Kobi walks. Kobi talks. Kobi's thoughts.
Golden flowers swayed gently in the Spring breeze, giving the place a serene and relaxed atmosphere. The young feline would come here often, finding it a fun place to run around and play. He would spend endless hours just chasing after fragile butterflies as they floated from flower to flower with pure elegance. The ground was soft so a small stumble would cause little or no pain; it was the perfect playground for a young cat like Kobi.
At this precise moment, he was crouched down with his belly rubbing the grass surface below him, attempting to stalk a small white butterfly with dark specks on it's wings that was hovering above a yellow flower. His slender tail flickered above the ground as he crawled, it was the only part of his body that was visible through the long grass. Kobi was only a small cat, even though he was almost fully grown at a year and a half. He was easily lost in this wide landscape that the canines and felines of Hexasol called a meadow. He placed soft paws in front of each other as he made his way through the blades of grass, slowly but surely making his towards the butterfly.
Kobi was now just inches away from the flower that had the butterfly's attention. There was nothing left for him to do, he just had to pounce. The Bengal cat took a deep breath as he prepared himself for the leap. He lifted his body slowly before leaning back on his rear limbs and bouncing forward. Being so unco-ordinated, Kobi had leaped over the tiny insect he was trying to catch and had landed in a heap on the grass. He let out a frustrated meow as he scrambled back to his paws. Kobi never was the best at stalking, or pouncing, or landing. Yes he was young but he really should be able to master these important skills at an early age. Maybe it was his ADHD that was letting him down. He had been made aware of his disorder from his mother. He knew that it would make things harder for him in later life but he should still be able to catch a stupid butterfly.
A soft sigh escaped his lungs. Kobi was an optimistic cat and was determined. He would simply try again until he got it right. All he had to do now was find another butterfly, or something else that was fun to chase.

Joy There were some places that just seemed calm by nature. Some places that just by passing by them made the troubled that weighed like stones against your shoulders melt away. This was one of those places. The buttercups swayed gently in the midday breeze. Spring was starting to settle now, making Joy more eager to venture out. The air smelled sweet. New. Fragrant with the aroma of flowers and new life. That was spring for you. A rosy pink nose twitched, whiskers quivering slightly at the ends. The silver tabby she-cat has her eyes shut firmly, and her nose was stuck in a bright golden flower. She inhaled and fought the urge to sneeze. It smelled so nice. How could anyone ever be unhappy on a day such as this? Joy's ear twitched, and the rustling sound of another creature reached her. Her silver head popped up, her muzzle coated in fine yellow powder. She giggled softly and shook her head, sending pollen cascading into the sky. Pale blue eyes blinked. She had looked up for a reason, right? She took a moment of hesitation before she remembered the noise she had heard. Joy craned her head up over the meadow's long grasses, searching for the creature who had rustled the vegetation. She did not see anything except a brown smudge, which she assumed to be a stick. She shrugged. Maybe I imagined it.The small tabby was about to move on to another flower when a flicker of movement caught her eye. She spun around eagerly to see a butterfly fluttering gently through the air. A low purring noise escaped her lips and she crouched down, gliding slowly, cautiously forward. She held her breath as the butterfly landed softly against a flower. Wait for it. Wait for it.Joy pounced. Her leap was clumsy, causing her to falter, and her heavy paws landed only moments too slow. The fragile insect escaped unharmed, and the silver tabby lay sprawled, dumbfounded, among the flowers. She smiled anyway. She looked funny, didn't she? Joy looked up and standing right there was the brown striped face of another cat. "Oh hi there!" She called eagerly. "Such a beautiful day, isn't it? The flowers are so pretty!" Her sentences came faster than usual in her excitement, and she scrambled up to her paws "My name is Joy, what's yours?" The she-cat's whiskers quivered, and the friendly yet oblivious smile never left her lips. ----- Words: 403 Muse: Blargh Notes: N/A :3

Kobi walks. Kobi talks. Kobi's thoughts.
A gentle rustling not too far away caused the small male's ears to twitch. He instantly lowered his body so he was crouching, not out of caution but out of playfulness. Whatever it was, Kobi wanted to chase it. He could only just make out a small pale figure through the field of grass and flowers. A cheeky grin formed itself on the male's features and he immediately felt his long slender tail begin to sway from side to side, almost wagging like a dog.
It was at that moment that the figure had launched it's way out from the taller grass and out in front of where Kobi sat. The young tom instantly sniffed up, taking in the smaller feline's scent. They were sprawled out with a clumsy yet playful expression written across their face, causing Kobi to giggle. Boy did that cat look funny. Just as the feline corrected itself, it became quite clear that this cat was a female. "Oh hi there! Such a beautiful day, isn't it? The flowers are so pretty!" She was right. It was a beautiful day. The birds were out and were singing sweet lullabies and the busy bees were drifting from flower to flower.
"My name is Joy, what's yours?" Kobi nodded his head in response. Joy. That was a nice name. It meant something though didn't it? Like, happiness or something? "Hi! Everybody calls me Kobi." The young Bengal tom cat replied with an equally large smile to what the female had plastered on her face. His tail swayed a steady pace behind him, twitching occasionally. "So what were you chasing, Joy?" Kobi asked with a tilt of the head. She must have been following something, otherwise why would she have launched herself through the meadow like that? Kobi was pleased to see another feline who appeared to be around his own age. It meant he now had someone to play with. His entire body screamed 'play with me' and by Joy's body language, she must have been feeling the same thing.

Joy Joy's pale blue eyes blinked earnestly at the face before her. The breeze, warm and comforting, gently ruffled the fur on her cheeks as she smiled warmly at the stranger. he seemed to be around the same age as her, though a bit larger. She had always been relatively small anyway. He seemed just as excited as her, beaming with smile that echoed her own. She had to admit it was not often that she found someone who returned her gaze as happily as he. Mostly she got annoyed glares and even disdainful sniffs. It felt ncie to have someone willing to be friendly for once. The flowers swayed gently in the breeze, golden petals reaching out toward the springtime sun. Joy's whiskers quivered excitedly, and her attention was drawn form the landscape to the tabby before her. "Hi! Everyone calls me Kobi!" The tomcat replied. Joy furrowed her brow slightly in concentration Kobi. Kobi. Kobi. She didn't want to forget his name. "So what were you chasing, Joy?" Kobi's head tilted slightly in curiosity as he spoke. Joy grinned again at the memory "A butterfly. And a pretty one too! But I must have missed it." She shrugged. The loss didn't really bother her. it was the game of stalking it that held all the benefits. The silver tabby blinked suddenly, and as if just realizing she was still sprawled ungraciously on the ground, scrambled up to her feet again. "So...Do you like to chase butterflies too?" The little she-cat mewed, shaking the grass from her fur. She couldn't describe it, but she liked the way he smiled at her. It made her feel important. Special, even. She could tell by the way he shifted that he wanted to play as much as she did. Joy's blue eyes flickered back and forth until they locked on an unsuspecting insect fluttering aimlessly in the springtime sky. "Let's see who can catch it first!" Her voice lowered slightly, almost to a loud whisper, and her tail lashed back and forth in anticipation. Without waiting for a reply she began to draw closer, making her awkward paw steps as quiet as possible against the soft meadow ground. --------- Words: 364 Muse: Dying Notes: N/A

Kobi walks. Kobi talks. Kobi's thoughts.
"A butterfly. And a pretty one too! But I must have missed it." The Bengal male watched intently, a playful and curious expression written across his features. A butterfly. That was exactly what he was chasing just moments ago! His tail swayed at a gentle place behind him, kind of like a dog. Joy liked chasing things too! The last time Kobi had been around a cat that liked to chase things was when he was with his sibling.
"So...Do you like to chase butterflies too?" Deep amber eyes blinked slowly, a grin forming on his lips. He nodded instantly and lifted his body. "I love chasing butterflies!" The one and a half year old tom cat mewed with excitement. "I like chasing pretty much anything to be honest." Kobi added with a playful grin. Finally he had found someone who enjoyed chasing things too. As he watched Joy in front of him, he could feel his paws digging in to the ground and playing with the grass - something he often did when he was sitting still. He was quite a fidgety cat who hated staying still.
It was at that moment that a moving figure caught his attention. It was an insect of some sort, drifting from flower to flower, oblivious to the two felines watching it intently. "Let's see who can catch it first!" That sentence was music to Kobi's ears. He immediately felt his body shift lower to the ground. He slowly inched closer to the insect as it landed on one flower not too far away. His paws pressed lightly in to the soft grass as he approached the insect. He could tell that Joy was beside him, moving at almost the same speed as he was. Just as he reached a few inches away from the unsuspecting bug, he looked at Joy and nodded his head, mouthing the words 'one two three'. Just as he finished his silent sentence, he leaned back on his rear legs and launched himself forward, wishing he would land on his target.

"I love chasing butterflies! I like chasing anything to be honest."
Joy's heart swelled with excitement when the tomcat replied. Being as oblivious as she was, she rarely ever noticed the rude intentions that others usually had when they replied to her foolish remarks, but even without the comparison this cat seemed so much more sincere than anyone else. The silver she-cat beamed "Me too! Me too! We should be best friends!" She purred. She had said it so many times that sometimes it felt like the words had lost their meaning. But this time she was sure. Joy's eyes widened and observed the tabby before her, and she couldn't help but wonder why everything he did looked so perfect in her mind. She shrugged. Perhaps this meant they were meant to be friends.
Joy tore her gaze form the other cat and continued on her search for the elusive creature known as the butterfly. The breeze was fresh on the she-cat's tongue as she let it fall ajar ever so slightly. She inhaled slowly, deliberately, but the energy that flowed through her muscles caused her breath to tremble. Her pale blue eyes were wide, curious, but focused. The fragile creature was sitting neatly against a flower, just a pounce away from Joy's awaiting grasp. She felt her face grow hot as the tomcat fell in step beside her. It must have been the heat of the challenge, she decided.
The butterfly's wings shifted gently. It was completely unaware of the two cats only mere inches from it. Joy smiled mischievously. Stupid, stupid creature. A flicker of movement adverted her gaze to Kobi, who nodded in her direction and mouthed the words "One. Two. Three." Just as the last motion left the feline's lips, Joy bunched up her muscles and sprung. The cat beside her lept as well, focused on the same target.
Joy's paws thudded against the ground, and she looked down to see if the creature was flattened beneath her paws. No such luck. She shook her head, still grinning, and called "Did you catch it? |

Kobi walks. Kobi talks. Kobi's thoughts.
"Me too! Me too! We should be best friends!" An eager grin beamed on the male's features. He was glad to here that. He'd never had a best friend before. Sure he had friends, but not a best friend. Already Kobi could see the two young cats getting along well. Pulling his gaze away from the silver she-cat, he focused entirely on his prey. The butterfly was so far unaware of the two cats presence and an eager grin formed on the male's lips. Soon the butterfly would be his.
Kobi was careful where he stepped, trying his best to make no noise when he placed his paw down. Finally, he leaned on his hind legs when he thought he was near enough, before lunging forward as hard as he could. He had launched himself shortly after Joy who had failed to catch the fragile creature. He closed his eyes mid-leap, wishing he would catch it. Instead, the butterfly had floated away shortly after Joy had launched and the young tom cat landed on the smaller female. His paws were on her back, along with his head and after realizing what he had done, he burst out laughing. "Sorry Joy!" He said between chuckles as he rolled off her back.
Pulling himself up, he watched as the delicate insect floated above the ground and high up in the sky. "So close." He mewed gently, no hint of disappointment in his voice. He was just happy to have a good time with a friend. Still full of excitement, the young male began to bounce around in the longer grass, his facial features beaming with activity and immaturity. His pale eyes never drifted away from the silver tabby as he moved. He now had a friend who loved to chase things and mess around just as much as he did.

The breeze tickled the she-cat's rosy pink nose, and her whiskers quivered restlessly. She was still outstretched in her pounced position, her paws against the ground. The grass came up and brushed her cheeks and prodded at her eyes. She squeezed her eyelids slightly, letting out a playful growl of irritation. The butterfly had escaped unharmed, and it spiraled, perhaps slightly fazed by the closeness of the encounter.
Joy opened her mouth again, when a heavy shape lunged forward, stumbling and landing heavily against her back. She was shoved against the soft grass, and the breath was knocked out of her chest. Winded, she hauled herself up, and turned to see the brown tabby lay sprawled beside her. "Sorry Joy!" The tomcat purred, his voice broken with peals of laughter.
The silver she-cat purred, a giggle bubbling up in her throat. "Ha ha silly! I beat you!" She grinned broadly, tilting her head to the side to convey her joking intentions. She followed Kobi's gaze to the butterfly as it wove between the trembling fronds of grass, and she heard him mew gently "So close." He did not seem wistful, nor did he seem particularly bothered by the loss. Joy wasn't either. She smiled apologetically "That was a good pounce though! Silly butterfly!" She nudged him playfully.
The little silver she-cat's breath was coming in gentle pants, and she finally plopped her haunches against the ground, sending up a shower of golden pollen into the air. Her nose twitched and she sneezed gently, giggling out loud. "Phew! That was fun--err--oh! I forgot to ask what your name was!" |
Her sky blue eyes widened and she stared at him eagerly, unaware that she had indeed already asked his name. "So, are you in any of the packs?" Joy wondered aloud, her gaze focusing intently on the tom. "The packs fight all the time. They can just be so unfriendly at times! I guess that's why I'm in Lexis." She purred, shifting positions as she spoke. "But I try not to get too involved. You gotta have fun while you still can, ya know?" She blinked at Kobi, her tail tip twitching.
Joy smiled at her new friend and pressed her back against the soil, laying there watching the buttercups twirl in the wind. She let one paw batter a stray tussock of grass, and she listened for the tomcat's reply. ------ Words: 396 Muse: Average Notes: I'm not that good with ideas xD

Kobi walks. Kobi talks. Kobi's thoughts.
"Ha ha silly! I beat you!" A playful mew escaped the tomcat's throat as he bounced around, his tail flickering excitedly behind him. "That was a good pounce though! Silly butterfly!" Feeling Joy nudge his side, Kobi felt a gentle purr. "Yeah, silly butterfly!" He mewed in agreement. The young feline's body was literally itching with playfulness and happiness. He hadn't been this active and this happy for a reasonably long time and it was fun to finally play with someone of his own age and who enjoyed the same things he did.
"Phew! That was fun--err--oh! I forgot to ask what your name was!" At this moment, the young Bengal male tilted his head to the side and stopped his childish bouncing. Didn't he just tell her his name? After all, he had learned Joy's and it was unlikely that he wouldn't have introduced himself at the same time. "I told you, remember? It's Kobi." He spoke in a curious yet slightly puzzled tone but the same playful grin plastered in his face.
"So, are you in any of the packs?" Kobi didn't want a second before shaking his small skull. "The packs fight all the time. They can just be so unfriendly at times! I guess that's why I'm in Lexis." The Bengal feline couldn't agree more with Joy. All the Tempest dogs and Iris cats ever seemed to was fight. He had been informed that there was a huge battle going on between the two but Kobi refused to get involved. "I'm not in any pack." He spoke quickly, without giving it a second thought. His parents were both loners so thats what he was raised and brought up as.
"But I try not to get too involved. You gotta have fun while you still can, ya know?" Kobi's lips raised, revealing his sharp fangs as he grinned. "I do know!" He mewed loudly with a little too much enthusiasm. Joy was right. All of the other animals out here seemed to grow up fast and didn't have fun. Thats why Kobi wanted to stay young forever, so he could play with his new friend and chase butterflies all day long.

The silver tabby's tail tip twitched gently, and her ears angled, focused on the feline speaking next to her. her eyes were wide, curious, intent on what his answers would be. Strangers intrigued her; the yearned to learn everything about this cat. Secrets did not exist to Joy. That was why perhaps so few got close to her. She wanted to know everything from the a life or death choice to a simple little thing such as what they had caught earlier that day.
"I told you, remember? It's Kobi." The tomcat replied to her question. His face was twisted slightly, confused, and Joy's face twisted as well, trying too remember an earlier introduction. She knew it made the most sense that he had introduced himself before, and yet she did not remember ever hearing his name. "That's a nice name!" She purred, her whiskers quivering as she did so. She hadn't heard that name before, had she? It bothered her that she could not recall it. She shrugged, her shoulders disheveling pollen from a nearby blossom. Oh well.
Joy continued asking questions, her face glued to Kobi's, smiling playfully. "I'm not in any pack." He answered without the slightest hesitation. Joy almost felt embarrassed that she had not known that, but instead her interest piqued. "Oh! That's so cool! But you must get so lonely! How do you do everything by yourself?" She mewed. She was a very social being, and obviously he was too, so the thought of him being alone struck her. She'd hate to have to fend for herself! And yet Kobi seemed fine with such a thing. Her mother had taught her that everyone was brought up different, so Joy decided that he was used to it.
"I do know!" The brown tom replied to her last remark, grinning from ear to ear. Joy squirmed from where she was laying on her back. "Really? Not many people do." She meowed, scrambling back up to her paws. The she-cat suddenly began to giggle, the sound increasing in volume as she continued. She was laughing, for some off reason. "We are so alike! That's so funny!" She chuckled, her fur fluffing up in her excitement. She shook herself and gave a goofy grin.
Joy's light blue eyes blinked in the sunlight as it grew more intense. She then jumped a bit, as if she had just thought of something, and drew herself up straighter, her rosy pink nose twitching slightly before she grew very still. She whispered to Kobi "Y'know, if you stand really still, sometimes a butterfly will land on you. They aren't the brightest things." Her whiskers trembled slightly with good humor. "Still thing you have what it takes to catch one?"

The young male's tail flickered playfully behind him as his eager yellow eyes watched the female in front of him. It was nice to be around someone who enjoyed the same things he did. "That's a nice name!" Kobi instantly grinned, a thanking mew escaped his jaw. He lifted his head slightly as she mentioned that, feeling a sense of pride in his name. Joy was a nice name too. It gave the impression she was always happy, and Kobi liked that. He had no idea what his own name meant.
"Oh! That's so cool! But you must get so lonely! How do you do everything by yourself?" Huh, Kobi had never thought about it like that before. He had never really considered himself lonely. He had always been happy to meet someone new and make new friends, but when he was alone, he seemed fine, didn't he? "I dunno really, I mean I don't like to brag or nothing but I'm a pretty good chaser so hunting is like, my natural talent." The cat boasted. At least that's what he liked to think. More often than not, a potential meal had escaped his grasp because of his lack of balance and coordination. But he could dream, couldn't he?
"Really? Not many people do. We are so alike! That's so funny!" Joy's excited mew brought a smile to Kobi's face. There really were alike in more ways than one. "I know, it's cool!" He mewed playfully as he bounced from side to side. "Y'know, if you stand really still, sometimes a butterfly will land on you. They aren't the brightest things." The change in Joy's tone maed the young male giggle. Everything seemed so much funnier in whisper. "Still thing you have what it takes to catch one?" A competitive grin formed on the feline's features. "Of course!" He mewed loudly, his eyes flaring with eagerness. He instantly began to scan the area, keeping an eye out for a butterfly so he could show Joy just how good he was.
