female was glaring at her with flared nostrils and bristled fur. "Do you mind!" The smaller canine barked with obvious anger and frustration. Billie held her head low, her ears pointing forward and her tail high in the air, trying to imply that she wasn't in a good mood and she was up for a fight. "Listen mutt, I am not in a good mood right now so I suggest you be choose wisely what words come out of you mouth." The dingo responded with a deep snarl, her nostrils flaring. "And I'm pretty sure if I did something to piss off a dog, I'd know about it." She added in her strong Australian accent.
Billie was unsure of what she had done to disturb this female but she wasn't going to apologize either way. After observing the canine for a few moments, it became clear that this was a domestic dog, but what breed, Billie was uncertain. She was never good at identifying the exact breed of a dog but that was because she wasn't a dog herself. The dingo just continued to glare at this dog, her teeth bared.

ZARA TALKS ""
Zara's tail stuck straight up in the air, fluffed out and her hackles raised. Although the dingo would probably be heavier, she was smaller in height. Zara was taller and slimmer, built for speed and athleticism so in a fight-- hang on, Zara? What are you doing?! I'm not gonna fight nobody, not today. The shepherd x akita however wasn't happy about being called a mutt, "Don't call me a mutt." She growled in a low voice. "Well, then you're more stupid than I thought. You don't even know what you've done!" She snorted, and shook her head. This was stupid and pointless, this would not catch her next dinner. Sighing, the slender silver and ivory canine lowered her tail and relaxed her hackles.
Throwing another glance towards her company, she spoke in a low, somewhat defeated voice. She was losing energy, and something in her just couldn't be bothered to fight anymore. "Listen, I'm starving.. you'll probably already know this but food don't come around all too easy these days." She sighed once more, and sat down with a huff. Ears flattened wearily, a loud grumble sounded from her stomach and Zara blinked in embarrassment, glancing away.
The bitch looked at the dingo once more, she hadn't failed to notice the fact that she had a strong accent. Not from around here in any case, and Zara certainly couldn't scent any Tempest on her. Deciding to put their bad start behind them, the youngster let her curiousity take over. "So, where exactly are you from? Not Lexis I hope." She couldn't help but flash a brief grin at the dingo female.

Pearly white teeth were bared and the dingo just continued to glare at her opponent. She really wasn't in the mood to be harassed by some house pet. She was starving and she was never in a good mood on an empty stomach. Billie eyed up the domesticated female that stood in front of her. She couldn't place a breed on the dog, but then again, Billie wasn't a dog and didn't know much about dog breeds. The bitch was slightly taller than herself but she looked like she would be lighter and slightly slimmer.
"Don't call me a mutt." The dingo didn't respond to her comment, she just continued to glare at her. "Well, then you're more stupid than I thought. You don't even know what you've done!" A low pitched growl escaped the wild dog's throat and she instantly felt her paws and leg muscles tense up. Who was she to call her stupid? It's not her fault she didn't know what she'd done. Billie thought carefully about her words and what she should reply with but the dog in front of her beat her to it. "Listen, I'm starving.. you'll probably already know this but food don't come around all too easy these days." Of course Billie knew that, that's exactly the reason she came here in the first place. She was starving and if she didn't eat within the next day or two, she wouldn't have enough energy in her to stand anymore, let alone fight. "Yeah I know that." Billie spoke in a quiet tone as her body loosened up again. Tensions were going high at times such as this and any starving canine was never really in a good mood.
Lowering her rear to sit back down again, Billie noticed the female throw a few glances at her, curiosity in her eyes. "So, where exactly are you from? Not Lexis I hope." The dingo twitched her ears at that comment. And thought about it a few moments before responding. "Nah, I'm not Lexis, I'm not in any pack. I just go where I want, when I want." The dog's question reminded her of her life back in Australia and a gentle smile formed on her features. "I'm not even from Hexasol. I was born in Melbourne, Australia." She added slowly. She didn't usually tell an animal this on first greetings but she just felt she could tell the mixed breed dog in front of her. After all, she had plenty of fight in her and when a dog was that confident with words, they were usually honest and trustworthy words. Glancing back up away from her paws, she looked at the bitch again. "So what about you, where are you from?"

"Yeah I know that" The shepherd mix flicked her ears softly, and exhaled lightly. Life was hard on your own, she guessed. Sure, Zara had never been out across the world alone .. and there had never been times when she was by herself truly. Yet she understood what it meant to be lonely, she didn't have many proper friends other than her family and they hardly counted. Sure, she got on with others and cast a friendly figure amongst the pack.. but there was nobody she was truly close to other than her twin, Estelle. The pair were as thick as thieves, they knew eachother inside out but recently her sister had been playing with someone else. Talking to someone else, hanging out with him. A prick of envy and loss stirred deep within the bitch. Estelle was her precious sis, but she was growing up without her. Off she was with this.. this Ryu, and there was nothing she could do about it. It wasn't that Zara didn't want her sister to be happy, it was just that she missed her being around all the time. Life was changing around her.
Zara felt oddly vulnerable, after thinking about the distancing of her beloved sister, and she looked around awkwardly. Thankfully, the dingo had decided not to take a grudge and rip her apart. The akita cross gazed silently at the darker hued female, she was a loner then? Better than Lexis, she supposed. Australia? Where the flip was that.. Zara certainly wasn't sure! Oh well, it sounded nice. She replied instinctively, "Tempest born and bred, my father is the General in fact. My mother is merely a pack member, the same with my sister.." She smiled somewhat sentimentally, wagging her curled tail slightly. "I do love them, but .. family can get a little overbearing at times." She had no idea why she had just said that, perhaps it was the brusque yet honest manner of the dingo in front of her. There was nothing sly or deceptive either, which relieved her. There were far too many of those kind of dogs in the world already.

"Tempest born and bred, my father is the General in fact. My mother is merely a pack member, the same with my sister.." Billie's large ears twitched as the bitch in front of her spoke. A silent sigh escaped her throat. Family. That was something Billie hadn't thought about for a while. She didn't even know what had happened to her father and brother since she was taken away. She hoped they were each alright, they truly deserved to be. She just wished the humans hadn't got to them either.
Nodding her head slowly, Billie kept her golden eyes on the dog as she spoke about her family. "I do love them, but .. family can get a little overbearing at times." Billie's featured didn't move. She could only wish of being back home with her family. Oh what she would give to be back there right now. "Your lucky, at least you know where your family is." She spoke softly. "Or if they're even still alive..." The dingo added quietly.
Shaking the memories from her mind, Billie returned her gaze to the pale coated canine. "So would you mind if I asked your name?" She spoke slowly, her tail twitched slightly as she did so. She wanted to see how to bitch would respond before stating her own name. She watched the female with inquisitive golden eyes with her sensitive nose twitching occasionally as she breathed. She relaxed her muscles so her body wasn't so stiff and tight. She was slowly beginning to feel more comfortable around this female.

Zara twitched from where she sat, gazing quietly at the golden female. She seemed to have relaxed, and this had its own effect upon the gray and white canine. Her dark black eyes swept over the powerful dingo in front of her, she had come from such a long way (by the sound of it) and now she was here all alone. Now, Zara wasn't one to pity nor sympathize yet she couldn't help but feel for the bitch. She couldn't imagine being truly by herself, with no one to talk to except your prey. Her ear twitched when the canine spoke again, her voice was satured with sadness this time and it caught the akita mix off guard.
The female leaned forward slightly, her ears lowered. She inhaled a little, the dingo didn't know whether they were alive? That was terrible! She didn't break her gaze with the btich, but her eyes softened a little. Zara shook her head once, before speaking. "I won't say 'i'm sorry', because what will that do? It won't help you find them, it won't help you at all in fact.. but what I will say is don't give up hope. This life is full of miracles." She leant a quiet smile.
Now to this question, she was quite willing to answer. The female seemed to Zara like a genuine girl, and to give her name would neither harm her, to scar her. "I am Zara, and you might be..?"

The golden coated female kept her gaze on her paws as she waited for the gray and white dog to speak. Speaking about Australia reminded Billie of her past and a silent sigh escaped her lungs. She thought about her previous life a lot and it saddened her. Thankfully now though things had changed and she wasn't as upset about it anymore. Just knowing now that she wasn't the only dingo in Hexasol brought a smile to her face. The similar sandy eyes of Diablo flashed in her mind.
"I won't say 'I'm sorry', because what will that do? It won't help you find them, it won't help you at all in fact.. but what I will say is don't give up hope. This life is full of miracles." Billie's ears flickered and her eyes snapped up to look at the bitch. She was starting to like this female more and more as they spoke. Most canines would apologize and it would have no meaning but what she said was exactly right. Billie nodded her head slowly. "Thanks." She spoke softly.
"I am Zara, and you might be..?" Zara. That was an unusual name but the dingo liked it. "Billie." She added gently with a nod of the head. It was at that moment that a low groan came from the dingo's stomach and she sighed deeply. She hadn't eaten for a few days and she was starving. "So Zara, any chance you want a helping paw during your hunt? She asked with a small smile. Two heads were better than one and it might be fun having a hunting partner.

ZARA TALKS ""
Perhaps she wasn't going to clash as harshly with Billie as she had believed she would a few minutes ago. There was something so genuine and real about her, that Zara sensed from the moment she had relaxed a little. The silver and ivory bitch smiled softly when she thanked her, not that she had any need to.
Zara was suddenly drawn to the idea of losing her family again, her gut wrenched suddenly. Her twin sister wasn't as physically as she'd like to be, and despite the fact she hated being dependent on everyone it caused her parents to be five times more cautious with her. Any strenuous activity could push her over the edge. Zara's heart broke when she even thought about the dying light in Estelle's eyes whenever her body failed her, it killed her the silver and white sister. She sighed under her breath before Billie's voice distracted her.
"Ah, that would be perfect! Two noses are better than one right?" She grinned, and stood up. The bitch moved closer to the stockier dingo before letting her muzzle drop to the ground and sank into her hunting mode. After casting around for scents for about five minutes she picked up the scent of a small herd of deer. Yet the most exciting thing about this was the aroma of blood mixed with their fragrance.. It could only mean one thing. One of the doe's must be injured.
Zara looked back over her shoulder and flicked her curled tail ahead of her, attempting to silently attract Billie's attention.

Billie walks. Billie talks. Billie's thoughts.
The female mentally scolded herself after asking such a favor from this dog. The two had only just met and already she was asking for help hunting. Billie didn't need any help. She did perfectly well on her own and she certainly didn't need any little pet following her around. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. However, she was getting desperate. She hadn't eaten for a few days now and tensions were running high. Maybe a little help wouldn't hurt too bad.
"Ah, that would be perfect! Two noses are better than one right?" If Zara didn't cut off her thoughts, no doubt the dingo would have changed her mind and ran off. A gentle smile tugged at her features and her tail began to wag ever so slightly. Thank god she didn't let her mind run away with her thoughts. "Right." Was all she could manage to say. Billie hadn't really had much interaction with other canines since before the humans died, and she was still in the zoo. Even then she didn't really get along with the others. It wasn't Australia, it just wasn't home to her. Now she wasn't exactly sure how to proceed with social conventions so she would just have to figure it out and pull through. Maybe Zara could be the dog to help her and get her to trust others again.
Billie didn't spend much time in the forest. The plains were where she would call her Hexasol home. The dingo looked at the smaller canine, a subtle smile on her face. She was about to question the bitch, wondering if she knew any good spots but she was already scenting the area. A flick of the dog's tail was enough to beckon Billie forward. As she moved closer, she sniffed the air, catching the same scent Zara must have got. She glanced over at the female beside her and nodded her head.
