This was a tragedy.
No.... this cannot be happening! THIS ISN'T HAPPENING!
It was a pleasant Spring morning. Toretto found himself sitting in some long grass, eyes wide and fangs bared. He was practically frothing at the mouth. And why was this? Because he had found a flower with five petals. EVERYBODY knew that if a flower had five petals, it was not symmetrical, therefore imperfect and unworthy of even existing.
"You are sickening."
He glared venomously at the plant, and swiped at it a few times, until one of the petals fell off. Yet, it still wasn't symmetrical. The longer he looked at the filthy plant, the more angry he felt. This was intolerable. How could this even exist? Eventually, he grew so angry he ripped the flower from it's roots and threw it to the side, before stomping on it repeatedly, screaming 'YOU DISGUST ME' at the top of his lungs. A dog that was walking by abruptly looked over, alarmed. When Toretto looked over, he squealed in a rather girlish fashion.
This was an awful situation.
The dog had a black patch over one eye, yet it was absent of one over the other eye. Not to mention the canine had brown fur covering his entire left side, yet only the flank of his right. His legs on the right side of his body were white, yet the legs on the left side were not. This wasn't right. "YOUU! YOU AREN'T SYMMETRICAL! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?!" The psychotic screams that came from the Shepherd mixes mouth startled the other dog to no end, so he turned on his heel and left abruptly, leaving a very shaken Toretto in his wake. Shuddering, the male whined pathetically, gnashing his teeth together. "The world is a cruel place. It wishes to torture me with it's blemishes and impurity."

It was the screaming that first work Amber from her peaceful daytime nap. And how could it not? The noise would have woken a hibernating grizzly bear. Even in her little secluded thicket the yelling was loud enough to put an ache in her sensitive ears. A smarter dog probably would have ignored all the commotion, brushed it off and went back to sleep, but Amberlyn’s insatiable curiosity lead her to leap out of the bushes and toward the source of the screams without first even brushing the leaves from her fur.
As she followed her ears, her mind began to race with all the possibilities of what had gotten the angry male this upset. She expected to find him arguing with his girlfriend or something; that’s usually what got most males all worked up, wasn’t it? What she didn’t expect to see was the dog flailing around over a tiny plant. Intrigued, she watched as he spat and stomped on the flower until its petals were crushed into dust.
Well, she thought crossly, there were better ways to vent than killing innocent blossoms. She was about to go tell him so when he wheeled around and started barking at a random passerby, screaming some gibberish she couldn't make sense of. At this point she came to the conclusion that the male had a serious problem. Maybe he had eaten something funny, or maybe he had some sort of sickness. She had seen him nearly foaming at the mouth before.
The Saluki approached him slowly and with caution, not wanting to ignite another angry outburst. “Spring has just arrived and already you’re killing the flowers? It looked so pretty too,” she said sadly, pawing gently at the remains of the blossom. She was silent after that, meeting his eyes and hoping he would explain what had him so upset, and not by going off on another screaming rant.

Taking a shaky breath, Toretto felt his chest tighten as he opened his eyes. He heard somebody approach, and he cringed. He wasn't a particular fan of company, usually because they thought he was weird, and decided to comment on that. An irritated sigh escaped his lips, because they didn't understand how he felt whenever he saw something that wasn't perfectly symmetrical. It made him feel sick, his chest tightened and his stomach did flips. His head spun and he just wanted to snap at everything in sight. As he looked up to see the female, he cocked his head to the side. She seemed to be apprehensive.
"You... You seem to be symmetrical. I must study you more closely to determine whether you are perfectly aligned in every way or not." Without another word, Toretto quickly approached the Saluki, not stopping until their noses were almost touching. He let his gaze flicker back and forth from her face to her body to her legs to her paws. After about three long moments of the Shepherd mix closely studying the pretty female, he took a few steps back and inhaled the cool air surrounding them, before he spoke again, his gaze a little softer. "I cannot seem to count your eyelashes, but everything else seems to be in order... You are acceptable." He planted his rump down on the ground, just in time to hear her speak.
"Why are you sad that I destroyed it?! It was not symmetrical, therefore I had to destroy it. In a world of imperfect things, it was merely one of the many things that plague me and cause me to feel such disarray and panic. I believe that it will return next Spring, as a symmetrical flower, so I may bask in it's beauty."
During his small speech, he begin to look away into the distance, a glazed look in his eye. But he quickly snapped out of his reviere and turned his attention back to the female before him.
"I am Toretto."

Amber’s brow furrowed in confusion. Without a doubt, him asking to ‘study’ her was the strangest request she had ever received, and she bristled when he got too close. “Um, pardon…” she murmured, but trailed off when she saw the intensity of his gaze. He didn’t look like he wanted to hurt her. He did, for whatever reason, seem to be genuinely concerned about her body.
When he was finished, she couldn’t help but shake her fur. Something about having his eyes wandering all over her made Amber feel uncomfortable. “Well, I’m glad you find me acceptable enough to talk to,” she replied, a hint of sass in her voice. For once she wasn’t smiling. The Shepherd mix was giving her a strange feeling, not quite fear, but an unnerving thought that this dog might not be entirely sane. The very back of her mind was telling her to get out of there as there was no predicting what he might do next, but there was sudden interest in learning more about the strange canine that kept her rooted to the spot.
She said nothing when offered his name. If he wanted hers, he could ask and she would oblige, but she was leery about giving anything away about herself to him just yet.
Again Amberlyn’s eyes were drawn back to the mutilated plant. “So is that what you do whenever you find something not to your liking? You destroy it? What if…” she paused, thinking of an example to use. “What if one of my ears was longer than the other. What would you do then?”
She was almost immediately sorry she had asked, knowing the answer most likely wouldn’t be a good one.

``Badeya Her eyes scanned the land thoroughly as she walked forward. She was unsure of what she would find in this land but she knew it couldn't be as bad as the stuff back home. Her nose of brown smelt the air as she continued on her way. Everything she saw she began to calculate. She calculated how far away everything was from her, where to run if she saw danger, where to go if she was hungry. It was habit to calculate everything. It kept her sane while she was all a lone, like right now. Her white coat seemed to shimmer lightly under the skies and her spots looked even darker than normal. She pricked her tattered ears at the sound of a bird but ignored it when she saw it was a small robin. It was useless to hunt robins. They had no meat. She continued, her mind calculating to keep her sane.
She felt weak and hungry but knew there was nothing important to eat here. She had come to a meadow to find something to eat but instead she found flower after flower! She loved flowers, all the pretty colours made her happy. She felt like a pup and forgot her hunger as she ran through the flowers. She closed her eyes, savouring the wind as it ran over her coat. She smiled and opened her eyes. She slid to a dead stop, almost doing a front flip in the process. Sitting in the field was a rather large dog. A dog! A friend! A creature to talk to!!!! Her mind was excited and she wagged her tail with overwhelming joy. She went to walk forward and then she heard him yell. She wanted to rush and help him but then she saw what he was yelling at. He was yelling at a flower calling it unsymmetrical. He then began to rip it apart. Badeya felt bad for the flower. Why would he tear apart something that is so beautiful and innocent? She was annoyed with him. It was a flower!
After he tore apart the flower she went to step forward but another dog did. A female by the scent. The female was beautiful and instantly De knew what breed she was. A Saluki, the most beautiful dogs De had ever seen. She watched the female and male converse. The male stood up and got very close to the females before sitting down and talking. He looked calm and collected now. De was confused, what was with males? It was then that De felt safe enough to walk over. Now she had a chance to make two friends! She hadn't talked to anyone in so long so talking to anyone, even that crazy male, would be nice. She walked forward carefully, avoiding as many flowers as she could. She sat a few feet from the other dogs and wagged her tail merrily. Friends. She heard the words of the male as he explained why he had killed the flower. Completely crazy. De thought about males and how they were all insane. Must be genetics. De spoke after the male introduced himself. Hello there! De said happily. Hello Toretto. My name is Badeya. Just call me De. She went silent for a second as she arranged her next sentence. So you tore apart the flower because it wasn't symmetrical? She had to figure out why he did that.

He looked calmly over at the other female, his dark amber eyes studying her face intently. He could tell she was just growing more and more annoyed by the second. Toretto sighed. It was just because of his obsessive nature, that's all. That's what got most people riled up when they met him. Ah well, she could think whatever she liked about him, it's just the way he was. "I am glad also. You seem to be an intelligent female." He cocked a small smile at her - whether or not it was a smug smirk could be left for her to decide - and he sighed again, rolling his shoulders back and forth.
And that's when she questioned his 'method' of getting rid of symmetrical things. He felt his chest sting and tighten up slightly, and he took a deep breath, before abruptly rising to his paws, shifting his weight from one paw to the other. "I-I simply did it because there w-was no other way. Of c-course, I have different m-methods with d-dogs and cats that aren't s-symmetrical. I simply t-try to block it out, or avoid them, f-for I don't like fighting." He looked down at the mushy pulp that used to be a flower, and sighed, feeling slightly guilty about what he had done. His obsession had affected his actions, yet again. He couldn't help it though. Abruptly turning back to Amberlynn, he blinked. "But your ears are fine." He planted his rump down onto the ground once more, just as another female approached.
She was a German Pointer, and quite pretty at that, just like the Saluki before him was. As she got closer, he could tell that she looked symmetrical aswell, yet this time he didn't get closer to observe if this was actually the case, he was simply frozen to the spot, shivering slightly. He felt himself grow increasingly stressed, and when she introduced herself, he simply nodded and responded in a quick and throaty whisper. "Greetings. I destroyed the flower, not only because it wasn't symmetrical, but also because.... I... I am ill. V-Very ill." He blurted out, eyes still wide. He plopped down on the grass and rocked back and forth slightly, his lip trembling slightly.
Oh dear.

Taking a small step back, the Saluki watched with an open mouth as he began explaining himself, feeling her body begin to calm as he stuttered and fidgeted. It was almost sad to see him like this, even as odd and disturbing as his previous behavior was. When he pointed out her ears not being defective, Amber giggled a bit.
"I know they're fine -- it was just an example. But it doesn't matter because I can tell you really wouldn't hurt anyone." She said this confidently as the smile slowly crept back on to her face. Sitting up straighter, she cocked her head at him. "Still, it wasn't nice the way you screamed at that dog before. You should really learn to control yourself."
Amberlyn let out a sigh, not of frustration, but of confusion. She wanted to understand him so that she could find a way to help him, but these sorts of problems were beyond her. She didn't know why he was like this or if it could even be helped at all. Yet she was willing to try anyway.
Her head turned as his did when a new dog appeared before them, and she greeted the female with a short thump of her tail. "Hi, Badeya. Pleasure to meet you. I suppose you heard all the commotion too?" Again she giggled quietly.
Immediately Amber was back on her feet when Toretto suddenly collapsed. Her heart began to race and she rushed over to his side. "Oh, oh my gosh...just...just hang on, I think I know how to help you." She forced herself to calm down, to get her act together and think rationally. The Saluki knew plenty about how to care for the sick. She could handle this. Looking around, her eyes scanned the area before turning to Badeya.
"Could you please watch over him a minute? I'm going to see if I can find some healing herbs. I'm sure there must be some nearby I could use." The area around the meadow was well forested. Amberlyn was confident she would be able to find something to at least help him sleep the sickness off.

A beautiful early spring morning had reared it's head onto the Lexis territory, spreading it's warm rays as if it was hugging the earth. The suns face had not peeked over the horizon just yet so it was a bit dark, a curvaceous silhouette could be seen slipping out through a dense forest of trees. The sound of hefty paws thudded against the ground as the female came into the light. Natural beauty, a feminine frame completely covered with a white pelt. Inside her eye sockets laid two piercing blue balls, full of curiosity and excitement. She was known as Delilah, a mature Kuvasz with a courageous heart. A light breeze tousled her medium length coat as she stared off into the distance, blue eyes piercing the early morning sky. White paws carried her towards the edge of a hill, a small grin slowly ran across her lips as she stared out into the distance. The country, so beautiful, so free and untamed. As her blue eyes scanned down the hill she noticed how high the grass came up, a thrill began to rush through her veins as the female dashed down the hill. Her speed was astonishing, but her balance was a little off as she almost fell a few times, but she continued until the white female made it toward the middle of the field. The grasses blew lightly against her white chin, a small laugh of excitement escaped her thick throat. ' There's nothing more beautiful The kuvasz stated softly. Her voice was light and bell toned, covered with femininity and a sweet tune. This moment reminded her somehow of an old dream she used to have as a pup, how she run through and endless field; and how her parents would somehow run past her then vanish before Delilah could reach them. It was a sad dream, that would sometimes turn into a nightmare-
The female shook her head rapidly, she had begun to day dream. Delilah refused to think of her parents anymore, she didn't need them. And the sure didn't need her, Delilah sighed. She could still hear the insults her mother used to throw at her and how her father would attack her or her mother for no reason. Delilah sighed but what knocked her out of her day dream was a strong scent that had delicately rubbed across her black nostrils. Lifting her head, Delilah took in a few long whiffs. She could smell others, the scent seemed to be coming from the meadow. Blue eyes looked on into the distance, she could see the meadow. Griping the ground with her claws she took off in a burst of speed. Dirt had been thrown up from her paws as she ran, the meadow grew closer and closer as she approached it. Finally reaching the meadow she peered down at the other canines, with a soft bark she slowly made her way down toward the others. Delilah was feeling oddly friendly today, she stepped closer to the small ground. Her eyes had a sincere look to them as she stopped a few feet away.
' Good Morning....' The Kuvasz spoke softly.

De watched the male fall to the ground and begin to rock. Her mind raced and she felt like whimpering. Now you won't have a friend! She felt bad and sorrow racked her eyes. She hid it from the others as the Saluki before asking De to watch the dog. De nodded and looked at the Saluki as she ran off to find herbs. De looked back at the male and felt like crying. I am sorry. I did not mean to scare you or upset you. Her thoughts ran fluently as she began to calm. She knew she should find hersb but she knew if she left the dog something bad could happen. She looked around carefully and noticed everything around her. Soon her mind began to calculate things. She let a sigh escape her. She was really frustrated with this whole thing! She didn't mind being intelligent, she just didn't want to calculate 24/7. She swore her dreams were calculations too.
De looked at the boy and gently poked him with her paw. She just wanted to please everyone. She had to, it was who she was. Please be ok. I didn't mean to upset you. Tears streaked her face as she watched the male. I'm sorry/ I'm sorry. Her mind repeated it slowly as she looked at him. Why had she screwed up? She looked around for the beautiful Saluki but she was nowhere to be found. Tears stained the face of De as they dried in the sun. Everything seemed wrong now. The sun seemed too hot, the meadow too grassy, the flowers too colourful, and De too stupid. She nudged the male with her nose, trying to get him up. Maybe if he stood up everything would be ok. De thought she heard the Saluki but she didn't. Her ears were deceiving her now. Her mind was playing tricks.
Saluki? De didn't know the female's name so she had to call her by her breed. The male seemed to be getting worse and she knew he needed help. A bellow escaped De's muzzle as she called for the other female. He wasn't improving at all.

When De nodded, Amber gave her a kind tail wag before sprinting off toward the trees. She had a vague idea of what to look for -- a dark colored moss that she knew would alleviate the pain that came with the illness. And if she failed to find that, a sleeping remedy would just have to do.
Thinking back, she probably should have asked him what symptoms he was having before running off for a medicine so quickly. As usual she was too impulsive. Did his obsessive behavior trigger the sudden illness, or was the behavior being caused by the illness? She wished she was more knowledgeable when it came to these things.
After about twenty minutes of sniffing around searching for the right plant, Amberlyn finally found what she thought she was looking for. On a decaying log there was some black fungus that looked similar to the stuff she used to feed her sick mother. She couldn't be sure if it was the same stuff or not, but there wasn't time to look around anymore. Already she had been gone for far too long; she could only hope the other female was keeping Toretto calm in the meantime.
Taking a piece of the moss between her teeth, Amber made her way back through the woods based on the scent trail she had been leaving. As she neared the meadow, she could hear Badeya's frantic whimpers and was ashamed it had taken her so long to find the stuff. Poor Toretto was probably in so much pain...
Amber was panting as she neared the two. "Thanks, De. I'm so sorry for the wait. Do you think you could nudge his head up for me?" She was visibly shaking from anxiety as she looked at the sorry state the Shepherd mix was in. The one hope she had was her decent skills as a medicine dog would prove themselves useful.
Being so wrapped up in the fiasco, she hadn't noticed the third female standing close by until the Kuvasz spoke up. "Oh, um, hello there. Could you assist us too, please? He's very ill you see, and..." Amber couldn't finish her sentence, her throat was so dry with nervousness.

As he flitted in and out of conscienceness, he groaned softly. He wanted to stand up, and open his eyes, he really did. But there was something weighing him down, pressing on his back and shoulders, causing his chest to tighten as it always did, and his head began spinning. His eyes parted slightly and he managed to catch a glimpse of Amberlynn dashing off to go and get something, and he could hear the faint whimpers of De from above him. He wanted to call out to them both, but he was so weak, he just slipped back into unconsciousness again.
He thrashed around in his subconscious, yet it was obvious that his body wasn't actually moving. He was so tired though. His head hurt, his eyes hurt, his chest hurt. He suddenly felt so weak, and panicky. Was this an anxiety attack? Toretto was scared. He felt like all the air was suddenly being pushed from him. Suddenly, in a moment of sheer terror, he snapped out of his sleep-like state and his head bolt upright, eyes wide and scanning the area. He soon realized that a third female had arrived, and the Saluki mix had reappeared, walking towards them with something in her teeth. He blocked out all the voices as he spoke, rambling and spluttering. "I-I'm awake!! I-I'm okay, I'm f-fine. I just h-have to s-sleep and b-b-breathe."
He whined and fidgeted about, staring at his front paws and counting the nails on each paw, noting that they were symmetrical and even to one another. Breathing calmly, he closed his eyes, his body still shaking but he felt somewhat better now. Slowly, he reopened them to look over at the new female who had just appeared. "I apologise for t-that, M-Miss. I am T-Toretto." He exhaled shakily, before looking up at Amberlynn questioningly. "A-And that reminds me. I s-still don't know your name."

Delilah was greeted quickly before the two other females had asked her to help. Help with what exactly? She thought quietly. As she stepped forward she noticed a male on the floor, thrashing and shaking. This female was disgusted by the sight, her schizophrenic mother was this way constantly. A pain grew in her stomach as she pictured her mother crying out and thrashing around on the floor. Then sympathy crept into this females thoughts as she suddenly felt bad for him, and she stepped forward. Delilah carefully stepped past the two females carefully. ' I'm Delilah ' She muttered to the females before stepping in front of the male. Delilah shuddered a bit as she could see her mother laying on the ground now, screaming out words that didn't make sense, or yelling that something was biting her. Before taking in a few deep breaths, she lowered her white body beside his. Her white tail twitched back and forth as she looked over towards his shaking body. ' I need you to calm down. Breathe hun ' Her voice was soothing like a motherly figure. She layed her paw on his back gently, hoping this would calm him down a bit.
"I apologize for t-that, M-Miss. I am T-Toretto."
Delilah smiled warmly at him, ' It's okay, Toretto...I'm Delilah and it's a pleasure to meet you...Are you feeling better now?' She questioned softly before rising to her feet, then gently nosing his back as a gesture for him to get up. Blue eyes raised to look over at the females, she flashed them a sincere smile before turning her attention the male who had been in need of some assistance. Delilah was kindhearted and though she didn't like to see dogs in this state, she'd rather die then see someone in need of help. Her heart felt light at that moment, as she smiled down at the ill male and back at the females. ' What are your names?' She asked with enthusiasm. Her thick white tail coiled around her body and twitched a bit with a fond happiness. She wanted to ask them how the male had gotten this way but she waited, for him to tell his own story rather then her sticking her nose into his personal business.

De watched closely as he was given the odd coloured moss. At that point the male seemed to calm down. She sighed softly, a relaxing mood overtaking her. She thought he was going to die for sure and it would have been all her fault. She would have felt horrible forever. ut of habit she looked over her shoulder and the empty land behind her and sighed. No male dog was there, no lying dog to tell her that he was her dad. Her attention turned back as she heard Toretto and Delilah speak. She looked and smiled at them before Delilah asked her name. My name is Badeya. Everyone calls me De. She wrapped her tail around her paws and noticed how much bigger all the dogs around her were. Suddenly she felt like she was with her brothers. They were all much taller and bigger than De was ever going to be.
Her eyes searched around the area as she listened to the other dogs speak. Her ears seemed to block out all the sound as her mind calculated how far away a bird was. She shook her head and paid attention to the dogs, or tried to, as she tried to pause her thoughts. A branch snapped in the woods and instantly De was standing up, ready to run. It was another habit of hers. You hear a sound and must expect it to be anything. She looked to the forest but saw nothing. It was only the dogs in the clearing. She sighed, she must be going insane. She sat down, hoping the dogs hadn't noticed how quickly she moved. She wrapped her tail around her once more and smiled at the othrs. Sorry. Is all that managed to escape her mouth as she thought of what to say next. Words seemed to escape her as she sat there in the new silence that had been created.
She watched the male as he asked the Saluki her name. De was curious as to what her name was but she wasn't sure she should ask. She gave in to her curious side and asked. What is your name? De said curiously while looking at the Saluki. Surely her name would be as beautiful as she was. Birds flew happily overhead as a soft breeze made the flowers move. De expected the male, Toretto, to get up and destroy some more innocent flowers but he didn't seem to be moving at all. Yet.

Amber sat in a half-crouch beside Toretto, leaning down so she could make out what he was saying beneath all of the sputtering and nervous babble he was making. "So, you think you're alright? You don't need the medicine?" she asked him softly, somewhat confused. She glanced to the other females for help, hoping they would understand his needs better and tell her what to do for him.
Placing the moss beside her paws, Amber gave Delilah space as the white female made her way over to him. Wondering what she would do, the Saluki watched in wonder as she placed her paws on his back and murmured soothing words into his ear. It seemed to have an instant effect on him as his breathing returned to normal. Delilah seemed to have a special touch and Amberlyn could only give the Kuvasz an admiring smile.
When she looked back to Toretto, she saw he was looking at her. For that matter, both females were gazing questioningly at her too. Feeling sheepish for not having told any of them her name yet, she lowered her head in embarrassment. "My name is Amberlyn, but feel free to call me Amber. It really is great to meet you all, I'm just sorry it had to be under these circumstances."
She chuckled good-naturedly and again turned to the male, narrowing her eyes as she looked him over. His legs were still trembling and she could tell he still wasn't feeling like himself. "Would you like us to leave you alone for a bit?" She recalled what he had said about needing to sleep, and it would be difficult to rest with the three of them crowing around him like this.

Tiredly, the young male looked at Delilah, his dark amber orbs meeting with her soft brown ones, and as she uttered her name, he made a note of it, as he had done with Badeya's earlier. Nodding slowly, he blinked a few times, trying to clear his head of what had just happened. Wait... what had happened? He hadn't had an episode like that since he was a pup. Shaking away thoughts of his childhood, he cleared his throat weakly and spoke. "Yes... I feel somewhat better now." He sighed softly and squeezed his eyes tight shut, forcing his jaws open in a yawn, ducking his head down as he did so. The white fluffy female rose to his paws, and nudged him to get up also. Reluctantly, he stood, feeling a little shaky.
When Badeya uttered an apology, Toretto turned to her and blinked. "You don't need to apologise." He smiled slightly, hoping to reassure her. He felt a little better now anyway, his chest had loosened slightly and his head was beginning to clear. But his stomach still felt woozy, and his throat was still a little tight, so he was still feeling the effects of the anxiety attack he'd just suffered. Maybe the medicine Amberlyn had brought back would be a good idea. So when she spoke, asking him if he wanted the medicine still, he nodded feverently. "Well, I'm sure the medicine will help me..." He trailed off and ducked down to swallow the substance whole. It tasted vile, and he coughed a few times, before straightening up again, cringing. "That was gross."
When the Saluki asked if he wanted space so he could sleep, his gaze swept from her, to Delilah, to Badeya. He didn't want to lose the company, yet privacy for a sleep sounded like a good idea. After a moments thought, he spoke. "I'd feel rude for leaving the three of you.... but a sleep, it does sound tempting. I'll just go and sleep over here." He turned on his heel and walked towards a nearby patch of flowers, only to jump a little and dash in the opposite directions, past the three females to curl up about five meters away from them underneath a tree when he saw that the flowers weren't symmetrical. After all, he didn't want to cause a fuss again.
