Speech.
She moved with her nose to the ground, her large bat-like ears forward and straining to pick up any sound that could filter through the white noise. It was quiet out here. Too quiet. So quiet that, unless you were concentrating on the sound of your own breathing, your ears would ring with a sharp pain. Somewhere in the distance, the clan of hyenas cackled a slow warning. Kayode raised her head to the familiar sound, curling her black lips over her teeth, and emitted her own sound of warning. Out here there were no rules. The earth was dry with permanent cracks scarring the ground, spreading out like stretch marks on a swollen pregnant belly. No matter how hard it rained in the city, this place's thirst would never be quenched. The ground would always be parched and the dirt would always be infertile and unable to sustain life more than the sage brush that grew in sparse patches. It was a difficult task to live here and an even more difficult task to enjoy it. Kayode could do both, and it wasn't difficult for her to see beauty hidden where others only saw desolation. The plains stirred in her something that she didn't quite understand; a certain feeling of safeness that felt strongly primitive and instinctual. If she lingered on it for too long, the feeling would dissipate, similar to the way the stars disappear when you stare at them for too long. If she didn't think, she could live out of the corner of her eye, and that was easier. She was, after all, a wild animal; different from the domesticated canines of the city. Those animals only thought that they were wild, but in reality, their genetic makeup was completely different. Their minds could scream wild, but their DNA still held onto their domestic lineage. Kayode couldn't relate.

"Talk"Paws battered the earth mindlessly as the brindle male blundered forward, he didn't care where he was going or why so long as he kept on running. Bear had to get away from Tempest territory, from the pack, from his family, even if it was just for a day. His whole life had been turned upside down in just a few days, and nothing would ever be the same. It had been a day like every other, except of course his mother had gone out on a secret mission, but apart from that there had been no difference. He and his siblings had woken to find both Hueso and Nikita gone, and though some of Tempest informed the trio that their dam had gone with Brooke on a mission, they could not inform them of where their father was. They had continued on throughout the day in a normal manner until they decided to venture out into the woods. That was when they had founded her body, ripped, bloodied and ugly. Their mother was dead, killed, gone forever. There were simply no words to justify this pain, this never ending aching agony that contorted his insides. Bear didn't know how to cope with this, it wasn't something he was used too. It also become clear later on that Nikita had died trying to rescue Estelle, but to no avail. Their sister had apparently been terribly injured and was still in the clutches of the enemy. Hatred coursed his veins like a poison, and the desire to tear a feline limb from limb was blinding. Skidding to a halt and letting the dust billow around his shaking frame in a cloud, he breathed hard and snarled wildly. It started off as a ferocious bitter howl but before he could stop himself, Bear felt the tears begin to roll down his skull and sobs started to wrack his body. This was his worst nightmare, breaking down where anybody could see him but despite his best efforts to stop, the cries just kept on coming. Standing in the desolate plains, the akita mix did not notice the wild dog that prowled nearby. Instead he crumpled to the sandy earth and buried his muzzle beneath his front paw, if he died today he would not care. He had lost so much, Zara had vanished, Estelle was on the brink of death under capture and his mother had been brutally murdered by Iris. Bear had never felt so defeated in his entire life, and so he merely crawled up and tried to push all the pain out. A tiny whisper sounded, so inaudible you would have to stand next to him to hear, "I love you Mum."[ ooc ; N'awh he is never like this, guess that's what happens when you lose one of the most important figures in you life D: ] | |
