B E A R
The youngster often wandered from the pack's midst, out and about, his paws itching for adventure. It seemed like everyday was the same, nothing changed. The routine was simple, wake up, eat, chat with a few friends, tussle with a couple siblings and then get bossed around by the adults. Bear was bored, constantly. There was never anything interesting going on these days, or so it seemed. The adults spoke in hushed tones, muttering intently into each others ears fervently. It made his blood boil the way they treated him like a mewling newborn. At nearly a year old, the canine classed himself as a grown up, well almost anyway. Plus, nobody was telling him, Rech or Antigone where their older sister was. Estelle had been missing for ages now, too long and you could see the fear and pain etched across Nikita's and Hueso's faces. Still they tried to tell them that she was safe, staying with a friend somewhere out of Hexasol. Did they think he was a complete idiot. Zara was rarely around these days, the loss of her twin sister had had a severe impact upon her. Whenever she did show up, she appeared sullen and lost in thought.
So yes, Bear supposed he enjoyed these moments when he could slink off from all the annoying grown ups and find his own adventures. Of course he knew that his father would probably scold him when he returned, times were tense with all the trouble with Iris and such; he really shouldn't be wandering off alone at such a young age. Never mind, you only live once right, and today Bear was not going to waste his precious time sitting around in the asylum. He bounded up the cliff, reveling in the gusts of wind that buffeted around him, toying with his brindle pelt. He narrowed his eyes against sun that beat down upon him, gazing up at the azure cloudless sky. What a lovely day. Slowing to a halt, Bear immediately picked up the scent of a rabbit. His large ears pricked and he lowered his body instinctively, perhaps he would catch his first kill today! The pup crept along the ground, his tail quivering with excitement.. what a story he would be able to tell to his brother and sister now!

B E A R So there he was, his body low against the earth, trying desperately to remember all that his mother had taught him. Nikita excelled at hunting, and stalking game was one of her great pleasures in life. Bear understood where she was coming from, the sudden rush of adrenalin racing in your veins and the thrill of the chase with the wind in your fur was like no other. Unfortunately, Bear lacked his mother's patience. It was something he had not yet acquired in his short lifetime, waiting around wasn't really his kind of thing. No the brindle Akita mix would far rather bolt full speed ahead into any kind of situation regardless of the consequences that might ensue. So the fact that he would have to sit and bide his time while the prey moved within his range angered Bear, his annoyance displayed clearly in the way his tail twitched from side to side. He took one, two, three, four steps forward reaching a clump of heather and sinking lower behind it. There it was! Ah, he had been wrong. It was not the small grey rabbit but the larger, faster tawny hare. awesome, man! The pup could barely contain his bubbling anticipation, already he was creating and thinking through the story he would tell to Rech and Antigone. Oh how jealous they would be of him, finally he would have some proof of his many, wondrous talents.
Heck, the thought of catching the hare was making him impatient. The excitement rose in his throat, his heart beating ten to the dozen, he couldn't hold it still any longer.. a loud bark snapped from his jaws and he exploded from his cover. He'd gone too early, he'd never make it, already the large buck hare had begun to tear away from the slower, clumsier canine. Bear was a mess, he scrambled along as fast as his slender limbs would carry him whilst yelping, yapping and yowling like a cat on fire. It was only when the tawny bobbing tail disappeared from sight did the yearling come to a rasping, faltering halt. He flopped to the ground, his chest racked with piercing pains as he desperately dragged precious oxygen to his lungs. He lay flat out on his side, panting rapidly and he couldn't help but groan irritably. He still hadn't managed to catch anything, no matter how many times he practiced he just couldn't lie still! It was so frustrating. He sighed, laying his head on his paws and it was then that he saw her.
She was like an angel, a beautiful divine gift from heaven. Even from here Bear could see she was the most exquisite creature he had ever laid eyes on. The angel's bodice was graceful and lithe, with long athletic legs. Her fur was a radiant molten grey fused with dark tan and splashes of sparkling white across her chest, underbelly, face and legs. The brindle German Shepherd cross could not help himself, his jaw dropped and he sub-consciously rose to his paws. His brown eyes swirled with desire, bewilderment and longing to know this goddess. Bear didn't even think, his paws did the talking for him as he floated closer without even bothering to hide his complete attraction for her. A few metres away he came to a silent halt, drinking in the delicious view. And yet it was her eyes, above her sublime body, that drew him in, that made his heart pound like a trapped hummingbird. The blue was so startlingly bright, electric even and it sent shivers down his spine. The brown was a gorgeous hue, it reminded of honey.. his insides melted.
Bear could barely speak, for the first time in his life the dog was utterly speechless. Slowly he attempted to regain his lost senses.. "I- uhm, would yo-.. ahem, well uh.. There was an awkward pause, but suddenly the next words blurted from his mouth before he could even think. "you're in my dreams." WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT? He almost died, his heart sinking. Never before had he been tongue-tied and this was something else completely but really? Now she would think he was an absolute creeper from loserville. He sighed and slumped down on his haunches defeated.

"Talk"
Bear's tail thumped against the hard earth hastily, trying hard to hold that dual-toned gaze. Desperation flickered across his own gaze, fearful that the angel would simply up and leave after his outburst. I mean honestly what exactly had he been thinking? Then again, he was young. He didn't have any experience with girls, sure there were a few around his age in the pack but he didn't find any attractive. They were more playmates, friends, he saw them almost as an extended family. This mysterious lady was a different cup of tea entirely! She wasn't in Tempest, he could tell that from her scent and the fact that he didn't recognize her in the slightest. And so it hit him like a train, right in the stomach. All the air disappeared from his lungs and Bear could have sworn his heart missed a beat. Or two. She was an outsider, a potential threat to his pack, she could be a spy.. anything. The brindle yearling gulped slowly, frozen to the spot. What on earth was he supposed to do now? Drive her out.. no, how could he possibly lay a claw on this beautiful angel. Absolutely not that was out of the question, though he could picture the disappointment already in Hueso's face when he realized his son had let a traitor into the pack's midst. His eyes widened ever so slightly, glancing to the side now and therefore breaking her curious gaze. It felt as like he'd been looking at a wondrous guiding light and by breaking off eye contact he had plunged straight back into the darkness. Bear couldn't help himself. He took a sneak peek back up at her, at what could be his downfall. The brindle akita mix faced a dilemma; let her stay and enjoy her company or shun her from Tempest territory and impress his family. Bear gulped, why did he have to be the one to make this decision. His frantic, raging thoughts were interrupted by her soft, angelic voice. Butterflies thudded against his stomach, though her tones seemed to calm him slightly; soothe his frayed nerves. Her voice was light and airy, and it reminded him of crisp spring mornings by the riverside. It reminded him of the high call of the swallows and the way the breeze danced in the wind, Bear sighed softly. Her words however caught him off guard, and he took a moment to concentrate on his reply. That didn't really work out for him as his words rolled from his jaws like water, he really should work on censoring. "Because you are beautiful, did you not know?" Her question confused him slightly, he couldn't quite explain the sudden immediate rush of physical attraction he felt towards her. Bear could only describe it as a whirlwind of hormones pulsating through his veins, his heart seemed to beat in his throat and it was as if a great magnet was trying to pull him closer to her. Bear glanced down at his paws, before puffing out his chest. I suppose it was to try and convince her that he was not afraid, that he was not the coward he was terrified of becoming and no; he was not intimidated by her. Yet those eyes seemed to melt every cell in his body.. his tongue twisted violently around the words he desperately wished to say. "You- ah, you shouldn-" He couldn't do it, he couldn't tell her that she wasn't supposed to have set foot on their territory. Instead he tried a different tactic, "What's your name?" Oh yeah, we've got a Mr. Smooth over, a real lady's man. Bear hoped to hell that nobody from Tempest turned up and saw him chatting with what could be the enemy. done!
