”Hah, I knew it!” the foxhound male exclaimed with a nasty grin on his face, looking down on Antigone. ”It’s all in your mouth. Let this be your lesson; never mess with someone bigger than yourself ever again,” he growled at her and then chuckled. ”You should know your place, little girl.” He kicked her in her side with a hind paw and a huff of pain emerged from the black and white female’s throat. Even though it had been short, she felt sore pretty much everywhere. This was much more painful than any training lesson she’d gotten this far. ”That’s more like it” he continued, mocking her. ”You see, little girl. You think you’re tough, being the General’s daughter and all that, but you’re no better than others. Because you know what? You’re nothing but a pathetic, boasting, worthless little wh-”
The two year old male never got to end his sentence, because Antigone was over him right in the second he dared to call her those things. Tired and sore in her limps, the young juvenile somehow still found the strength to fight that stupid fleabag who had the nerve to call her pathetic, boasting, worthless… whore… She would make sure that he paid for it! Giving him several quick bites in the shoulders, the foxhound yelped in a mix of pain and surprise. Reaching for his neck, Antigone felt someone sinking his teeth into her own and threw her off her opponent. Flying through the air she saw a huge, black canine. She landed heavily on the floor with a huff and heard the big newcomer shouting. ”Act your age, both of you!” His voice was deep and seemed to echo inside her head and opening her eyes, Antigone easily recognized the black Gran Danois, Jackson, who had thrown her off the foxhound. He said something to the foxhound which she couldn’t hear and soon she was alone with Jackson’s, lean and muscular body towering above her. Still lying on the ground where she’d landed, Antigone refused to get eye contact with him. ”You should know better than to cause more trouble”
|
[/i] he said strictly with a growl, his deep voice still echoing in her mind. ”You listen to me now… I will- Antigone!”[/i] Finally eye contact. ”I will let you go this time. But one more thing, and I have to confront your parents again. Do you understand me? Do you… ANTIGONE!”[/i] ”Yes, I got it, okay? Geez, you don’t have to shout like that!” she yelled back and rose to stand on her four. Looking away from Jackson, Antigone quickly gathered what was left of her pride and left the dark creature to stand alone, looking after her. Walking out of the Asylum and toward the cemetery, Antigone walked unsteadily and laid down as soon as she came to a tree. Rain had just stopped so the ground was muddy everywhere. But she didn’t care if her coat got soaked in the slimy mass. She would rather be soaked in mud than the foxhound’s comments. Somehow the mud felt cleaner than his dirty words. He’d said bad things about her family, and she had tried to defend them by attacking him… but unfortunately she hadn’t been strong enough. He was a whole year older than her and had gotten much more training. So unfair… With an angry huff, Antigone laid down her head on her paws, now also making her throat and chin grow dirty with the wet ground. Her parents probably wouldn’t be happy with seeing her like this… but why would she care of that now? He had only heard the end of whatever was going on in that particular room. Before he even passed the door, he could hear sounds of a struggle and he saw a dog run in to stop it. Even though he probably shouldn't have been eavesdropping, he stood out of sight as he listened to, who Gus assumed to be the dog that ran in earlier, scold someone for being a troublemaker. He heard a female's voice shouting back at the dog, then Gus froze when a black and white female walked in front of him. He expected her to, maybe, glare at him or shout at him too but, she continued walking. Apparently she didn't notice him or he was ignored.
He watched the retreating form of the angry looking female. He was curious, what exactly happened? From what he could hear from the conversation, maybe she was bullying someone? He wasn't going to jump to conclusions though. He thought he could hear the two dogs talking when he started to follow the female's path out of the asylum. Sure, what was going on was, most likely, none of his business but, he couldn't help but be curious and wounder if he could help somehow. Gus worried about the well being of his pack, he wanted to be able to help with anything.
Gus found the female in the cemetery laying under a tree. And, because of the earlier rain, she was now soaked with mud. From how she looked he thought that maybe she was the victim in all of this, not the dog she was fighting with earlier. Slowly, he began to approach her, thinking of what to say to her. She might get angry with him if he mentioned him listening in earlier. He wanted to try and find out exactly what happened earlier. He stepped in front of her and looked down at her with an innocent expression on his face.
"Uh, hey. Are you alright? You don't look so good." Even if she would hate him just for asking, he had already sworn to stay loyal to the pack, even if the are dogs he couldn't stand and vice versa.

It took some time before she realized that someone was coming closer. The coyote was basically standing right in front of her before she really saw him. She looked up at him without lifting her head as he asked if she was alright. A little huff emerged from her throat. ”Why would you know?” she asked bitterly and turned her head away from him, not wanting to look into his pretty, brown eyes which matched his innocent, angel like face perfectly. ”I’m doing fine by myself…” she concluded dryly while looking to the side. What was he after? It wasn’t everyday someone came to hear and asked if she was alright. And who was he anyway? She wasn’t sure if she even recognized him. But wait… hadn’t she seen glimpses of him before? When she had walked out of the Asylum? Had he followed her? If so, why? The questions were building up inside her head as she scowled to a rock on the ground.
Her curiosity made her look at the coyote again, this time raising her head so you could see the dirt which clung to her white chin and chest. So charming she was. Narrowing her brown eyes she started to speak. ”But… who’s ask’n anyway?” she asked slowly, tilting her head suspiciously. Was he one of the foxhound’s friends? Someone who wanted to play a trick on her? She couldn’t help but being cautious with him – after all it was pretty rare someone outside her family were nice to her. Pff, why would she even care about that? It wasn’t her problem if others didn’t like her. They always misunderstood her when she wanted to play, always said nasty things about her, always provoking her on purpose, knowing she would defend herself by fighting back. She hated being the weak one. And now she was the weakling twice in a day, even within the same hour. Why hadn’t she gone to a more isolated place so that this… stranger, hadn’t found her? Hadn’t he gotten something better to do? Date a girl or two? He certainly looked like someone who could.

”Why would you know?”
"Well... you're." Was all he said before trailing off. He stopped himself before he mentioned her being muddy; it was raining a lot now, it was inevitable that a lot of cats and dogs would get dirty now. "You look angry, I can't help but be concerned." He said with a now concerned expression on his face when she looked away from him.
”I’m doing fine by myself…”
"All right, if you say so." She didn't seem to want his concern, pity or anything he had to offer her. Even though he was somewhat saddened by this, he would willingly accept it. He couldn't help but wounder why she didn't seem to want to talk to anyone, even a pack mate.
He stood there for a moment and looked at her. This female looked familiar now that he got a good look at her. He had seen her before, but he couldn't place where at the moment. A slightly confused expression appeared on his face and his head tilted slightly when the female looked at him.
”But… who’s ask’n anyway?”
"oh, right." He said with a smile and a light chuckle. Maybe he would be able to make a friend in the pack instead of acquaintances. "I'm still pretty new here. I'm Gusto. I'm a juvenile for now, but I'm training to be a soldier." He said while wagging his tail. Then he remembered where he had seen this female before.
"We've actually met before haven't we?" He said and tilted his head again. "Remember? At that big meeting?"
((^^ *hugs Gus*))

She perked her ears as he introduced himself. Gusto, huh? Not a name she remembered and perhaps with good reason since he said he was still new around here. She was a little surprised that he didn’t urge her to say what was wrong, but it was actually nice that he let her keep her secrets. She looked closer at his body when he said he wanted to become a soldier. Well, he wasn’t as stocky as her, but who said you needed to be that? He would probably make a fine soldier anyway and the pack also needed everyone they could get to be strong enough to win over the Iris Pride. ”I’m Antigone, and I want to become a solider as well,” she mumbled and sat up to feel less miserable. She actually had to admit that she felt a little better now when they were talking about something else. ”Maybe we’ll fight side by side one day - that would be cool,” she said, trying to sound nice for once.
When Gusto mentioned the meeting, Antigone frowned as she thought back to it. ”Oh,” she exclaimed as she finally remembered him. She’d bumped into him when she’d played with her littermate Bear. She’d been angry with him at first (typically her…) but then apologized when she’d realized he was from the pack. He had been fine with her behaviour and just left the meeting with Brooke. ”You know Brooke well?” she asked without thinking about it. She wasn’t really sure what Brooke thought about her. After all she was causing a lot of trouble from time to time and now when she was too old to be considered a pup, the adults were growing stricter with her. They said she needed to mature and learn her place in the pack. Pff, what did they know? Hopefully Gusto wasn’t as stupid as pretty much every one else seemed to be. Until now he seemed to be cool enough. He wasn’t irritating and his excitement somehow seemed to be genuine, so he probably wasn’t one of the foxhound’s stupid friends.

He continued to stand there with a goofy smile on his face and wagged his tail as Antigone introduced herself. She looked a little happier now than she was earlier, and that was good. He was still curious about what exactly happened earlier but, he wasn't the type to push someone for answers and, he would accept the fact that she didn't want to tell him. The least he could do was get her out of her bad mood.
”Maybe we’ll fight side by side one day - that would be cool,”
"That would be awesome." He said happily and he continued to rapidly wag his tail. "Just think: a year, or maybe even a few months from now, we could be known as the best soldiers in Tempest." He started to think that only recently. He would imagine himself as the fiercest warrior in the pack, and his name being well known within Iris as well. He would imagine that he would be so strong and cunning that the mention of his name would strike fear, or maybe even just worry, into even the largest cats in Iris.
”You know Brooke well?”
At this he continued to smile and, it would seem, he wagged his tail more rapidly. He even started to bounce a little in excitement. "Yeah. Even better, she's my mentor. How awesome is that? The coolest dog around is my teacher." He said in an equally excited tone of voice, making it obvious how much he admired the Tempest leader.
(just wanted to say, I kind of see him as a Brooke fanboy)

His happiness made her smile despite herself and she almost wanted to wag her own tail. Within a year she could be a great member of the Soldiers of the Bloody Paw. How awesome wouldn’t that be? It was definitely a dream of hers to become one of the best soldiers, one of those who others would be proud of and look up to, one of those who could help others to become great warriors as well. Oh yes, she would make the felines fear her! Her name would be known to the Iris pride, but instead of being full of pride of her, they would swell of fear by the mere thought of her! How awesome it would be to send chills down their spines with just the sound of her howl, or to be the subject of scary stories to the felines’ disgusting kittens. Watch out and do as your parents tell you, or the big Antigone will catch you! Yes, that would be great. And with Gusto at her side, she would just be even stronger, even better. Awesome!
”She is!?” she asked, her jaw almost dropping to the ground in disbelief. Gusto was now wild with excitement, even more than before, but Antigone wasn’t sure as to what she should feel anymore. Brooke was… great… Just not really to her. In Brooke’s eyes, she probably did pretty many things wrong. To adults in general, it just seemed like she couldn’t really do anything right. ”H-how can that be? Isn’t she strict? I mean… she’s our Mistress – I didn’t know she had time to give members private lessons.” She shook her head, trying to free herself from all the questions. ”I guess I just don’t know her very well,” she mumbled with a shrug, feeling a little stupid. She tried to avoid Brooke the best she could, fearing that the black dog would be mad at her for something she’d done. But her father was the General… if she really did something horrible, Brooke wouldn’t have any problems finding her.

He still had a smile on his face, but he was still now and his tail was still wagging, but more slowly now. Antigone seemed a little surprised at what he said about Brooke. He tilted his head slightly at her apparent confusion.
At first, his admiration for Brooke was only because she was the Tempest packs' Mistress. Then after learning a little more about her, his admiration grew. He only learned about the previous warden, Gravity. Gus learned about this wolf's escape from Iris territory and about his disappearance after that. From what the young coyote had heard, Brooke had a right to be angry with the previous warden in the past. If he hadn't been serous about eliminating the Iris pride, he had no business leading a pack with that goal.
”H-how can that be? Isn’t she strict? I mean… she’s our Mistress – I didn’t know she had time to give members private lessons.”
He tilted his head slightly as he looked down at the ground, lost in thought. "Well...I guess she's strict when she needs to be, but, she's really kind too. Recently, while I was out of the pack's territory, she taught me how to hunt." He looked back up at her. "She's our leader, so she's probably busy most of the time." His smile suddenly grew smaller as he remembered what Brooke said then."I think, if she thought someone wasn't needed, they probably wouldn't be here right now. If she thought that I was too weak to fight, I'd probably be wandering with other loners right now."
(sorry it's not very good)

Brooke being kind?! Antigone had to confess that she couldn’t imagine that. But now when she thought about it, the Mistress had puppies… right? Then she had to have a good side. But then again, one of her puppies, the blind Addia, wasn’t in the pack anymore, was she? She’d heard a little about the Warden and Mistress’ offspring, but it wasn’t much and Antigone had a hard time keeping it all in her child’s mind. There was a little too many things to think about at the same time, not something a child like her could handle just yet.
She just knew that Gusto seemed pretty excited about their leader, and since someone finally seemed to be nice to her, she wouldn’t want to step on his toes too much. Especially not when the subject was about Brooke. Because even though she was nothing but a puppy, Antigone knew that it was serious stuff to talk badly behind the Mistress’ back. When Gusto’s smile seemed to fade, the two coloured female wondered if she’d done something wrong. Tilting her own head she wondered what she should say, but couldn’t really come up with anything. It was then the young male spoke up. The words made Antigone feel like she had a lump in her throat. If someone isn’t needed, they won’t be here. The words echoed in her mind and made her dizzy. Did the pack need her? A puppy whom they all thought was a troublemaker? No one seemed to understand her, but everyone still seemed to be against her. Except for Gusto and her siblings. Would the pack think they wouldn’t need her when she became older? Would they throw her out? No, of course she wouldn’t be kicked out of the pack. She was the General’s daughter, they couldn’t do that to her. There was no way her parents would let her be dismissed from the pride… Suddenly Antigone didn’t feel very confident in herself anymore. Nor in her relationship with her parents. With all those dogs who’d been mad at them because of their unruly daughter, would they then stand up for her if Brooke herself chose to kick her out?
All wrapped up in her thoughts, Antigone backed a few steps. ”I think…” she mumbled, her voice suddenly disappearing. Getting words out from her parted lips felt impossible and she needed to gulp before she could speak again. ”I think I better go back… I’m probably in trouble and… I need to tell my parents my side of the story,” she said, her heart racing at the sudden thought of what the Grand Doris Jackson had told her parents. She bit her lip and turned, but stopped before she got anywhere, turning to look at Gusto again, her dark eyes soft for a change. ”You have been nice to me Gusto,” she said with a little smile. ”Thanks.” The little, simple word felt strange in her mouth. She said it so rarely, but now when it’d left her lips it actually felt… good.
She turned again and ran toward the Asylum, already feeling much better than before. No one would kick her out of the pack. Her siblings would help her, Gusto would help her. She would be all right with them by her side.
((OOC: Felt like this would be a good time to end it, unless there’s more you want to play out between them – then I can just edit the post a little. Feel free to make a reply, but unless there’s more you want to be played out between them right now, this is my last post with Antigone (: ))
