As much as the young feline loved her mother, she couldn't depend on her forever. Tamera wanted to become strong, and she couldn't do that if she depended on the strength of others for the rest of her life. On one of those rare moments, when the sun was out and the weather was suitable enough for traveling, Tamera left the warmth and safety of the shopping arcade to wander the city.
She promised Vanessa that she would be safe, or at least return to the Amazons territory soon.
She slowly trekked trough the thick layers of snow, occasionally shaking when a chilly wind blew across her dark silvery coat. As another chilly breeze blew across her, Tamera took shelter in one particularly large building before she though she would freeze.
As soon as she walked in the door, her body shook in an attempt to warm herself. She walked further into the building and away from the door before stopping, sitting on her haunches and licking her fur. When she finished, she looked at her surroundings as she looked around. This building looked a lot bigger on the inside than the outside. From where she was sitting, she could see many old slot machines and tables sitting further away. Most of the lights had gone out, which gave the building a somewhat dim, eery feel to it.
Tamera stood up, looked left and right and sniffed around for the presence of others before slowly walking forward. She inspected the slot machines as she passed, jumping up on one of the seats and inspecting the machines as she passed.
Soon she came across a room with many tables; she walked into what used to be a restaurant. The only creatures that were using this place now were rodents. One of which, a rat, ran past her soon after she entered. Tamera chased after it, catching it before it could escape by running under one of the legs of a table. She quickly killed her prey before jumping on a nearby chair then table and eating her small meal.

Winter was a fabulous time. For the young canine, this had been her first snowfall and she found it magical. Snow was so exciting. It was light and fluffy, you could jump around in it, and you could eat it! It was hard for her to understand why everyone was huffing and complaining about it and trying to stay inside. The first opportunity she had, Maevin snuck out the asylum door, slipping and sliding her way into the city on the ice concealed beneath the snow. Mother and Father were arguing so much, they probably wouldn't even notice she was gone.
It wasn't until maybe half an hour into her adventure, wandering the lifeless streets, did she realise why other dog liked to stay out of the snow. Unlike her mother's, Maevin's thin short coat wasn't design for the cold weather and she found her paws becoming increasingly cold and numb as she walked. Dipping into the first building she came across, she was glad to get out of the cold. Though the building was old and lifeless, the walls kept out most of the bitter wind. The building itself had obviously once been a place of wealth and luxury, with a lavish spread of tables and games machines. Maevin took off at a trot, weaving through the rows of slot machines and gambits, eyes wide in awe of all the buttons and levers.
Her wanderings took her through to a room filled with strangle tables. They were big and round, with a sunken pit in the middle. With a bit of effort, she heaved herself onto one of the stools sitting around the table. "Oommfff", Mae huffed, her back legs twinging in pain as she climbed. It was interesting. Pawing at the table, she was surprised to see the table spin, a little white ball clatter against it as it spun round the roulette board. She'd have to remember to ask someone what it was called.
Reaching out to paw the ball, as soon as it touched her paw, the small ball rocketed from the pit, bouncing onto the floor and rolling away. "Come back!" Maevin barked, jumping off the stool. She landed with a thud before bounding off to chase the ball. The ball slid through a crack in the door, rolling beneath a table in the restaurant. Something caught her eye as she was about to follow the ball underneath the table cloth. "Hey you!"

She ate her meal slowly. Not so she could savor every bite, but because she was in no hurry to move from where she had chosen to temporarily rest. She chewed on the bones for a bit, sucking out the marrow before sitting on her haunches and cleaning herself.
She licked a paw and slowly slid it over her face, she was enjoying the silence that was soon broken by the sounds of shouting. She didn't start to panic a little until she heard the sounds of claws quickly approaching her general direction. Tamera stayed where she was, sitting in the center of one of the tables as she looked around, her ears turning to and fro to determine where the dog was coming from.
A small metal ball rolled into the restaurant first. She looked down at it curiously then turned her attention the the canine who ran in after it. Tamera's fur started to bristle when she caught the young canines' scent, Tempest. She supposed they were technically enemies since the Amazons were the Iris pride's allies, but this dog was much larger than the young Russian blue; there was no way she could fight back without the risk of being thrown around like a rag-doll.
She tried to keep a calm expression on her face when the dog noticed and addressed the feline. Though she doubted it, maybe she would get lucky and this dog could turn out to be a cat lover, or maybe not as aggressive as she thought Tempest to be.
"Yes?" She said with a calm tone as she sat on her haunches and looked down at the dog from the top of the table. She watched the dog warily, occasionally looking around for an easy exit.

Maevin eyed the cat wearily, no loner holding any interest in chasing the roulette ball and it disappeared far under the tables. When Tamera looked up and answered the dog, rather than running off immediately, Maevin got excited. Her tail began to beat back and forth wildly. This could be her chance! She could catch a cat and take it home. Her parents would be so proud of her. They were so angry lately and in the young dogs mind, maybe she could cheer them up if she brought the russian blue's body to them.
But she had to play it cool. Which was something of a challenge for the headstrong youngster, who was much better suited it seemed to jumping in with all four paws. Mae stared past the cat, counting the exits to the room including the one that she came in. There was a chance the cat could escape if it stayed up on the table tops, where her own hip problems would prevent her for climbing up. She'd have to lure the feline down some how. With her intention to lure the cat into a false sense of security, the beauceron-cross shuffled on her feet, trying to strike up a conversation. "What're you doing way out here? I thought cats didn't like going out in the cold?"
ooc. sorry it's so short, its the most I could get away with at work.

The dog seemed to be excited about something, the cat could see the dog's tail wagging wildly, which made the young feline even more nervous. Tamera stayed where she was, but this time she crouched down on her belly, watching the dog warily and preparing to run if she needed to.
The Russian blue found it strange that this dog hadn't tried to climb up the table to try and catch her by now. She looked healthy enough, maybe she was more friendly than her packmates? Tamera relaxed a little but stayed on the table on her belly.
"What're you doing way out here? I thought cats didn't like going out in the cold?"
She tilted her head when the dog choose to speak, in a way that Tamera actually didn't expect. "Not all cats hate the cold. Have you ever heard of snow leopards?" She said as she stretched her forelegs out in front of her. She had relaxed a little more now that the dog seemed to have no interest in trying to kill the young russian blue.
She was still watching the dog carefully but, Tamera was now a little more curious than wary. Why didn't the dog try to climb the table by now? Now that she thought about it, Tamera did notice the dog running rather oddly earlier. Maybe there was something wrong with this stranger?
"I planed on doing a little exploring. I'm still fairly new to this city." She spoke again in a calm tone. Tamera continued to look down at the dog, wary and curious. "My name is Tamera."

"No, I've never seen a snow leopard", Maevin replied, cocking her head with a look of curiosity. In reality, her knowledge of cats was very little. She'd been taught from a young age to hate cats and to kill them when she could. But to tell one cat from the other, she probably couldn't. As it stood, you had big cats and you had small cats. Explaining the finer points of difference between a Russian Blue and a Snow Leopard was beyond her.
"It's nice to meet you Tamera" Maevin answered, sounding a bit unsure of herelf. "My name's Maevin" she offered in return, trying to stay on good terms with the cat. The word 'exploring'i perked her interests and her ears. As she reclined, her tail wagged back and forth against the floor, with a faint swooshing noise. "I love exploring! I'm very good at it. I know all the secret places around here!" she exclaimed excitedly. While her parents were busy fighting, and her sister off more interested in boys than anything else, Maevin had taken to exploring. Sneaking out and adventuring all over the city. "I could show you, if you liked?"
