PERSONALITY |
Cairo is as gentle and sweet natured as he is small. What he lacks in size, he makes up for in heart. He is always careful with what he says and why; he always thinks before speaks to someone. With such big ears, he naturally makes a good listener, always willing to soak in the woes of others and help to overcome them. He takes everything in any given situation into account, so that anything he says or does is given as lightly as possible. Cairo is there to help, not hinder.
While he often tries his best to be helpful and caring, for those who he cares especially for, Cairo is known to be extra sweet. He'll gather hordes of small things, like shiny objects, flowers, berries, rocks, all with something in common with each other and present them. When he's not hanging around his special few, he's out trying to find things for his collections or grabbing something that means a lot to someone. Most everything he does is meant to make others happy, and is meant to hold more meaning to it than most suspect.
Becoming one of those 'special few', however, can take a bit of work. Cairo is incredibly jumpy. Loud noises, big creatures, and anything even mildly aggressive is sure to send him running. He is shy, often stumbling over his words when first meeting someone. He's terrified of thunderstorms and howling winds, large dogs and cats, and most birds, but if one shows him an ounce of kindness, he's willing to overcome his fears to befriend them. That is not to say he won't still be a bit flighty around them, but it's the thought that counts.
Yet whenever Cairo tries to get closer to someone, others find it difficult to hear him. Possessing a naturally soft voice, most things he says are not above a whisper. He hears himself well with such large ears, as well as many other things not meant to be heard, and so finds it odd that no one hears him. Cairo tries to not take it personally, but being so hard to see down on the ground and with the voice of a mouse, the fox is small in both ego and stature.
Cairo has incredibly low self-esteem. He doesn't think much of himself, and often assumes no one will think much of him either. Failure is no stranger to him, and Cairo often goes into things thinking he's going to fail. If he doesn't, it's a fluke. If he does, it can't be helped. Why did he bother trying at all? But he does continue to try, in the hopes that someone will praise him. He takes any criticism very hard, while any good news will be the only thing keeping him going when things get hard. Through tragedies, Cairo things back on the few good things he's accomplished, and uses the hope that he'll produce something like that again as a reason to go on.
Above all, Cairo tries to be helpful. He is selfless in that he thinks so little of himself that he does not care to do much for his own game. Rather, he wants to do things for others, using all his time to make the lives of those around him better. This can lead to him getting little sleep, no food, or wandering out in foul weather, but he does so happily. If you need something done, Cairo will volunteer without hesitation.• likes | shiny pebbles, collections, helping others

APPEARANCE |
As one of the world's smallest foxes, Cairo is tiny compared to most other animals. He stands at less than a foot tall, his height more ears than anything. His body is slender, but well furred. His tail is about as long as his body, and quite bushy, ending in a black tip. Having paws designed for the desert, Cairo's feet are dainty, if fuzzy. Thick tufts of fur between his toes give him an edge when walking over otherwise uncomfortable terrain. His head is small, with a short, sharp muzzle and two large brown eyes and topped with a pair of radar-dish ears. The most noticeable feature on his body, it isn't difficult to spot Cairo when looking around the ground.
Covered in a creamy, sandy colour, he blends in well with arid landscapes. Along his tail the colour turns a deeper sandy-red, as well as along the top of his head and two stark lines leading from his eyes. Almost like tear stains, these red stripes reduce glare from bright light.• height | 8"

HISTORY |
Cairo was born and raised in a vast expanse of grassland just outside of Hexasol. He was the second litter of his parents, his older siblings having never left the small series of tunnels and burrows they had dug out. Out of his litter, Cairo was the only survivor; the others having never taken a breath despite his mother's attempts at reviving them. As a result, Cairo was much more spoiled growing up than his siblings, leaving them to resent him.
He was bullied off and on by the older kits, but never when in the presence of his father. His mother cared for him dearly, while his father was quite distant. Cairo always tried to impress him, but was left disappointing. Nothing he ever did made his father happy, and his siblings constantly teased him for it. After turning a year old, his mother vanished after going out foraging. It was thought that a large owl had carried her off. It didn't take long for his siblings to turn on him, chasing him out while his father watched with disinterest. Cairo has wandered alone since then, only recently having reached Hexasol.
