Prue had ventured out of the inner reaches of the city early that morning. She was becoming antsy milling around all the identical streets, with sad, identical creatures crawling through the slime. And being around so many creatures all the time bothered her. It made her paws itch. So, the black coated feline had taken the journey out to Avalon Lake, as a way to escape the same, dull faces that always seemed to be around her. She needed some time away from the big city. There was, however, one feline that she'd seen that wasn't like any of the others. Rumor. The ebony feline felt her mouth twitch slightly at the thought of his ridiculous antics.
The feline paused to glance around, making sure to keep her whits about her. It was always a mystery, what was out here. Maybe some kind of rabid raccoon, she giggled to herself. It was late in the afternoon, and somewhat chilly, but Prue's overgrown winter coat sufficed the need for shealter. The feline had been simply walking around, not really doing anything. Her paws crunched on the decaying leaves, crisp from the fall. The edge of water was a few feet away, however, the feline's view of the shore was obstructed by tangles of thorns and other shrubs.
Birds chattered from the tops of trees, calling to their families for whatever reason. Prue looked up, eyes searching thick tangles of branches for any flash of coloration that could hint at the birds' whereabouts. Prey was going to start becoming scarce, and the inky feline knew that stocking up now was a good idea. However, the feline spotted nothing that could be very useful as food, and continued on.
Soon, Prue came to a small break in the treeline with a large rock that jutted out over the face of the icy water. The feline halted, and took a look. Approaching the rock, Prue found very quickly that the rock was stable. She padded out onto it, coming out of the underbrush and into the open. The dark feline breathed in deeply, inhaling the scents of water, ice, wind, and countless other things. Prue glanced over the edge of the rock, tail lashing wildly. She turned her head sideways, peering at the water below. A very thin layer of ice covered the water near the shore, but further out it was still dark, churning water. She wasn't that high up, maybe a few feet, but when she attempted it, Prue found that she couldn't dab at the water with her paw.
Somewhat disappointed, Prue brought herself back up to her paws. Her tail moved slowly behind her, like a snake weaving back and forth. She stared out over the water, noticing tiny ripples in the water where fish bit tiny bugs off the water's surface. Prue wasn't aware that she was slowly drifting closer to the edge of the rock, as to get a better look at the fish. It was only when a fish lept full out of the water (WOAH.) and Prue excitedly started forward, that she realized that there was no more rock underneath her. The feline fell, screeching loudly as she did so. Wind blew up in her face as she scrambled in a last second panic.
Prue hit the ice hard, crashing right through the thin layer. Water rose into her nose, and her mouth, as she sunk into the shallow water. Instincts kicked in, and so did Prue's legs. She burst through the surface of the water, tiny ice islands forming where she pushed. "GAH. AH. W-w-wha..." The ebony feline squeaked, scrambling to make her way onto the shore. For a ghost, you're rather ungraceful, A tiny thought prodded her, but Prue's mind was in sensory overload. The reached the pebbly shore, soaking wet and confused. She coughed water, and sputtered to nobody in particular- "Whah... What was that?! That was dangerous!"
Prue's fur clung to her frame, and water dripped off her black fur. She shivered, and climbed the slope up to where she had been before, still a little confused as to what had happened. She reached the top of the bank, cold and wet and confused. The sun wouldn't set for a couple more hours, and Prue, becoming a bit more clear minded, decided that she should find a nice beam of sunlight to sit it, to warm up. But the black feline just stood there, shaking, near the base of the rock, feeling a lot like the frozen water she'd just fallen into.
-- ooc; LOL, Prue went herp derp.

Walking...walking...just walking. That was all Kairen did. Time trickled past, tender touches brushing his coat, but not his conscious mind. Sunlight hanging in the sky, casting warmth through the frigid air. He liked to stare into the beams, watching the dust particles swarling through the air, fighting for their place in the universe. It was like a dance - a cosmic dance. Kairen was only a spectator to these few. He wondered who was out there watching him in his dance for survival.
His eyes landed on a dance partner. A black feline, struggling in the icy depths. Her dance was rapid and moving quickly to the rapid beat of her frozen heart. His legs burst with speed, the cold wind burning his face as he raced against the cosmic dance trying to pull the feline under. Still, the universe would have to keep watching this girl's moves, for she had survived the plunge.
He watched her drag herself along the shore, pelt welt, clinging to the dancer's body. She'd try out, eventually. She wouldn't die, at least. He'd not even had an opportunity to save her. What was his dance? A boring two step, perhaps. Every now and then something interesting would show up. A jazz square. Of course, it was not always guaranteed to be a good jazz square. Often times it made him stumble, fumbling to regain his steps.
Kairen walked with a drag, now uninterested in the black cat ahead. She stood on the bank, looking confused and speaking to no one. Just another crazy, or just another normal. Whatever she was, she was just another one, and Kairen didn't care to have anymore.

Prue had been cold before, she bore the marks of deadly winters, but the shock of the water had different effects. The chill was to the bone. The black feline felt the shivers run through her spine, and realized she needed to move, instead of just standing there like a wet, dripping, idiot. It had always puzzled the ebony feline to why she still got hungry, cold, and hot. Wouldn't being dead stop those kind of living needs? Wouldn't it mean she was still alive? Prue shook these thoughts off with a little huff. Of course she was dead, there was no other explanation!
As Prue became more aware of her surroundings, she noted that she was not alone. A tom cat was trudging away from her, in a rather gloomy air. The inky feline tilted her head, somewhat perplexed. His fur was a mix of grey and beige, and Prue guessed he was some sort of Siamese-ish cat, even though he was turned away from her. Now, being herself, Prue wanted to call out to this stranger, but had nothing to say. What could she say?
The black feline had no idea what exactly she was going to say to the stranger, but something pulled her along, willing her to follow. Yellow eyes watched as the tom trudged off, and finally, Prue started to move. Stiffly, still racking with shivers and dripping wet, the black feline walked behind the tom, trying to be nonchalant. I was planning on going this way, anyhow, She thought to herself, knowing very well she was just making an excuse for why she was borderline stalking a strange cat in a strange place.
After just a few steps Prue realized she needed to get rid of all the water in her fur. What was that thing that dogs do...? Remembering quickly, the feline oriented herself and shook herself, hard. Perhaps a bit too hard, seeing as how the ebony feline nearly fell over herself. At least some of the water had come off. But that doesn't help with the cold, She though glumly, peering through the treetops to where sunlight criss-crossed through the branches. Prue remembered what she was doing, and trotted forward, trying to find where the tom had disappeared to.
She caught sight of him ahead, and Prue slowed down to match his pace, staying a good distance behind. She vaguely wondered what the tom would do. Would he acknowledge her at all? Mmm, perhaps. But at the current time, she was content with watching. And, uhm, stalking.

Read my mind! "Hear my voice!"
Just keep walking, Kai. Just. Keep. Walking, his thoughts persisted. Some nagging voice, God only knows where it came from, pushed him to stop his paws and turn around - to acknowledge the other feline presence in his wake. Still, he didn't stop. Kairen walked on for another minute, then another, and then another. The distance between himself and the banks of the lake grew larger with each step; the distance between him and his follower, however, held steady. Somewhere along the way, his pursuer fell back by the banks to . . . shake? Well, that seals it. No way am I stopping for a chat with her, he thought to himself, quite loudly, and with a nod to really make the point.
His pace quickened, only to be cut short in a faltering half step. Something wasn't quite right, and he didn't need his feline sense to realize it. His glance flickered to the treetops - unsure why, his gaze honed in on a branch just a few feet from the earth. Kairen refused to blink - lest his miss the tell. There you are. The thought drifted through his mind less than a second before an exaggerated looking canine leaped to he ground.
The canine (Kairen could never keep the variety of their species straight), was a strange looking thing, to be sure. It stood smaller than Kairen, and about as frightening as a box of wet matches. Those ears, just looking at the ovals - no, the dishes atop the dog's head were unlike any he had ever seen.
His eyes followed the dogs as it approached him. A wide smile on it's narrow muzzle, and a spring in it's step. He had the cleanest coat on any creature that Kairen had ever seen, completely perfect light tan covered almost every inch, save for a few detail areas which were either white, or a strange tangerine tone.
Still, Kairen brought his mind back to what mattered, and this dog's comical strut wasn't it. Kairen resumed walking, Why did I even stop? he snapped at his mind. No matter, walking would solve everything. Walking was life; life was walking; life had to be walked; the walk of life.
One eye on the canine, one eye on the treeline, Kairen kept up his slow pace, focusing on looking anything but interested in the other living creatures around him. Creatures . . . his pursuer! His head snapped over his shoulder, as he checked to see where she had gone. His eyes failed to land on her, but surely she couldn't be far behind? She would catch up, soon enough. He felt a slight knocking on his mind, grabbing his attention as his thoughts always did - Kairen, why do you care?

So, yeah, random NPC is random. Feel free to do whatever you want with it! I just thought the thread sort of needed something, since Kairen is so damn anti-social. /kicks But, um, yeah, it's a Fennec Fox, btw. Go buck wild with it! =D If I might make a suggestion; I think Kairen would rather like to save a damsel, at the moment. So, if you're down with roughing Prue up a bit, that would be fun. <3[/style][/style]
