J E S T E R!
The dog descended from the soft morning light down the stairs and into the underground part of Hexasol. There were only a few times before when he had come down here to explore. The dark walls somehow peaked his interest, though. It was probably dangerous to be down here, but Jester didn’t care about the danger right now. The closed in walls, the echoes that beat off the walls and the frozen ground beneath his feet were the only things he wanted to be around right now…and maybe a foxy lady. The shepherd sure hoped that some friendly lady would be as daring as he, and come down here to explore the tunnels with him.
Those chances were considerably lower than they would be on a normal occasion. The nearly constant rain that fell was causing a lot of problems in the underground world. Pools of water were starting to form in the lowest places. Any day now a flood could happen above ground, so danger was naturally more present when you weren’t above ground. As the dog was thinking about this, his paw landed in a puddle and splashed water all over his front. Jester continued further forward and began to assume he was headed downwards; the puddles were getting bigger and closer together.
The dog stopped his walking and looked around him. There was no really noticeable spots of light, not even from the direction he came from. He had no idea how he got so far without realizing it. He just shrugged though, as kept moving forward. His eyes were already adjusted to the darkness, so while he was able to see all that well, he would be able to continue forward without running into any walls. As he took another step forward, his front paw slipped out from under him and he fell right onto his face in a puddle, covering his fur in the dirty water. Jester groaned as he stood up and shook his body trying to get out as much water as he could. “At least no one saw…” the shepherd grumbled, as he shook himself again.

She was running, not because she was in a hurry, but just for the feel of the morning air in her fur and the fun of watching the world rush by. Normally she wasn't much for running. Or walking. Actually Eowyn liked sleeping more than pretty much anything else these days, but once in a while.. The Shepherd slowed down suddenly and came to a halt. She'd been running down what seemed to be a half-overgrown sidewalk. It ended sharply in front of her and went down into a hole in the ground. This was interesting. Eowyn hadn't seen this before. This probably had something to do with the fact that she'd spent most of the last couple months hiding out in an old doghouse trying to stay out of the worst of the winter weather. She frowned at the dark hole, stared around herself at the sun and the bright clouds, and questioned why it was exactly that she had any urge to go down there. There was really no reason at all. And yet.. The dog sighed heavily. When an adventure presented itself one supposedly was supposed to take it. This seemed fairly adventurous to her. Hopefully there would be no rats, which she disliked, or wandering lions, which she didn't care for either. She took a last look around at the bright morning and headed down the stairs into the darkness, with some trepidation and much muttering to herself about doing stupid things for no reason. This, Eowyn was fairly certain, was definitely stupid. By the time she got to the bottom of the stairs it was already pitch black, and she was standing in a puddle of dirty water, and everything did indeed stink of rats and stray felines. Brilliant.
She glanced right and left, and then took the latter direction, heading along with her shoulder to the grimy wall to keep easier track of where she was going. She would be lucky not to get completely lost in here. The darkness seemed impenetrable, despite the fact that she ought to be getting used to the low light by now. Eowyn was pretty sure she could hear some bats or something. Also splashing noises up ahead. A rat most likely. Ick. Also, she noted to herself, there were probably snakes and spiders in here. Even more pleasant. The German Shepherd stopped for a moment, scowling at the near-dark and trying to persuade herself to keep moving. She could always turn around and go back, she supposed. All she had to do was follow the wall until she got to the stairwell again. Yes. That seemed safe enough. She shook her head once, turned slowly around, and started back the way she'd come. And then, all of a sudden, there was a dark shape ahead, tripping around in the dirty water, and the dog immediately froze and bared her teeth and snarled at whatever-it-was. And then stopped and blinked. Hmm. That person seemed somewhat familiar. Eowyn stared for a moment, trying to recall where she'd seen a vaguely handsome dog with shaggy and damp grey fur before. Ah. Wait. The castle. Yes. "Jester?"
